Hey guys as I am new to pve TR. I have some questions to ask...
I have seen a TR could even deal more DPS than a CW with well skill/right build/geared in CN.. that was pretty amzing and interesting for me, so I have started to switch my TR from pvp to pve. With all the buff i got from the executioner-tree, my DPS was increased alot but not that much as I expected. I still got over by a normal CW in a CN run..
I did rotation stealth WoB - smoke - shadow strike - stealth - blitz
plus i did duelist as at-will
Did i do wrong aoe rotaion? How do pve TRs make dps (aoe)?
Thnx for ur reading.

Not using Path of the Blade?
Honestly, I am uncertain when I see claims of TRs that say they outdamage CWs of just how skilled the CWs they're running with are. I can outdamage a really crappy CW on the paingiver scale using a completely single-target spec on a TR in t1 gear with no vorpal. It's meaningless.
i think its more of the stats cuz that will boost your dps the most, if you have a solid build you can use any encounter combo and deal alot of damage with executioner, at that point its all higher gs/stats/gear for higher dps
wow thnx for advices guys, maybe I was abit naive but ye, was expecting for super high crit like over 50k all the time, but seems like it isnt the truth...
it's mostly about gear- especially legendary artifact mainhands. TR critted me today in GG for 50k - dead one-shot .. he was orange where it mattered. These toons are rare tho.

The winter 2014-2015 buggy version of the experienced TR outdamages experienced CWs only in latest dungeon content where adds are few and strong like Elol/Esot and Kessel. In the rest of the content where adds zerg the dungeon, CW outdamages TR in almost all cases. Of course we are talking about 2 equally experienced players with a DPS playstyle which means jumping head first in every encounter. There is no way for a TR to outdamage a CW in CN. Despite the huge bug of TRs where they reach their Power up to 35k-40k they cant possibly match the equally stupendous damage of a buffed and critted OF in a huge bunch of adds. Its just a matter of who manages to kill adds first cause there none left for the second one. So dont just compare the classes, u have to compare them in the proper content as well.
mmm not quite, i am no expert but here is what i use when i need aoe. Whirlwind of blades while stealth + shadow born does alot of burst damage to 5 targets, smoke bomb in stealth for the crit and cuz it has no target limit and does alot of damage, dazing strike has a good aoe and does a lot of damage. Those are the main encounters i use for when i need aoe like at tiamat. Blitz i find doesnt do enough damage to elite mobs like at tiamat but i use this to clear weak mobs since it has good burst aoe. You need high power to do alot of damage, but you also need crit cuz crit is double ur damage as well as armor pen to ignore monster resistance/defence. Monsters have 22% armpen and bosses have 24% armpen so i would try to aim close to those numbers imo.

i got my smoke like 3500 each time it procs.. how about urs?
Here's what I use in PvE (I can't stand PVP tbh) Smoke Bmob, PoB, and blitz. In that order you'll take a lot of the mobs down that way. The class features I use Dagger Threat, and first strike. So your SB will do even more damage.

You only need crit, out of stealth. Most TR armor sets come with all the crit you will need (it's hard to avoid it.. Draconic and Profound Scoundrel being the best options to avoid crit) You need critical severity to maximize damage. So when that boon comes up - or you go and buy the Erinyes of Belial.. that's how you're going to increase your damage. If you are exec or Sab - you need to constantly try to apply your damage from stealth (and preferabbly leading with Whirlwind - which makes the "tactics" class feature a must).
Shadowborn is nice - but only works on the first attack which means if you are running PotB - it will get wasted without you ever seeing it. I dropped Shadowborn in favor of Exposed Weakness for pvp. In pvp you need all the ArP you can get and unfortunately the BiS gear for an Exec (profound scoundrel until mod 6 then it's elemental something or other but still pvp) is gained with glory.

http://nwcalc.com/tr?b=oh7:1wplww:16b07g,1xi3i0i:15u000:100000:1uu0uv&h=0&p=min
My tr have only 18 k GS nothing special min hp 24k / power 7000/ crit 4000 / arp 2600 /rec 3000
I use this :
passives : Tactics / Invisible infiltrator
At-wills : DF/CoS
Encounters: DS /SM /Shadow strike (vs boss change DS for lashing )
Dalys:BB/WoB
And use Plage fire .
Only few ppl can out dps me like 27k trapper HR or in CN & VT by 24k CW. ( all legendary stuff etc)
bloodbath+knifesedge is rumoured to be broken - i dont have knifes edge so cant confirm
GPF+SoD is rumored to be broken - which i also dont have GPF (i hv vorp) so cant confirm
While these broken mechanics may give u massive damage in the short term - the long term is they will get fixed and u will more than likely have to respec.
Single Target: for me it depends on the target - I swap dazing strike and smokebomb in boss fights to lashing blade and ITC or deftstrike depending on whether i need the immunity or not. LB is still by far our highest possible burst damage. (i've seen one shots in PvP for 46k + and hv hit 80K in PvE tho im sure there are higher)

True but even if BB+knifesedge is fixed its still a good option with WoB .
Also investing on Lesser PF dont hurt any one

Smoke bomb crits as long as you're in stealth. If you go in stealth then use smoke bomb it will not crit - maybe on the first tic (I'm not sure). What you can do is use smoke bomb, go in stealth then use blitz. Blitz has kind of a long animation so smoke bomb will tick a few times before you get out of stealth. Dazing Strike in stealth can do a lot of damage to a whole group if you're positioned corectly.
This is the encounters I use : Dazing Strike, Smoke Bomb, Blitz. I outdamage CWs most of time, but that's because my gear is above average and I play a TR since beta. Similarly geared and experienced CWs outdamege me almost all the time. CWs are better equipped to deal with dungeons. No complaints though, I'm just happy we're not useless anymore.

so Deftstrike , SM ( smokebomb ?) , shadowstrike for trashclearing ?
It's all about gear. In mod 5 i out damage even 21k CW's and I am at 19k. Drop smoke bomb, enter stealth, dazing strike from stealth use lashing or blitz on the enemy with lowest hp then repeat. Don't use POTB. It's a fail in PVE and only used by people who bot.

If you're running with GrPF and not Vorp, it's a 45% PvP, 9% PvE defense debuff to all enemies around you. So, when you're not the fully soloing type, but hovering around the party, and those folks are smart enough to understand this, it can be quite a benefit. Admittedly I don't get many PvP kills with it - no sneaking up on hapless prey, doh.
But I wouldn't the other way 'round - my best pings are 200-ish, and that's plain too much. Lashing the spot where the enemy has been half to three quarters of a sec before just doesn't cut it (or him/her, to be precise)... ...so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Also, while this can increase dungeon clearing speed, if your goal is only out-DPSing the others, then this would be rather contraproductive... :^[)
So, yes, you will still get the benefit of PF's debuff, randomly attatched and without any real intelligence to keeping the debuff active, but is it worth the slot? It might be in PvP due to the low # of targets and the value of the Debuff (especially for a perma-daze TR -- though i have no idea whether they would have room on their bar for potb)

1. potb no longer procs SoD on preview.
