Ponykeg's Bag of Endless Minor Annoyances

edited August 2014 in Bug Reports (PC)
I really enjoy the game. So far, Module 4 has been fun for me.

However, it seems each new update breaks things for which the code should be stable. The large things have already been discussed ad nauseam (e.g. chest bug). I would like to collect here the minor, yet annoying, things that have been recently broken in order to ensure they are brought to the attention of the development team. I will file individual bug reports for each item listed.

Here are two from me:
  • When on the Send Mail tab, it is no longer possible to press "i" to bring up inventory. Prior to Module 4, you could click on one of the attachment boxes then press "i". Switching tabs deletes the To: and Subject: boxes.
  • It is no longer possible to tap Alt and then click Ignore when receiving a friend request. The hot key Shift-2 still works.
  • Start Task does not take the first time after logging in. The button dismisses the task dialog, but the task is not actually started. Subsequent attempts to start task work, even on different characters.
  • In the Tarmalune Trade House dialog, switching from the Browse tab to My Consignments and back to Browse visually resets the "Class" drop-down to "Any Class" when in fact a previously selected, specific class is still selected. Hitting the drop-down shows highlighting around that class.
  • It is no longer possible to scroll up and down through messages in the Inbox using the up and down arrows. Selecting a message with a mouse click still works.

Please, keep it constructive!

Thank you for helping to improve the game.

- Ponykeg

For reference, here are the bug reports thus far (some were already reported). Please add any details not already reported that might help the developers fully understand the issue.

umm the west path in Dread ring that goes to the bone yard, there is an invisible wall at the top of the zig zag bridge that causes you to run all the way around.

When attempting to collect completed professions rewards, upon opening the screen, all of the "Collect Reward" buttons are greyed-out and cannot be clicked-on. They slowly become active and can be clicked for the reward, but it takes about 2-3 seconds for each Collect Reward button to normalize. This is the first time it has ever happened and I have played since the late beta days.

This "feature" may have been put in place to disrupt botting. I am not sure, but that's what I thought when first noticing it.

The easily downloadable bots (which I do not use or condone) use the gateway for professions, which is fast as ever.

Here's one from leveling a new toon today:

    * Zoey Fargo in Blacklake, on the mission where you go into the burning building... she follows you WAYYY close. As in, you can't hardly loot skill nodes unless you run away from her and then dash back to the object before she can get back into touchy-feely range and screw up your target reticule again. :)

I went through that mission with a GF and SW in the last 24 hours and did not notice her being close. However, I did not loot skill nodes. Was she too close during combat as well? What class were you playing?

It was only out of combat where she's up your butt. If you didn't try to loot the skill nodes I'm sure you wouldnt have really noticed much. :)

The mail shortcut for the inventory works. They just changed it so that you need to click OUTSIDE an item box before pressing 'I' rather than inside the box like before. Took me a bit to figure it out, but it does work :)

Thanks for that tip! I'll update the bug report to indicate that both should be supported (I guess it will take a long time before the majority of players figure this out lol).

I got the Cloak of Whatever the flunk from Tyranny campaign.
Says "Level 26 required: Free Appearance Change" but then tries to charge you 51k AD when you try to use it to change something's appearance.

Also the path out of the left side of ...The Arsenal? in DR is blocked by an invisible wall since patch.

3rd minor annoyance...Too many people at the Dragon HEs in Whispering caverns and Rothe Valley. I've only been able to get a few Great Success results from these as the dragon is usually dead within thirty seconds of spawning.

Overall I am enjoying the new patch, and hopefully I can get a few drops from these high level HEs as interest cools down in them.
If the drop rates are anything like on Charthraxis or the one in ebon downs, I may have a chance at getting some decent stuff.
Though I doubt they have the same drop rate, I've already gotten 2 Bone bows and 3 dragon garbs from about 30 great success on Charthraxis.

She has always done this for as long as I remember.
Have created and played over 30 chars in total
and she always has been up my butt, when I try to loot anything. hehe :D

Panderus (the producer) said this should be fixed on Thursday "for reals".

    Thanks, already reported.

That should work itself out in a few days. Right now, many people are working to progress through the campaign.

I can share a "workaround" for this one, arrow keys work as long as you haven't selected a message with the mouse cursor. So, if you just open mail or switch tabs you can keep scrolling with arrow keys as long as you don't click a message.

Yes! I've noticed that too. I was about to put this on the list here. It seems like such a peculiar bug.

I would recommend using the gateway for your professions anyway.

You have to scroll too much on the gateway. Scroll down for the start task button. Scroll up for the task. Scroll down. Scroll up. Scroll down...

On my laptop I have this problem. On my desktop I do not. It just depends on the screen resolution of your monitor. It would be nice of the gateway scaled down or up depending on your screen resolution so that, no matter what computer I'm using, I'd still be able to see the whole thing without scrolling.

As a workaround you can manually zoom out the page with Ctrl-.

Has anyone mentioned the "pixel shader" failure message that appears along the lower band of the screen when the game is loading and the slight orange hue that is present now (especially prominent in IWD)?

For the past few days, the "Chest Unlocked" message no longer appears when entering any dungeon (whether via queue or manually) during DD, or out of DD hour with a daily key. Even without the message, the end chest sometimes does unlock, but not always. (More RNG on top of all the other RNG...)

Some of the monsters in the Dread Ring lairs do not engage in battle... Wilfred just stands there and lets my HR plink away at him. *plink plink plink* Ditto the Knight Commander and Jawbone.

The drop rate for blue gear in Mods 1-3 is almost nil now. Lots and lots and lots of greens, though.

I've noticed that if both my HR and CW are interrupted when using a daily power, sometimes the cast is still successful but without depleting their Action Points at all. (Allowing them to follow up with another daily immediately.)

I do not see that happening on my PC or laptop. Can you provide enough detail for a bug report? What make/model is your graphic card, what version are your drivers, what is your operating system? What is the exact text of the error message?

I suspect that is by design, due to the new value of blue drops for artifact refining.

That message appeared for me after my monitor failed this weekend (it shuts down periodically, for no apparent reason), along the bottom of the loading screen. I uninstalled, reinstalled, the message is gone. But reinstalling is a pain, it took several hours to patch.

    Got another one:

When doing the plague tower quest around char level 19-20ish, when you defeat all the beasties outside and get ready to enter the tower itself, the game for some reason thinks you aren't done doing stuff and asks you 2 separate times if you're SURE you want to go inside the tower.

"Yes I'm sure! Why are you asking me even once?" :)

Thanks for the reports. However, you created threads for each issue and there is no need for this thread. Reports should be made individually as you did recently and by making this thread also, all you're doing is creating a redundant loop of more reading for the developers who might be looking for specific issues and not having the time to sift through threads of random reports that already have reports.

    Safe travels,
