Timing of the 2x XP weekend

With the new class and the new level cap coming to live on 17th March, doesn't it make more sense to have 2x XP after that, instead of before?

Does it make sense to everyone else that the 2x XP weekend is just a weekend before the mod release where I think it would be so much better for it to be after the release?

Personally, I don't want to have double XP the first weekend of the new module. I'd like to savor and enjoy the journey to 70, and not have the experience compacted because of the double XP.

Also, I think the idea is to build in a "catch up" weekend so you can level up those last alts to 60, or get a head start on something new before the level cap is increased.

Cryptic want to keep people playing as long as possible, since the longer they play the more real money they are likely to spend. Cryptic are always struggling to make content that last long (enough) with the limited resources they have.

So it is highly unlikely they would have a 2x weekend that could be used to consume the content of the new expansion faster than intended.

Hmm. Leveling one character to 70 from 60 would be a savory experience, true. But I am not so sure that doing the same for all 7 of my characters would be the same xD.

But yeah, I get the point that you both have made. I guess it makes sense in that way. I will be sure to make 10 or so leadership alts then, if not more, and level them to 11 in that case. It would be sweet if there is a character slot sale as well.

It is a noce Gift from Cryptic/PWE to give us double XP one week before release. It is easy now to get my twinks to level 60. :)

    ^I'm with Ironzerg there.
I'd actually hate getting a double xp weekend with the new class. It'd make me hold off on actually playing it, because Neverwinter's XP is already too fast for me at times.
I'd say something about an option to pause xp gain, but we all know it would be horribly exploited in PvP, so that'll never happen.

There is nothing insidious about this. They did this same thing when Warlock came out. As Ironzerg said this is about letting people catch up and not about giving people a head start on the new mod.

It's also a good time for your toons to get at least 65 Power Points. This way when mod 6 arrives you can start using the 4th level of all your skills for more Umphness!!!

No. I am strictly against 2x rp days. Developers shouldn't bring this. It is bad for equality of players. Players that can afford to buy lots of refining stones will be happy. But what about others?

There will become really big gap between players. Lots of players will leave the game if that happens. You must change the system totally for all palyers. Don't try to continue on wrong road. Just change your road.

Umm, this is double XP. Not double refinement. Your rant is a bit misplaced.

2x XP ? Whats for? Then we even don't need to talk. A quick xp gain is useless if you ask me. Is there a reward for people that get level 70 earlier? If there is, then let me know.

I am more curious on what are we going to do after level 70. We must disscuss this.

It's so everyone can fill up the last of their character slots and get them all up to level 11 to begin the leadership alt grind in preparation of the new module and its increased monetization...Enjoy!

Seriously though, I'll never understand this attitude. It's not like this game prevents you from doing over-leveled quests, the only thing preventing you from enjoying it as much is yourself. And honestly, if all it takes to make it unenjoyable is to remove the XP carrot, then you probably aren't really enjoying it much.

Not that I'm saying the double XP should be at module launch, I honestly don't care, leveling in this game is ridiculously fast already and requires very little effort. I doubt very much that that will change dramatically for going from 60 to 70.
    Don't Panic.

It's so that you can get ready for the next mod. They don't want you rushing through all of the content as soon as it has been released.

If over-leveling stuff strips away some of the challenge, then is sure does cut down on how much you can naturally enjoy the content. If I'm level 70 still doing level 65 stuff, it's not nearly as much fun as doing it at the intended level.

That's all. Pretty easy to understand, IMHO.
