NW Unscheduled Emergency Maintenance 8/4/2014

Greetings adventurers,

Due to an exploit we had to bring down the servers for an emergency maintenance. The exploit was brought to our attention by our fantastic community. Your efforts, enabled us to find and implement a fix as soon as possible. Unfortunately the fix required downtime and will likely require additional maintenance following our investigation. While there is no rollback planned, we will be taking action against people who abused this exploit.

Thank you for your patience, diligence and understanding.

We will keep you updated as the situation develops.

Update: Our maintenance has completed. We can't wait to see you in-game!

    So no Rollback , tell me you have a way to remove all the exploited AD from the game.

    Glad (well hope) my AD I made from the event (legit) is kept in tact. Hope the exploiters do get dealt with. Any eta?

    Rollback would be...to put it mildly...a wee bit annoying.

    God plz no rollback, I just managed to buy a barkshield for less than 800k about a half hour ago...
    No idea what my toon is now.

    i found my mainhand 3 hours ago, a rollback would crush me :(

    No one stated there will be a rollback and neither did they state there was a game breaking exploit.
    Best thing is to sit tight and wait for them to tell us what is going on and stop panicking :)

    If I lose the Coalescent ward I got from my coffer of wondrous augmentation the other day then I'll take three of everything.

    Or I'll just get over it and move on because, in the end, it's just a game. One of the two.

    Some of us know what happened and it is very very very bad.

    That's good to know just please make sure that info is kept to yourself. I really hope there isn't going to be a rollback but never know.

    If the ability to create 40-50k refined AD out of thin air every few seconds for as long as you want isn't gamebreaking then I don't know what is , in the two hours between the video being posted and the server going down there is probably 100's of millions of exploited Ad added to the economy , lol not game breaking.

    Well why does it have to be a secret, if they are fixing it, I , just being curious n all, would like to know what the issue was. That way I could either shrug or get upset right along with everyone else.

    If they are afraid they can't fix it then say that. I'm sure someone will tell me ingame, would it not be better to hear the truth than half truths, lies and mistakes?

    this one looks like it will be worse than the one on Caturday. interested to see how they will avoid a rollback..

    Any post that violates Rules of Conduct is subject to removal. That includes, but is not limited to: posts which discuss or allude to exploits, threats, ultimatums, insults, flames, troll bait posts.

    Bottom line. Also, per Terms of Service, section 15.3, PWE--and ONLY PWE--determines the course of action to be taken. All the torch waving, screaming, threats to quit or not spend money, etc., will not change that...so posts of that nature will also be removed as non-productive.

    This is what scares me too... I dont see how they could roll back considering, what would they rollback to? A few hours ago when the video went live?

    I always hate to see rollbacks and I dont think I see how a rollback would help at all here...

    Hopefully they can catch these guys!!!!!!

    Innocently making foundry so didn't even get an alert. If rollback does get performed, please tell me that we don't lose foundry progress as well. And if entirely AD based they should be able home in on the guys running the exploit and laser extract the cheaters from the game without killing the patient (the rest of the user body). I would hope so anyway...

    If they acknowledged it, then people might make silly suggestions such as 'How about they atone for their mistake by posting some Zen to the zax and removing some of the AD from the picture?'

    Of course that is not a perfect solution, but it would be a start.

    should the worst scenario arise, and a rollback does happen, how far would it likely be?

    it's not possible to roll back, roll back to what this has probably been happening for months. im not trying to be negative but look at all the other times stuff like this has happened.

    a rollback to at least 6 hours ago is needed. needed.
    and perma bans too or people will just abuse everything in game with no consequences

    It's a paper trail. It's obvious this has been done for MONTHS. It all comes down to how much they want to search and ban people and if those people can get their assets dispersed out enough that the dev's give up. It's why in mod 3 we have to refine, it was their solution to getting rid of the duped enchants rather than admitting they screwed up lol..

    So, chances are they will wipe the obvious accounts, temp ban some of the wrong people, and give us an event that we can spend ad on to get an epic item to try and zap some of this AD out of the economy to bring the inflation down.

    OR - let you buy some other item for AD - again much easier than finding the people that do this ever single mod lol. Just my experience in the year I've seen PW operate. I would just love them to admit they screwed up, fire a few people and poof, get this game running smoothly again :D
