I really love the 20-sided slice - this is a great improvement for all the people who want to have old-style role playing, which is the thing the first Neverwinter was built upon and (in my opinion) the thing who makes this game so fascinating.
Many things in Cryptic NWN recall role playing (think about RESPEN dungeon, or lore box when you get into a new area) - this is amazing, and moves Neverwinter two levels above with respect to other MMOs. The 20-sided dice is the icing on the cake.
My proposal is to bring this 20 sided dice even more toward its original role, that is to make available "ability" rolls.
If using the dice you could also choose one "ability" to roll (such as Observe, Listen, Persuade, etc.) and even further, if this ability roll could be modified by Charisma or Wisdom value, this would be really amazing and would give the DICE much more actractivity.

I like this idea. I'd like to also see more colors as well as d4's, d6's, d8's, d10's, d12's, d30's, and d100's. Definitely d6's at the least, as having d6's opens up the door for players to play their own mini-dice games even more.
Bug: The d20 rolls off to the right side every time, regardless of surface. It does seem to have collision (even on other players), which is great. But rolling off to the right when the character animation shows rolling in front of you has to be a bug.
And it was much needed. The Gateway SCA dice more than once returned a Zero. Which makes it a 21-face dice.
(btw could a native english speaker enlighten me and explain why the devs say "die" in their post instead of dice)

The reason Gateway does this is due to a display bug. You actually get your rewards before rolling, when the "Roll" screen is up, so the displayed die roll really has little bearing.
As for the use of "die" - "die" is a singular noun for the plural noun "dice".
For example, when used as a noun:
Die = one
Dice = more than one
Having said that, it's fairly common for people to say "one dice" even though it is technically incorrect.

Largely inactive, playing Skyforge as Nai Calus.

Not to hijak, but related to this - what exactly does this Die do? You "roll" it and what? You just see something above your head? Do you get any additional stats? Is it just for show or does it have a real purpose? I can't tell from the description.
It let's you roll a d20 and displays the result for all to see.
This! I just spend 500k for another lousy 250 action gain, betting i am gonna have a lot more fun with this:)

Yeah, I agree. I love social/cosmetic/fun things like this. I will be getting all my characters one of these and am looking forward to more of these type things as well.

The RPG peeps must have a lot of ideas about playing games within the game.
Perhaps they'll come out with the "cup of dice" and let you choose which type
you want to roll. Can play D&D online. Hmm.
Did you really think anyone could steal the power of the god of thieves?

What I need to be able to do is to roll the dice when I'm sitting in my throne. It seems I can do either one, but not both at the same time. I tried it, and the whole game client crashed. Too nerdy I guess.
what is more usefull another random +50 stat to make the content even easier, or actually be able to roll a d20 and display the result??
another random +50 is more useful than a die roll that does nothing but display a number above your head and doesn't affect an outcome.
now if it had an actual function, for example roll X for a chance to win extra loot from the next skill node, or roll Y to unlock an extra chest at the end of dungeons that contain decent RP items and/or coal wards, that WOULD be useful.
even I'd probably spend 70k on the chance of getting decent RP gear.

One die.
Two dice.

thx
Too bad this game doesnt focus on this stuff in the zen shop instead of other items. I like this item and am glad to see more of this type of thing.
SOLD!
What do you mean - doesn't do anything?
It let's you roll a d20 and displays the result for all to see.

Fun, that's more useful. In fact it's the point of all.
Not many would spend 70k on a dice though
WTB Class Reroll please
and what use is that?
