Life steal needed changes. Dpsers with high lifesteal were almost immortal except for those fights where there are lots of one-shots. We can agree perhaps that this was not the best of changes, but the previous system was broken and dpsers were scaling into godhood.
Now about regen... I have no idea why they changed it. Right now on preview it's a horrible stat that serves pretty much no purpose. At least classes should get some features to allow a percentage of it to continue during combat (like 5/10/15%), because at the moment I see really no point in it. Even I, as GF protector tank, switched all regen for lifesteal on preview.
New changes to core mechanics in a non beta game. (NEVER)
We have been betrayed and forsaken by the people we devoted our time and money to in the blink of an eye.
end of story.
Core mechanics should never be changed in a non-beta game? Are you sure about that? If those core mechanics are broken then they should be changed. As others have said, paladins are not the reason for the change even if you would like to think otherwise. We have been betrayed and forsaken? How have we been betrayed and forsaken? Is it because players who relied on LS to make their characters practically immortal can no longer do so? I am really glad for the changes as they were really needed. Why do people always assume they're talking for the whole community even when they actually aren't?
I thought you did which is why I found your comment to be strange. Immortal god still at 61+??
No. I think the curves need a little adjusting because by the time we hit 70 the %chance for ls is too low now, especially for tempt locks. However I'm glad that the changes made me mortal. I'm actually using potions etc.
Our mechanics had to change, period. LS was way too overpowered.
If any DPS can heal himself, what's the need for healers and tanks?
but 1 healer spec was completely trashed by this since it was built upon life-steal and already had it's healing reduced to satisfy clerics
personally, i always thought life-steal was fine from a single-target standpoint. my rogue can't outheal a bunch of heavy hits coming every few seconds regardless of the fact that i can deflect most. my wizard on the other hand.......i can actually agree that they self-heal a lot from those aoes.
It wasn't because of pallies. It was because they made us immortal gods with ls and regen currently, which means the only way to ever kill us would be a oneshot. Considering that that is the worst way to make content difficult, the system was broken as it meant no new challenging content could ever be made. The current ls/regen system is broken. While I think the new stat curves are off and need adjustment, get the tinfoil off your head. There is no grand conspiracy, just an attempt to fix a painfully broken system.
+1. LS was a broken stat, while Regen can use some modification. Not sure how much the "Fix" will fix things, but it sure needs changing. I would have preferred diminishing returns hitting LS harder and at lower stat points, rather than an RNG system, though.
It does not matter to me at all what the reasons for doing this were, only that it was obviously necessary for reasons that did not include the Paladin.
Even without Paladin, something needs to be done about the unique synergy between high aoe dps with life-stealing. What need is there for any defense or healing when life-stealing basically keep you up most of the time? If the argument holds that support classes shouldn't have dps then why no one finds dps classes supporting themselves extremely well with life-steal objectionable? Give me one good reason why anyone would want to play GF, DC and Paladin?

You will hear the whispers of why we had changes in mod 6 to lifesteal and reageneration are no longer just a conspiracy, but they were contrived by design to force us to welcome paladin into our lives!
Many people are upset that the lifesteal and regen curve is being changed for mod 6.
I play this game because of the players that I have met in game along the way.
We have forged strong bonds through all of our blood sweat and tears.
CW, GF, GWF, SW, HR, TR, all have stated that they hate the changes and will not be force fed this new design just for the sake of bringing a paladin along in the party.
We really did not need a strong second choice party healer or a strong second choice party defender.
We needed more content, more costumes, old bug fixes,
I almost feel like i was born left handed.. and you are trying to force me to write with my right hand...
Right feels so wrong...
I can say only 1 thing the old regeneration is needed for paladin tank too.
So i dont think they done it cuz paladin before mod 6 they planned to rework LS but they cant maked it in time just roll back on patch notes .
