Isn't the fire green, since they're eldritch flames?

My apologies for not editing the flames to green to be 100% accurate... Though I am sure get the idea! ;)

...note that SW will get out DPSed by a CW on single targets (dragon heads)
Good sir, would ye care to make a wager on the accuracy of the above statement?

If this is your first character I would recommend the CW. Due to its control, it is less dependent on gear than other classes as a fresh 60. While other classes like the SW and even rogues can outperform them in dps, in PvE there is nothing more versatile than the CW. There are also tons of experienced CW's to get advice from since it is one of the most popular classes in the game.

If you like a challenge, SW. They have tremendous potential, but are more gear dependent and have far less survivability than other classes. There are not many people who specialize in this class, so there is opportunity to discover some new tactics with it as well.

The DC is gaining ground as a dps class, and could offer flexibility if you are willing to respec if you like to either heal or dps. I guess you could also go hybrid. I can't comment on this too much, however, because I am not experienced with the recent changes to the DC.

Right now the rogue is very powerful in all aspects of the game, but more than any other class they have swung from overpowered, to gimped to the point of uselessness, to outrageously overpowered. There may be some unforeseen changes to this class over time that might disappoint or frustrate you. That being said, the rogue is right now the strongest melee class in terms of dps.
    Jeffro, DC
    Jeffrina Jones, GWF
    Jeffrodo, CW
    Jeffrogue, Rog
    Jelfro, GF
    Jeffrogolas Do'Urden, HR
    Jeffrodo Jaggins, SW

It's because I hate when I see warlocks drawn with normal elemental orange flames :P dark green fire looks so much vile and evil... and awesome...

Hmmm, and I thought the current TR was doing better PvE DPS than those . . . :)

    Didn't even make the list . . .
SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! (repeat indefinitely)

Depends on your preferred playstyle. As you're running 2 melee classes, if you want to stay melee, go TR. If you want to dabble in ranged classes, try HR or SW. If you want to laugh maniacally while screaming "NUMBERS!" as you watch damage numbers fill your screen while facemelting everything in PvE, go CW or DC.

Personally, I started GF then GWF as well. So I thoroughly enjoy my Trapper HR & Wk TR. But my SW is fun, too.

it surprises me CWs not knowing where they fall in single target dps? well below sw/hr no doubt, below TR and GWF even. hrm i'm not even sure they out damage a dmg spec'd GF in single target...

CWs beat clerics maybe? in single? i'm not even sure any more with the cleric changes, assuming all the infinite stacking bugs are truly gone for DCs.

it shouldn't really surprise me though, CWs have overestimated their single (or underestimated everyone else's) since beta. I still remember Grimah's CW guide claiming that CWs did 90% of TR single target back in beta, when TRs did 60-80k DPS single target thx to insanely op bleed stacking.

What Is The Best Dps Class For Pve?
    vverg wrote: »
CW (Spell Storm) will do most DPS after a Fury SW.
The question was not about what class makes most DPS, but what DPS class is best for PvE.

"Best" is a wide definition, but when you tell that CW::SS is "best" I must strongly disagree.
While CW::SS makes most single DPS, CW::MoF will provide more overall DPS for the whole party with more control.
Rest stays the very similiar state, what makes me to strongly disagree with your statement.

The same about SW. He does not provide as many debuffs as DC, being "worse" for PvE, but propably better for single DPS.

Also, the queston was not about a path, but class only.
You try to add some extra info, but while nobody asks you about that, you produce not only redundant, but untrue informations aswell.

Read with understanding and don`t spread false informations.

    @topic
While "best" is a wide definition, classes that provides the fastets dungeon cleaning are, imo:
    1. CW (AOE DPS)
    2. DC (debuffs + heals)
    3. GF (buffs)
    4. SW (debuffs + DPS)
    5. HR (DPS)
    6. TR (ST DPS)
    7. GWF (all in one)

After limiting these classes to DPS classes only, we get:
    1. CW
    2. SW
    3. HR
    4. TR

I think its funny reading the comments, you can tell the people who played the SW and the people who haven't. As for the best DPS class thats a very relative statement to how you enjoy to play the game, but if you want to watch the faces of your opponents melt quickly SW ftw!

Exactly, nothing can compete with the face melting power of the SW's overall damage capability.
    Threat level 60 Guardian Fighter
    Gloom level 60 Control Wizard
    Dusk level 60 Trickster Rogue
    Dawn level 60 Devoted Cleric

Not necessarily true. Depends on the dungeon type. Strong SW and strong CW in CN, the CW should win due to mobs and spacing. New dungeons and skirmishes such as LoL, SoT, and Tiamat.... its SW fury build all the way. It's not a run-away though in CN, its usually relatively close (within a couple of million or so).

People keep talking about those mysterious SW's that can out DPS a CW, where are they?

Thus far the only ones I met basically rely on their daily to give them some damage but otherwise are far behind. And the daily gives them nothing unless there are DPS CWs around. And even with that I have yet to see one do more damage than a properly geared Vizier CW with 12-13 k Power.

I can complite even Epic HE in IWD with my CW /TR / and My GWF .
    In resonable time .
With GF takes ages to complite the "so called blue encounter".

No one care about you die or not or about your LS .

At this point of the game history only DPS count cuz only with moderate DPS or Good DPS can you complite tiamat .
25 GF will never ever complite this HE.

But stacking any other class can do it .

i know 25 gf will never do timat, but its the game now just tiamat? maybe but see it like this not every1 can be no.1 that its no.1, i know gf will never be best in dps, i know we suck i know no1 wanna play it, maybe when the game have decent dungeons/encounter were all dps can be 1 shoot if there not a gf the things change, as far as tiamat why even do it? for artifact wep/offhand set? for what more dps why tell me what is out there that need more dps, theres not a single dung or encounter that is a challenge anymore.

The gear and dps community have over come the game content for 2 mod at least, thats why they dont even release new dungeons with mod's on day 1, lets farm dailies for 4 or 5 weeks give them the dungeon after and let them run it with HV or AoW sets they have since beta.

in the day i find a dungeons i cant complete with my none artifact wep and off-hand mabe i make/get them till there its just farm, its fun to run tiamat, but pugs dont work, and to be honest every hour t1 donation = to HAMSTER reward maybe farm a few more encounter/coins/coffer and do tiamat just 4 or 5 times a day when its worth it the way to go, but if 25 don organize i dont see a few guild doing it.

Having played all classes myself and repeatedly running with the top 5% performers of all these classes there's only one answer to the question "top DPS?!?!?!?"

    SW, Fury Hellbringer.

If I were to roll a new class w/o any background information, my inital question would be different though. For example "most useful?!?!??!", most probably in conjunction with the suffix "untwinked/while gearing up".

The answer to this might make you more happy in the long run. But yeah - just roll a fury lock and watch mobs die quicker than they can type /quit in chat.

    Sad and true .
And yepp there is nothing to do just tia and daily ( and after you have all your books ?) just tia .
I think after december any one will burn out cuz each of us have off-hand neck and full set draco + boons .

What can we do after this ?

    10-100k belts .?
Make r10 enchants ? Where can we get AD? Leadership ? Or savageing?
What can we do farming foundrys and mob poppulated zones ? for RP ?
They srew 2 years work in 1 mod
Just by adding T2 as reward.
