It's not an hour early: the US just had Daily Savings Time, so maintenance came at the right time.

To factor in the amount of extra downtime for when maintenance goes wrong for the umpteenth time obviously
Most Americans are still sleeping while many of the European time zones will be in school, college or work I guess so starting earlier would probably make sense.
Yeah Lew will most definitely be locking this thread very soon but I couldn't resist a reply :P

Whoever posts the maintenance times has no idea how UTC works, apparently. It is almost always wrong. But the PST or PDT is correct, because that is what the time zone is for Cryptic.
So the best thing is for you to do the calculation yourself.

On the launcher it says downtime is from 14:00 UTC until 18:00 UTC, so it went down an hour early according to that.
