Tyranny of the Piercing Damage

Ok, so I thought devs learned that we have no wish to see piercing damage in Neverwinter anymore after module 4. Not after that module of pain and suffering where Red Glyphs and Combat Hunter Rogues, and CWs reigned supreme. Yet there we go, piercing damage gets reintroduced with Trickster Rogue revamp.

And not just some piercing damage but... THE Piercing Damage. One that allows Trickster Rogues to 1 HKO with their Shocking Execution, or with the help of Shadowy Opportunity, quickly evaporate anyone's HP with just at-wills. Were you a scrub or a drug (elixir) addicted e-leet-eest with the best in slot gear, you're doomed.

Nothing stands against the tyranny of the piercing damage. It ignores defense, deflect and tenacity and messes with your head, and guts. I tell you.

So I say stop, Piercing Damage! Get back to the Nine hells whence you came from!

I made a poll on this about hr piercing damage. Well looks like we have to convince the devs again that this sort of thing does not belong again.

No it's not! If you stick pototato sticks in your mouth and pretend to be a walrus while reading this.. well, it's the perfect voting choice!

Unmitigable, unavoidable, passive, "auto/freebie/proc" type of stuff needs to be strictly controlled.
Stop making excuses. Be a man.
If you know something to be broken, stop using it.
Otherwise, you've got no right to be speaking of 'balance.'

Unmitigable damage has been creating significant problems in the past, they have all been addressed and fixed one by one, i think its clear we can see "piercing damage" or "unmitigable" has always been causing problems, I would like to vote to have that removed.

I like that more people like potatoes than they do Piercing Damage. I don't actually mind piercing damage when it works correctly or isn't OP. Problem is, that doesn't really happen.

To be fair, potatoes are indisputably THE best vegetable, at least in terms of taste and use. It's hard for anything to stand up to that.

You can make pancakes out of them. Potatoes are OP and will probably be nerfed soon.

Hard to tell... I feel extremely tanky as a gwf when i dont face piercing and extremely weak when i do, maybe it just needs a bit of scaling down, but i do see a reason for it to be here. So i;ll take my potatoes:rolleyes:

piercing damage can be used but it needs to be changed to something that doesnt ignore tenacity and buffs from skills, feats, stuff like block, unstoppable, etc.

Looks like the devs had everything covered. Not the slightiest chance that a TR could ever lose a fight.

Wait... Can I vote again? I clicked NO! so quickly that I didn't read the others and I def like potatoes.

Piercing damage works to unravel what was previously a well setup stat allocation and mechanics system. Procs and free crits do the same.

I don't speak for PvE as I don't care about PvE.

They introduced Tenacity only to mock it with piercing damage. - Neither really belongs in this game but you don't tie your shoes together like that. You'll just trip and look stupid.

Piercing damage has its place - like if the amount of piercing damage to be done is based on a calculation that already took damage resistance/deflection into account, so as not to be hit twice by these defensive values. Outside of that scenario, I don't think it should be used.

Unmitigated damage seems like it's impossible to balance. Make everything mitigatable and then adjust damage numbers to balance it.

Sadly now this poll has put a pseudo math story problem in my head.

An Artificer builds a potato gun that shoots a potato at 3/4 the speed of light. Assuming adamantine shields and armor, how many guardian fighters will the potato penetrate thru.

That is what I am talking about. I went to Holland. I walked down streets openly doing things that the scum who run my country would lock me up for. I bought magic mushrooms in a leather shop. But the most treasured memory I brought back? Potato pancakes!

( I had my magic mushroom party crashed by Japanese tourists! It was LOL-o-rific!)

Well...some people add their stats to defense, tenacity, deflect...they just want to be tanky. Then why ordinary TR with 16k gs can come and deal to tanky character 30k+ dmg from SE?:)

    No for Piercing Damage.

all passive procs should be removed from the game and spread the dmg around skills im tired of this 0 skill required class mechanics.

Shadow of Demise is fine, it's based on damage after mitigation. SE and Shadowy Opportunity are bad, but making them respect Tenacity would be enough (though doubling Shadowy Opportunity damage and letting it be mitigated would be a big PvE buff)
