If you run neverwinter via arc you get massive lag (almost acceptable on the lowest graphics) and yes I have tested this. So for those of you who have problems with lag trying running the game from the installation directory.

Are you sure it's because of Arc?
System Specs and the data which you feels proves your point would be more helpful than just claiming the cause is because of Arc.
well until i was playing with the old launcher that i had without arc the game was incredibly smooth, with arc now after i had to format i can barely play a dungeon ,i don't know what to do,running as admin,xp mode etc just to barely open the game.i wish they could make the files downloadable like old times alongside the arc version for those who are fine like this currently

Since I started the computer the ran arc and then neverwinter and lag fets. Then restart and run neverwinter form the main exe yes arc was the problem to me, now I can hold the browser in my bar without getting lag or disconn.
Specs:
I5 3.33 Ghz
OS 64 bits
RAM 4 GB (a bit low, I know)
Video card GTS 250 1 GB
Edit:KV still lags me when it s around or even in the same instance (small maps)

when you download neverwinter from arc it asks you where it should install it, so just work around, go to the install directory and there is an Neverwinter.exe that s the main game exe run it and the patch window appears with a log in screen.
ohh i have tried many ways ,i was thinking of going back to XP ,that's what i haven't tried yet, might as well keep the game files since to lazy to patch 12.5 GB again.Might be that Windows 7 is what doesn't go well with the game since that's what everyone usually complains about in forums
It has nothing to do with ARC. The issues last night with the lag and disconnects were server side. I was affected by this server issue only once and I have been using ARC for a very long time.
it lags with, or without arc...
i have this lags since today

For those who feel they are getting more performance issues while running ARC, try this and reply back if the issue goes away without running ARC:
Shut down ARC completely. Then find "Neverwinter.exe" (which is the launcher, located in your install directory in the Neverwinter/live folder) and make a short-cut to that. Now use that shortcut to start the Launcher and proceed to log in and play normally. The same can be done for Steam Installations.
Just note, in the future when ARC is fully incorporated, ARC is slated to become mandatory to play any PWE Game. For now, this method can be used to not have to run ARC or Steam in order to play any of Cryptic's three games; STO, CO, and NW. Also, ARC is required to redeem the newer, short, promotional codes. Legacy long codes with dashes in them may be redeemed through the Cryptic Account Service until they are completely phased out. For Steam, this most likely means that eventually running the game through Steam will also load ARC up, just like other Gaming Companies do that have their own unified launchpad. However as the future is unpredictable, this latter is just a hypothesis.
Please report back with your findings after trying this. Thanks!

So after playing the game more I have noticed a few things:
1. I still lag sometimes (like when a GF has KV + SoS on)
2. Arc was a part of the problem but it s not the main reason.
The problem likely isn't ARC or the game itself - it's a problem causing the lag in ARC or the game - either latency or an issue with how your computer is handling the load. Once you get THAT problem solved and the game is running slick-as-snot, you'll find that ARC creates practically no additional load (seriously minimal, to be truthful about it).
But hey, I can understand the knee-jerk reaction of blaming ARC when it's something you don;t appreciate (having ARC, I mean).

this worked for me and I want to help others (why shouldn t I?!) so? I have low ram (4GB) and prob that s my problem, or not who knows?! And even if I had a problem with arc I can always get steam an play with steam... so no point of having this conversation.
I have 4 GB of ram and run windows 7 X64bit with no issues with ARC so it has to be something else.
I too have only 4GB of Ram on a Dual-Core Intel Processor (but I do have Win 8.1 on a 64bit machine, which is less of a system hog than Vista/7 and 32bit machines) and have never had an issue with ARC. It is also worth noting that I do have a nice graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 7770.
I don't use ARC though very often anymore and have it installed through Steam. Even with Steam installed, I don't even run Steam to play NW, STO, or CO. See my post above for details. The reason I don't use ARC or Steam is only because I do a lot of multi-tasking and I like to keep my running programs to a minimum just because. Regardless, when I do though, it is never those programs eating up my CPU/GPU/RAM - it's always other things like Skype, RaidCall, and TeamSpeak3 that eat up and slow down my machine.
So, on that note, I'd suggest to look to whatever else is running on one's machine.
