I just completed a reroll of my character, and my original appearance was not preserved.
I made the character before the M3 appearance update and the appearance change portion of the reroll forces me to take one of the new appearances. Please allow us to by-pass the appearance change portion entirely if choosing the same race.
If the capability to do all of these changes is present in one token, it would be great to split these changes into multiple tokens. We have name and appearance change services already, which the reroll token does in addition to race and ability score change.
Why not offer one token as 'reroll token' to change only your ability score and then another as 'race change token' to bundle the change of race, appearance, name, and ability score?
Yeah, its kinda of a let down. I was in hope to improve some of my several characters, but wanted to keep their old appearance. Seems its a nope to me.

Since latest patch today, reroll character freezes/disconnects after I click commit changes in the end, when I select the same race and change my appearance by clicking a new face and/or customizing it. When I restart the client, the changes do not take effect.
I would also like to add to this that I was forced to change my name as well in order to get the process to complete -- I could not keep my original name.
I've been able to keep my original name in tests on preview, but yes, you cannot in fact actually retain your original appearance if you have a pre-mod 3 character.
To add insult to injury, you can't zoom in at all in the appearance screens, so you can't even try to get something vaguely decent looking as you can't see well enough. -_-

Are the zoom issues on appearance changes related to the UI behaving strangely when you change your settings from the defaults? I've never had a problem with it.
No, it seems to be a specific issue with the reroll screens. My settings on preview *are* the defaults, and if I go into the Tower of Alteration I can zoom in and out just fine changing appearance there.
Given they consider the "old" appearances deprecated, it's unlikely they'll let you preserve them.
When I tried to use the race change today to change from Tiefling to Human, I went through the process, and then at the end it took forever to go back to the character select screen (which was weird to begin with) and then, when I got back into the game -- no change. Still Tiefling.

Still can't actually keep your original appearance as was promised. Sigh.
