everyone spams it in zone chat the entire dragon heralds run every run. stop using astral seal then i get dcs cussing us out saying there gonna use more astral seal just because we complained. the lag does not happen when a cleric doesnt use astral seal ive had many runs with no clerics at all its absolutely wonderful we end up getting 7 dragons every time and no lag. but when there are more than 1 clerics around lag goes crazy no one can even damage the dragon its so bad and yet they dont stop.honestly if dragons runs werent so profitable i wouldnt be doing them because of the lag. and i dont lag ever exept when clerics are doing astral seal or tiamat. mod 5 i played on max settings all the time now i play on minimum and even then the lag wont stop for anyone.so please i beg you to stop using astral seal on dragons. use it any other time.

From my experience, Astra seal causes extreme lag to the point the game gets frozen for everyone killing heralds. Pally Prism also causes a lot of lag but not as bad as Astra seal.
Herald run is a group activity. So why not put down your pride (of spamming an at-will???) and just do whatever people ask you? After all, a successful run will benefit everyone, including you.

This is a myth, this was at one stage a problem and it was FIXED (yes, that is right, the devs do fix some things) in reality in this mod the issue is caused by devotion paladins. I should know, I got both a devotion pally and a dc and if you have ever seen the healing a devotion pally does, you will understand why it causes lag. Astral seal is a little baby compared to vow of enmity and vow of enmity+bond of virtue is an absolute killer when it comes to large groups of allies. Add in smite and you got 1 super laggy instance. All the pally then needs is burning guidance and the servers will stand still Stop complaining about bg+as, it was fixed last mod and is nothing compared to what a devotion pally can do. "*** hoc ergo propter hoc" is the term used to describe the logics used here. Basically when so many people bash something with so many skills, no participant can identify what is the causing agent. It might just as well be one of the skills that just don't have a snazzy text line. But until then every naming of skills is merely an opinion and/or a hypothesis - of varying plausibility. With a dump of server comm protocols, it might be possible to say "OK, this and that skill interacting with those other skills in the presence of said artifact..." But as it is now it's mere speculation and ranting.
Basically this should all be discussed in the bug reports hierarchy, and dev's should help, comment, and inform as to which factors and situations contribute to these slidesho-rama events and crashes, and then spread the information to everyone until fixed - or, even better fix it right away.

While at it, hope anyone can check whether certain skill FX from SW causing huge fps drop as well?
few times happened i tried the following whenever got chance in Master Hunt & eLOL
i) casted AS, with SW in party dps-ing within view... huge fps drop - crazy level.
ii) casted AS, with SW in party dps-ing but not in within view... fps drop not noticeable (went OK when SW perma-kissing the floor)
iii) AS not casted, with SW in party dps-ing within view... significant fps drop... not as worst as (i)
iv) AS not casted, with SW in party dps-ing but not within view... fps drop noticeable
case (ii) happens alot than (iv). whenever i turn my view away from SW, the fps went acceptable but when i turn it right back where SW was, the fps gone crazy.

When there's no paladin (it's easy to see, there's not that while glowing circle), i can spam astral seal without much issues. I suspect there's some feedback loop when there are multiple paladins having heals bouncing on one another, and the server can't handle that, since astral seal is the best way to do as much healing as you can continuously after all.
I noticed that I could generate some lag as a DC with multiple paladins around when spamming other heals as fast as I could on as many players as possible.
I'm also pretty sure paladins can do that on their own but I don't know the class.

The problem is burning guidance and how it interacts with certain spells(i.e too many green numbers). I have it slotted on my DC but I never use astral seal in WoD. But what freezes me quicker than anything is more than 1 CW using icy terrain, I can not even slot it on my two CWs as it causes me too much lag. So really different powers affect different people differently.
The lag may also have something to do with going over the instance - player limit. In my opinion the option to invite people into an already full instance should be disabled. The engine can't handle it, tiamat/old Gauntlgrym was the best example.

The developers themselves have stated several times that the engine cannot handle it. Go to Rothe Valley, kill a dragon in a normal populated instance. Then wait for an instance to go over that limit... It causes major lag. This is a fact. As an aside, no offence but just stop posting about things of which you have no real clue about.

oh no i know so your saying it is possible that astral seal is encouraging lag but only with extremely high numbers of people? thats a sound argument right there and i agree with it because i too havnt had a problem with it unless theres a high number of people.

See above, it's your graphic settings that aren't low enough for your CPU (yes, not GPU).
I'm quite certain AS is not causing noticeable lag by itself. At least, I never noticed much change with or without it when I use it even in large groups.
But nowadays the concept is so profoundly engraved, that I'm not using it anymore in WoD runs. Of course, when I receive private messages asking me to stop using it, or If I see people complaining about AS when none is used, then I feel compelled to start.

now mod 6, added paladins, with dragons' extra health base, and tougher mobs and summoneds with stronger buffs and lot of one-shots making "Data Bottlenecking" to be unplayable.
devs should need to tone down health base the dragons has, and less summons, and local camp spawns should be empty when the heralds shows up, make zone cap 35 players per zone, and see if it get improved, if still bit laggy, then cut to 30 but devs has to know to trim out extra spawns or lower back to 70 levels instead of 73s.

The key to do this is to run with people with brain. Once some random DC appears (because stupid system don't allow us to avoid lamers) and casts AS (because he/she is ABSOLUTELY sure it was fixed few months ago), we do max 5 dragons.
And Yes - it is obvious, that problem is not just AS or Prism. Just these 2 are very visible - AS has shiny green icon under dragon healthbar you can look at it next time you get frozen... and wait for it to disappear to get un-frozen.

My main is a cleric. I've played WoD with and without it. You can easily still get great success without using Astral Seal as a 100% healing cleric.

No, it was merely causing fps drops with burning guidance. Many people don't know the difference between seeing one frame every 3s and rubberbanding.
