Has "Kicking" from parties become the norm?

Well, if you just send it out randomly, without so much as bothering to talk to the person. You can expect to get it rejected. It's considered fairly rude, especially if the silly pop-up happens while you are busy or fighting. Most people consider it, and random guild invites, little better then spam.

A decent solution that currently exists is better than a hypothetical perfect solution that doesn't..

But right now we have an indecent system. A decent system would only allow kicking disconnected players or not allow kicking at all once the end boss fight starts.

While I think kick votes should be rare, we all take our chances when we run with a PUG. I have never kicked someone in a PUG while being the leader for poor performance or just to score the loot. If they dc, I wait at least 5 minutes, most of the time a lot more, to kick them. Empathy people - we need more empathy.

What I WOULD like so see is the reverse - invite someone into the existing queue if a person dc's. Spent an hour in VT at Valindra's door waiting for someone, anyone, to show up. I had a lot of guildies and friends online but none could seem to hit my queue. grrrr . . . .
    I aim to misbehave

I have a number of folks turn down my Friend request.

It is nice to see a friend in a PVE or PVP... so what is the deal with friend request?

I got like, 10 people on my friend list. Never talk to them, see them, ever. I just ignore people now. Last thing I need is my log spammed up with people logging off and on that I don't even talk to.

If it didn't result in more people being kicked just for not being in the same guild, I'd agree. That's happening often enough as it is. This community isn't ready for anything social that can potentially be abused.

IMO it would mostly help to save a failed run of friends/guildies.
Had plenty of those requests where runs failed on lack of dps.
If you can only bring a dc or a gf it may not be enouph to fix the run,
where bringing my main probably would.
(I am aware some dc's and gf's actually can make the difference,
but I'm not that good on those classes yet ;))

Totally agree with Boldorian. Something needs to be done to stop abuse of power. Ive been in a dungeon and seen people kicked no reason apart from the feeling that someone didn't like them. I also have been kicked at the end they said my gs was to low, yes it was the lowest but I trebled the amount of dmg they had done and had the most kills and dmg in the dungeon. I also agree that things are getting worse as in regards to angry abusive people, people will often ask for help in zone chat and just get abuse, I mean what's that about. If I was cryptic I'd clamp down on abuse with an iron fist. Perhaps a line of stocks in Protectors for offenders characters to spend some time in :P

Would you like to hear something truly pathetic? Myself and 2 other guildies queued for CTA over the weekend. Naturally, one of the non-guildies gets lead and proceeds to do what after the fight? Yup, you guessed it. They actually kicked everyone in a CTA skirmish. Disgusting how far into the scum pits some people crawl.

I have experience a player exploiting the "kick" system by waiting until the boss is dead & simultaniously starting the "kick" vote on 3 of the 5 players. And because people don't always think before voting, there ended up only being the perpetrator of the kicks & a guildie of mine left. I know what you are thinking, "you can't vote to kick with just 3 people left". I learned from this experience that you can, IF the votes were started before the others finished THAT WOULD MAKE IT A GROUP OF 3. I assume that this person had made a habit of pulling this stunt, which could really sour people on even playing the game, 3 at a time in fact. When confronted, he stupidly attempted to cast blame on my guildie that only joined the group to help me get my toon his gloves & thus had no motive. Then faced with being reported, he offered up the drop that he "stole" by thinning the group to 2.

Other times I have qued into an instance repeatedly only to get kicked, because the group was TRYING to farm the Dungeon with just 3. So I had to wait to que that dungeon until they finished that instance.

My ideas (to be discussed & improved upon)

    1. Allow leaders of groups to SET THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS, so if they want to run a Dungeon undermanned, they can without constantly kicking people who just want to get into the dungeon. They win, they people quing & getting kicked win

    2. Don't allow Kicking after boss is killed, instead that slot should allow for a "removal from roll" that would take a nomination & 2 more yes votes. The out of place NEEDer would then at least be allowed to open the chest that they had earned, but not gain by cheating the group.

    3. A delay of the "roll" for loot, say 5 seconds after Need/Greed/Pass option has been taken or expired. No one loses there unless you are trying to snake the loot & run.

Just some ideas to build on

Here is an idea: report the kickers.
After being kicked, send a tell to the party members (leader in case of skirmish) and ask politely why you been kicked. usually the response isnt as polite.
Save the chat log and then submit a GM ticket, abusive behaviour ubder GM help. You'll need to enter the other person handle.
If they'll start getting banned and the word will spread, people will be afraid to kick for no reason.
    Word of ca

Cryptic is not going to ban the kicker. Its a feature that works as intented. Sadly it shows the true nature of humans, egoistic trolls hiding behind a monitor.

    Maybe, maybe not.
I tried it yesterday after I got kicked. Got a reply from a GM saying "theyre investigating and will take action depending on the investigation", so at least they don't ignore those reports.
And kicking is a feature which can be abused. Its not intended to be used at will.
