The Vote-to-Kick Solution Everybody Can Agree On!

I saw this in the feedback thread and didn't want it to get buried because it's so simple and genius it deserves some attention:

Now that I'm done ranting, for a fairly simple solution, have separate Q's. A kickable and a no kick one. In the no kick one no one can be removed, if you don't like who your with, simply leave the group.

EDIT:
Let me translate that idea since some comments below lead me to believe it's unclear. The idea is for two separate queues, one where the Vote-to-Kick option is enabled, and one where it is disabled, that players could choose between.

People have very strong opinions about this issue, myself included. There are varying opinions about what should be done and many of them tend towards the extremes. It seems to me that those who think the system is needed and those who think the system should be removed completely, and everyone in-between, could all come together and sing Kumbaya if this solution were implemented. Not to mention it would provide valuable data if they wanted to work towards a different solution. I think we can agree to disagree on what the impact would be, but it might serve as a wake-up call for... whatever side of the debate you are against. What do you think, Neverwinter forum peoples?

I disagree here's why one reason is all I need

How do you stop people from afking just to get loot rolls?? Oh you can't because you can't kick... Your idea is so bad and so easily manipulated... I thought of that in one second...

easy, if people are afk, people can just leave the group and leave the afk player there alone.

also this is part of the risk factor and one i think many are willing to accept, it will open peoples eyes as to why the kick to vote thing is GOOD when used correctly.

the original idea is brilliant, perfect and exactly what is needed, give the player the choice, everyone is well aware of afkers and trolls...like we are aware we might get boss kicked at the moment to, but we still run dungeons as we have no choice to take that risk. at least we can choose which risk we want to face if this is implemented.

Or... they could add in some kind of thing that allows you to add friends and then maybe even come up with a way to have them be in some sort of clan thingy Oh! I know, they can call it a guild. That way they won't have to worry about getting kicked when they run together, but hey... maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I think having an either or system would just make folks who like to be a leecher join and then go AFK and make the okay kick groups even more justified in kicking. FWIW you are on the right track. What could fix the issue would be allowing to join a que where team leader is the only one allowed to okay the kick. You will quickly make a name for yourself if you run good groups and are a fair leader, and people will drop from teams with a bad lead.

ok smart HAMSTER, FYI im in a guild, and run stuff as a group 90% of the time. but there are players that dont like guilds or get those guilds that are full of inactives.

i cant see a downside to this idea being implemented...guilds can still run together, you know like they do now...this will just help the casual players a bit more and i dont see how that is a bad thing.

im not against the vote to kick option, i am against it being abused, once people sart getting grouped with afkers and trolls they will see the importance of the VTK and maybe lessen its abuse...meh i dunno

True, I was being a smart HAMSTER. Sorry about that, took out some frustration on you and it wasn't deserved. My apologies. ( I'm typing this in all seriousness. Been a rough day at work)

I don't disagree that there are a lot of players out there that prefer to play lone wolf and something like this could possibly help. I don't think it would help much. Not because it isn't a good idea but because of the trolls. Trolls would just single out the non kick queue instead of the normal one in hopes of afking for free gear or just to be trolls. I think it could be a good idea as a temporary thing just to lighten the load until a better idea comes along. Though I don't see the developers putting that much time and money into a temporary fix.

Your reading comprehension needs some work. In your example you could just queue for the one where Vote-to-Kick is enabled and not have to worry about that situation.

Then he would just be right back to getting kicked every time he played. That's the point we're trying to make. It's not that it's not a good idea. It's the fact that either way the trolls are still alive and well and you'll still run into just as many dungeons with them as before except now you have to attempt the dungeon with a troll rather than being able to kick him. And on the other spectrum you have to get kicked 20 times to finish a dungeon or get kicked on loot rolls.

It's a great idea and it could possibly work just fine. I'm just saying I know how bad the troll population is on consoles and I don't see it being very pretty.

I kept my personal opinions out of the OP but I agree with you, any queue system without the Vote-to-Kick option is going to be an utter failure. My point is that there is a very vocal faction on these forums that wants it removed from the game entirely, and I think they would quickly find out why that is a terrible idea if they were allowed to choose a VTK-free queue. This would satisfy them without removing it for the players, like you and I, who realize it's needed.

I did an edit to the original post because there seems to be some confusion. The idea I was trying to share is for two separate queues players could choose between, one where Vote-to-Kick is enabled and one where it is disabled.

That's a nice spin on this idea. Good thinking!

There is a very vocal faction on the forums that wants VTK removed entirely and the either-or idea is meant to appease both them and the average player.

I think they all sound like good ideas. Pretty much anything would be a welcomed feature to a lot of the community it seems at this point.

I like the idea of appointing a group leader. It's not something I've seen in many other games and I'd definitely be willing to give that one a shot.

Could be a good way to make new friends as well or find a guild. If someone see's you being a good leader who doesn't kick on rolls or troll it would be a good indicator that they're someone who would deserve a spot on your friends list to play with in the future.

I'm sure someone will think of how this won't work either for some reason or another, but here's to hoping the Dev's are seeing this and coming up with some creative ways of making this better for everyone as well.

I'm a fan of this idea. Start every instance with a random group leader. Only the group leader can kick, but no voting required. Instead of the Vote-to-Kick option, players can now Vote for someone to become group leader.

Please keep feedback on this in the thread on it. We don't need multiple threads on the same topic, which is the Vote Kick system. Thanks!
