New type of goldspammers?

Today the last 10-15 min Ive got 4 PMs in chat from goldspammers and a mail too from each of them.

Is this a new annoying type of goldspammers? If so, please fix this. Getting private messages from people with trash in it is annoying as hell.

    Yes, happens a lot.

    I just go invisible on my Options tab.

    Well this is what happens with the level 15 chat requirement. The spammers just find new ways to push back.

    I've gotten really strange spam messages lately asking if I have arti belts to sell.

    This is not new at all, but the frequency of it has no doubt increased dramatically. I wouldn't know, I set to 'invisible except to friends' the first time I saw one.. like a year ago. They just press 'O' and pm straight down the list. And yeah, what Charononus said... They will start trying to trade the things they can't sell so easily (or profitably) for things they can.

    I make it a habit to make myself invisible to all but friends because of the constant spam

    I'm constantly reporting spam for all those that advertise websites in chat, pm, or mail that comes in... and it doesn't seem to decrease the amount I am bombarded with while playing though... anoying as hell... hope they do something about it ASAP

    They are like hydra; cut off one and two grow in its place. They need to find a way to nip the spammers in the bud

    But wasn't the entire point of the level 15 chat limit to stop the spammers? The opinion here seems to be nothing can really stop them. So why again was there this push to punish new players for a system that, as predicted, is proving ineffective.

    all the spam is annoying and something must be done.

    It was simply a first step in trying to deal with them and not 100% effective. I feel they are trying to find ways of stopping them, but too many at one time can put a damper on things.

    Funny, no one mentioned this...first step, when they seemed so confidant that the level limits would be the fix. So, what new barrier or inconvenience will be imposed on legit or new players in these next steps? At what point do we decide that we are only punishing ourselves?

    Not everyone was confident that it would fix things, myself included, but I feel they are trying to fight off the spam mods. Call me naive, but I still have -some- faith left in NW.
