RAD Refinement limit

Why is it there and why is it limited to 24k? Is there a way to augment it or bypass it somehow?

    It's there to keep inflation in check. No, there is no way to bypass it or increase it, although it is a per character limit.

    Erm, the 24k RAD is an extra, aka. "freebie" for free to play/non-paying gamers. If you need more AD, spend some money on Zen, convert it and support the game... or run multiple characters and get them all to 24k on a daily basis.

    Look at it like this: You enter a club, you get a free drink as a teaser. That's what the 24k AD really is.

    You can make as many raw astral diamonds as you like, but you can only ever refine 24K per day - thus limiting the rate at which ADs enter the game. It somewhat helps in keeping up the value of ADs.

    Because the more AD that pours into the economy the more expensive things will become. It's called inflation. The 24k refine limit is there to keep a run-away effect from happening. Just be glad we don't have the 8k limit seen in Star Trek Online and Champions Online.

    Closing this as the answer has been given and as the past has shown, this will just turn into an uneducated argument between players over who's opinion of inflation and economy is right or wrong, as well as bring in the trolls blaming the company and exploiters. Not to forget to mention the doomsayers.
