what are we supposed to do about the slow/laggy texture loading?

whenever i try to do tiamat, i have almost no idea what's going because i can't see what's going on, i especially can't even see health bars sometimes

i have to constantly be doing a ghetto refresh (spamming esc key)

what is the deal with this?

i can't be the only one experiencing this

using an nvidia gtx 770, i7, windows 8.1

is there something i can change on my settings to fix this?

it is incredibly frustrating, although it does add a bit of a challenge to the game haha

Someone said they got better performance turning off a multicore option in the settings somewhere, but I'd take it with a grain of salt. I have no personal experience with this but suggest it as it's the only thing I've even heard someone say might help. Good luck.

I have huge problems with this in Protector's Enclave. Half the time everything is white or muddy and icons don't show. My rig isn't a slouch either, FX 6300 @ 4.3, GTX 760, 16g ram yadda yadda. I've heard it has something to do with the way the engine renders and there really isn't anything that can be done on the client's end.

I started playing this on a 7 year old laptop running windows 7 and thought that it was the age of the laptop causing this. I have in the past 2 weeks had that laptop replaced with a brand new one running windows 8.1 and I'm still having the same problem. Though I think it's worse on the new one then it was on the old, go figure.
stealth is survival skills (and not tanking skills, that is really different)
    stealth is damage
    stealth is mobility
    stealth is everything
    everything is stealth
Stealth make TR OP, but lack of stealth make TR useless.

It's been really annoying the last mod or two. When I go into protector's enclave and open my inventory, I have to wait about a minute for the items to load/render. Then when I close it and move a short distance, like from the bank to the mailbox, and open inventory again, nothing is rendered and have another minute for the reload/render. Seems like some very crappy or pessimistic logic determining when things need to be reloaded.
In tiamat, the textures and icons in the power selection page needs reloading quite often. It is impossible for me to change powers in that fight.
I have a GTX 680. It's last generation, but almost as powerful as the 770

Yes, tex loading since M5 is a nightmare, but I must admit, since one of the last patches, tex loading is much better, but don't know why, it's getting worse and worse. It was like reset of something (just after patch)... now, a few weeks later, I see tex loading slowly... again  (still better than before)

Did you try the multi-core off option? I'm curious.

Ok here it is, not sure if it will work as I do not have this bug but I've heard someone say that turning this off helps.

    did not see that option

turned it off, and changed world/character texture detail to 100%, playing for an hour seems to have made a noticeable improvement

will repost later if it goes back to crappy texture loading

OK, tried to turn it off, played a few hours... not a single texture loading bug. I still see some low res to high res tex changing from time to time, but couldn't see the other tex loading bug, so this seems to work.
As for performance... for sure it isn't faster, but could be a good workaround for tex bugs (til they fix multi-core rendering)

the game froze up a couple of times for me since i disabled the multi core rendering

not sure if related, but it happened (didn't crash before)

screw it, i'll take the occasional freeze if it means getting rid of the slow loading texture madness
