Hello guys,
I was slightly
on my recent PvE guide, because it was an utter fail. However, it is only fair that I redeem myself with a PvP guide which I specialize in. I noticed that the forum did not have any current up to date CW pvp guides especially one for the most recent mod (5). This guide will be based off of CW Renegade paragon which I call the secret "OP". Please note that this build is not easy to obtain or cheap. This is a very expensive build used for the high tier of PvP.
Now before I begin with the build itself, let me explain a couple things.
1) Use this as a reference not as a step by step book. This build is NOT the best, and should definitely not be copied 100%. You should tweak it and make it more suitable for you, after all you are playing the game , not me. Get creative!
2) I won't link any resource to this guide, as information is a simple Google search away or you can read Chem’s Compendium which should answer most of your questions.
3) This guide is based off of my personal experience, if you disagree with something, just write down what you think is correct below. Please do not troll and give hateful comments. (It is completely useless, and honestly just waste your time)
Now some things about me….
I am primarily known as Flash ingame and on the forums. I have been playing Neverwinter since late of mod 3 and reached around page 20. As of the recent leader board reset, I am currently page 1. My lack of experience is compensated with hours of testing theories and practice.
Why Renegade?
You buff the team. You have insane healing. You deal tons of burst damage. You survive.
With my build, not only do you do tremendous amounts of damage, but also help your team. Let me explain the PRO’s and CON’s of this build.
Pros
- Massive Burst damage that can take down most squishies
- Insane Healing
- Carry team build
- Absolute Pug Smasher Build
Cons
- Rather expensive build (High Tier)
- Squishy
- Not the best build for premades
- If you get focused without protection, you are dead
- Requires decent skill cap
Comments
The stats shown above are without any companion or potions. Let me explain why I picked the gears above ^
I went for the 2/2 purified and corrupted set for the maximum power I could achieve. As a benefit I also receive a +150 control bonus AND +150 action point gain. This particular armor combination gives the best stats for my build. I picked the Cloak of Black Ice for the increased action point gain and great stats. You probably question the rings I have chosen for this build. The reason why I use Ring of Pain is for its offensive stats. I feel it being more beneficiary then running the dual pvp rings. (Ring of sinister force & Ring of Dexterous Evasion). Although I will eventually switch both of the rings for the new Personalized ones. My choice in belt was due to the fact that Belt of Black Ice is just awesome. It gives +2 INT and CHA which is just what you need as well as great offensive stats.
Artifacts
One very important artifact that you probably notice that I am missing is the Devoted Cleric Sigil, which is an essential.. Unfortunately, I lack refinement points to get it to legendary. But that should be the first artifact that you get. That is currently my priority. Daily Happy Hours!
Other then that, Vanguard's Banner and Sigil of the Great Weapon are probably going to be the best two for CW. (HP and great stats)
Enchants
For weapon enchantment use Vorpal or Greater Plague Fire.
For armor enchantment use Soulforge or Barkshield
For offensive slots use Radiant's
For defensive slots use Radiant's
For utility slots use Dark Enchantments for movement speed bonus
For Glpyh's slot in either 2 Red Dragon Glyph OR 1 Green Dragon Glyph and 1 Red
Row 1)
Weapon Mastery- 3% critical chance, as renegade, you need as much critical chance as you can get.
Toughness- HP is essential for PvP, 9% extra is just way too good to pass.
Row 2)
Fight on- 10% cool down reduction.
Arcane Enhancement- Personal preference(Honestly doesn't make too big of a deal)
Row 3)Blighting Power- 6% damage to targets affected by chill. This is pretty much free damage, as most of your abilities create a stack of chill.
Row 4) Learned spell caster- INT gives even more extra % damage. If you are human, add 3 extra points onto this.
Focused Wizardry- 30% extra damage toward single target ablilities, all of your abilities will be single target damage (PvP)
Renegade Path
Row 1)
Critical Power-Every Time you crit, you gain action points= more frequent dailies
Reapers Touch- Within 20 ft, Atwills deals 10% more damage. Just free extra damage.
Row 2)
All of the abilities in this row are useless for PvP.
Row 3)
Phantasmal Destruction- This pairs up with Nightmare Wizardry. Gain 15% extra crit severity, when combat advantage.
Nightmare Wizardry- When crit 20% chance to gain combat advantage for you and your teammates, which then may proc Phantasmal Destruction.
Row 4)
Chilling Advantage- Chilling presence is used in this build, giving your spells 10% extra chance to crit which is crazy good. (Currently bugged but still good)
Masterful Arcane Theft- Ray of Enfeeblement +15%
Row 5)
Chaos Magic- The reason why Renegade is so powerful! Team buffer, and has chance to give one of three powerful buffs.. Chaotic Growth gives you the survivability and insane healing. Chaos Nexus gives you 30% armor penetration and Critical Chance. And last but not least, Chaotic fury gives 30% more DAMAGE, and 10% lifesteal.
Note: Severe reaction is also a extremely good choice.
Boons
Sharander
Dread Ring
Icewind Dale
PvP Boons
Powers
I have already unlocked every power to its maxed level, so no reason for me to post a screenshot of it. Instead, I will tell you the MUST have abilities to max out.
Class Feature
Chilling Presence- Your core class feature
Storm Fury- The annoying class feature that makes HR’s hate you.
Storm Spell- Crit shock kill
Eye of Storm
At Wills
Magic Missile- the extra damage for when your encounters are on CD. Also used to gain arcane stack.
Ray of Frost- the signature at will of the Control Wizard. FREEZE CONTROL REPEAT
Encounters
Chill Strike- Low Cooldown and free stun
Ice Rays- Homing missiles that do alot of burst damage.
Entangling force- Signature Encounter for control wizard, force choke and do your dps.
Ray of Enfeeblement- Debuff and mitagation
Repel- Absolute must have to keep distance from other classes after blowing off your combos.
Shield- Even with this build, you are still extremely squishy and will be obliterated into pieces if against a good team enemy team. Shield is a must most of the time.
Conduit of Ice- I personally don't prefer this but some Control Wizards use it.
Pugsmasher (risky)
Normal
Rotation's
The order in which you use your abilities are completely situational.
EF>ROF>CHILL STRIKE>Ray of Frost>Repel
For best performance, I recommend you get some of these awesome potions and misc items.

Watermelon Sorbet-682 power and 110 recovery
Major Potion of Force- 200 power
Thanks for reading! I hope you learned something from the build, and wish you the best of luck in PvP.
I'd try going for 43-45k HP
With this new meta especially with cleric, you dont need 43-45k hp. Although it is really preference.
Umm yeah you do. HP is still the best defensive stat to prevent you from being bursted down.
You just don't need 50k HP anymore. Talking about premade PVP though.
Although, yes I agree you need a bit more hp however,I have to say you can wreck hard in premades with just 40k.
You are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too squishy.
wear full purified
switch pain for shielding
use CON instead of BI belt
Put points into CON when respec
These changes would get you much more HP and survivability.
He does make a good point, this probably smashes pugs but in premades is too squishy, however it's easy to adjust that ^^
Nice work flash.
Everything you need to know about CW:
http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?780981-Chem-s-CW-Compendium-Everything-you-need-to-know
PS. If new pvp set won't change, and this stupid drow set with "super bonus" to Tabbed skills will stay as it is, i think it should be very good build ;p
Dude, I go with 26k CW in IWD with AOE spells, just to troll 21k+ GFs with Renegade PvE build doing 50k DPS with one rotation + knife. Dead OP GF. Dead. And, yes, PvP-wise all you need is good survivability and adequate burst, which renegade specialises in.
No wonder he's in the first CW in the ranking system. If I wanted to go full PvP I'd pretty much do the same thing like he did, skills, etc. This is proper build by a proper player for PvP, no question about it.
And
"Chaos Nexus gives you 30% armor penetration and Critical Chance."
I wonder whether this applies to the Red Dragon enchantment, but PvP-wise RoF will get a MAJOR boost, and since it's a dot spell there might be some additional combinations done et cetera.
Extra Hp always comes in handy, but for a renegade might be an overkill.
He does run with a good DC.
*cough* *cough*
hi, flash
Well IWD and PVP aren't exactly the same. Just because you don't ever face Chocolate Shoppe premade in IWD and you can't use your companions and unlimited Iceforge pots to help you. I like renegade and all the skills/build mentioned in this thread by you and Flash but I still feel that 40k+ HP is the way to go. 26k HP is just too easy to get bursted down without letting your or the DC's heals to help you.
Unfortunately I don't because I have already unlocked all the powers. =P
Renegade tree doesn't allow you to spend more than 5 points in another tree.
You have 10 extra points to spend. But that means they have to sacrifice severe reaction for snap freeze
Any decent renegade will take Phantasmal Destruction and Nightmare Wizardry. Chilling advantage (when debugged) and masterfull arcane theft both are better than snap freeze.
So that leaves you just 5 points that you can spend on snap freeze, which is the best option.
Don'd forget to bring the small party popper and small fireworks to celebrate next to the enemy base:)
IWD pots exist in PvP IWD? I'll have to remember that lol. Always hated pots in PvP. Don't know why. 2min CD, right? The way I utilized my Renegade wasn't for PvP BUT it's so easy to get a high amount of sustain even without the 40k + |HP| whas all I wrote.
PvP-wise I'd just go Oppressor CW and stack hp/wis, the usual. Although, Renegade has better sustain so Corrupted gear might come in handy. Then again, all you need for PvP is HP and lots of it, and classes which utilize HP better.
Green buff all the way. And Con belt. And Radiant in every single viable DEF slot. But, still, pales in comparison to the TR/HR/GF/GWF
CWs are much better as supporters in current meta, and renegade's the way to go if you're tired of the boring Oppressor builds for the past...three mods? Yeah.
Regards M8
So you do not run with Severe Reaction in PVP I presume?
Forgive me if I am wrong... but... major potion of force does not stack with elixir of correllons blood.. if you use correlons blood elixir.. then the major potion of force.. the last one used will remain... and major flask of protection or major flask of defense also negate other elixirs when used... Unless this has changed in recent patches.. best to stick with elixirs because their additional bonus's are far superior to just stats
I personnaly don't because I don't pvp that much, but it seems a pretty good defensive mecanism.
