honestly I think they have the entire wrong idea on how to monitize this game, have a more robust character creation along the lines of Champions Online sell customization and outfits a better selection of dyes. yes have a couple of things like bags, keys and boosters but take col wards and the like off the zen market along with the blood rubies. I dont know anyone who thinks that is a "good deal" 20$ for 150k refinement points when it takes millions to hit legendary? does anyone even buy those?
I've always thought blood rubies should be 100k each not 50k.

If they simply added Mount and Companion Upgrades, that would allow you to change the color of their armor/clothing/tack, to the AD market (Similar to Mount increases now, but not nearly at the prices of those.) and have them have to use Dyes for this too. Well, there would be a huge AD sink.

And in a few weeks, you'll have people wanting the exchange to be raised even higher. The cap is in place to keep the market from spiraling out of control and making the ability to obtain ZEN without having to buy it directly out of reach for many.
Firstly, I'm suggesting there be no cap, not a higher one. And secondly, the idea of it spiraling out of control is only relative to your perception that the market should trade within a certain range. If the market went to 10k AD per Zen, you may call it out of control, but I would call it the balance between new AD being generated in game and the amount of Zen being purchased from the store.
The long term negative effect of keeping the 500 AD per Zen collar is that it is far more viable for people to create leadership armies to acquire Zen. Hence why we have been sitting on 500 for awhile now and likely will never see it any cheaper unless a major change comes to the game (the next Mod is not that major).
The positive effect of a high AD per Zen rate is that leadership armies become a less viable way of accumulating Zen, but still an option for acquiring small amounts, which makes buying it from the store more viable (good for the company). And new players entering the game that start with nothing can now acquire large amounts of AD with their first purchase of Zen.
The less viable it is to achieve AD in the game equates to a smaller player population base. Market economics typically dictate that more revenue can be raised from small impulse buys from a larger player base than from a select few large purchases.
Just delete leadership. And let people wanting ad play for them.
Again leadership is toxic.
Says the guy who doesn't have millions upon millions invested into crafting assets, or years invested into crafting.
What if Leatherworking (which is what I originally did to earn income) was the main way you made ad. Would you be calling for it to be razed to the ground?
i do 50k at least by leadership, 20-30k selling minor zen related stuffs in ah.. something that will sell, 10k of random rank 5, 10-20k of refining from tiamat, 10k of a purple at least...without playing if not tiamat its 100k more or less.
...hmmm.
Somehow this reminds me of the newspaper this morning, where i read this...
OK, so I found this post from you today in another Forum here...

me doing 50k is nothing compared to who has tons of alt praying for 500k-1kk everyday bringing those astral in the economy.
i would sign for the total removal
to clarify: its not the mass to dictate prices but who can pay more for the same item. without leadership afk farming you would be richer not poorer.

Will you sell me all of your leadership assets on the cheap? I'm always looking for more Man at Arms or Adventurers.
Farming, since Tia drops everything up to T2 BoE, is rather dead, if you haven't noticed. The only farming that brings bigger chunks is eLoL/eSoT for the crafting components and the Books. All stuff anyone really wants to wear/swing is BoP from vendors or crafted. So cut that...
The mass LS AD generation is somewhat underpaid. I do it when I need AD, but the point is that with 3h of work I get 500kAD - a wage of 3.33$. To reach that, I had to invest massively, so it took about half a year of mostly reinvesting the gains to get there in the first place. But as I explained above, it's a good way for people with busy schedules but slim purses to get their competitive in-game income. Also, income is curtailed by that it has to pass the 24k/day bottleneck. Whereas the other AFK farming, after rinsing through the AH, yields refined AD...
And prices... ...the really expensive stuff is enchantments and rare artifacts/mounts. And with Weapon and Armor enchantments those millions of AD you pay on AH are mostly somewhat accurately the prices only the Coal Wards to get there would cost - 7 for a perfect, times 500kAD = 3.5 megAD. Add in some recompensation for farming/finding/buying all the shards, too, and you arrive at that price, just Vorpals are blown up by high demand.
Your mantric repetition does not help there, it just as wrong as "cutting taxes for the rich will make the poor profit from trickle down effects" or "...will benefit the economy as a whole" - unless ofc in the latter case you view the economy in the Caymans...
'The AD sink must be good enough to excite players to spend, and "vanity is the best sin"'
I only buy stuff that makes my character better, not better looking. Even though I committed to waiting for mod 6 before spending anything, I could not do it. There is still so much stuff I want that I didn't even know about to make my character have higher stats. YES, stats ARE important to me. Don't judge. LOL
I am also really enjoying the professions that I did not have time to work on before.
While I agree with you that you should buy stuff that enhances, there are a lot of people who spend willy nilly on cosmetics. Just because you don't, doesn't mean that there aren't a ton of players who will.
If Cryptic can get rid of the leadership bots there will be a lot less AD flowing into the market.
Leadership alts still need a minute per to log in and do a task. Given different tasks complete at different time, each leadership alt has to be logged in 4 or 5 times a day to maximized the profits, and it doesn't include the time missed by real people who can't log in at the specific time to re-queue their tasks due to the boss factor or zzzzzz.
Let's say, you run 100 leadership alts. That's good AD obviously, but you also have to spend 100 x 5 = 500 minutes or more than 6 hours a day just to get those leadership tasks requeued and you have to set your alarm clock. It is inhuman effort.
Of course, real people only run 5 or so alts but their AD income will not be significant. If Cryptic keeps leadership AD bot free it will be a very good AD sink already.
When it comes to AD and making it in the game, there are more people struggling for AD than those who aren't. Ad should be made from enjoying the game than multiple character leadership and hopefully they can create that.

May all your words come true mate!
If we didn't have this bad "RNG" and if game would reward us equally fair with AD, then i would be the first to say delete leadership AD, but until then my and many peoples only AD income, cause i can't make a cheater out of my self, it may sound old school and naive, but i like the decent path, not the grey, not the dark side, so i don't bot and i don't exploit.
Ok here is an example, that i don't speak in the air, some facts. Run together with a few guildies in IWD and WoD. Guy besides me had 6 belts from "RNG" in WoD in a few hours, me on many many toons zero drops.
Ok we did IWD in a group, guy 2 gloves with me (he had 6 gloves all together) me on 7 toons, guess what...
Ok i do Tiamat now, drop rate, yes zero again.
Now since i am not alone and more people, who i know have those problems with HAMSTER "RNG", what shall we do to play the game?
I have 3 options, stay and pay, which i do from time to time, but it hurts every time i have to open my wallet and compensate for a big nothing. I could wait for lady "RNG" to come by, which would have been idiotic, as time tells. 3rd option to ...., but hell i like game, but it saddens me a lot.
See my and many's option to help us out a bit the legit way is only AD making with leadership.
Make game even and fair and you will never see me complain here on forums never ever. I was playing this game since nearly beginning and never came here (had a very nice lady as my former GM, who helped me a lot with missing stuff), didn't even know forums existed, problems with AD and "RNG" brought me here.
Sorry, that i went a bit off topic, but to see, why i hang on to leadership so much and for the bigger picture i had to tell it. THX

Nope. Leadership bots are the problem, not leadership itself. Even the more dedicated human players don't run 100 leadership alts. It is more like 10 or so due to the time required, and the income per day is only an insignificant 100k or so. Leadership bots operators make 1 million AD but real players get only 100k. The solution is obvious. Disable the bots and leave leadership for the real players.

You kit one of the key points that I find frustrating with the game. You can get several of the same Artifact if you run dungeons over and over. Personally, I would prefer a once your character gets Item "A", you can never get another of it. Of course, this does not count for Potions, Scrolls, and minor magic items (Read: Blues and Below). But once you get to Purples and above, they should be one time per character finds.
This could be programmed it, and if a character was supposed to get a drop that they already had, they could get something from a second list. Say a Blue and Refinement Stone.

Only issue I can see with that idea is that it leaves no room to farm anything to make ad with, and with people flooding the market with rp the price will drop, its unsustainable
Simple solution: Remove the 500 AD collar on buying Zen. Let the exchange rise to 1000+ AD per Zen. Give value to those that actually buy Zen from the company.
And FYI, I am one of those people that have been playing since day 1 and have a 50 alt leadership army and can produce a million AD per day. So, I'm not saying remove the collars for my own benefit, but rather for the long term viability of the game.
I actually thought they would increase the cap with mod 6 for this exact reason. I think a 1000 cap would suffice. Only issue would be how it would effect the market value of items in AH

That, and you aren't able to use every Purple Item (I see I left them out of the above post for some reason, that was not intentional.) you find already, or Artifacts for that matter, and thus they would still be available for sale.
