Suggestion: Invisible names in the Moonstone Mask

My suggestion is to disable name/title/guild name completely upon entering the mask.

I think it's self explanatory. For example it makes it more realisitc when RPing (ie: Introducing yourself). There are also some people who have a mysterious character (Mask wearers). What if one day, they decide to go without the mask? The name would give it away, but if it wasn't there. That character could still stay incognito even without wearing the mask.

Hope I made sense, it's past midnight and I can't formulate my ideas correctly ^^

    I see what you are saying, but it would honestly be a mess. Your name is visible in too many places. So you hide it over their head. But what if someone targets you? Or inspects you? Heck, what would you put in the chat bar? It would honestly be REALLY confusing when you get a whole bunch of blank names trying to converse in the same space. Without chat balloons, it would be near impossible.

    Even if you could find a way to make it work. That is honestly a lot of game systems that need to be tweaked and altered to accommodate it, for very little return.

    The name floating above your head is OOC (Out Of Character) information until the person with THAT NAME gives it IC (In Character). Then it becomes IC knowledge. Technically going up to somebody, reading their name above their head without ever RPing with them, and then using that as IC knowledge is metagaming.

    You don't know things as facts IC until you have gotten the information IC somehow in a logical manner. Disabling floaty names above heads physically won't make better RPers.

    If it really bugs you, I believe there is an option to turn off names, or turn them off for people who are not your friends and guildies. I believe it declutters the interface nicely though I've not personally tried it out. Anyway, you could always play around with this for your own preferences.

    the idea is good but the more realistic problem is that usually you would recognize someone from afar or if you stand right infront of him. you would see your friends in a crowd instantly.

    Well, in an mmo this would lead to chaos because you don't have the vision you would need for that, you are slightly above your characters head, and in a crowd, without names, you would have to inspect through dozens of characters to find the ones which your character really knows ic.

    just see it as ooc information with the name. If someone approaches you and calls you by your characters name even though you met the first time, then; 1. someone else told him your name. or 2. metagaming.

    also.. you can deactivate all names in the options but i would not recommend that because.. chaos xD

    Just set your preferences to not display anyone's name, title, Guild info.

    //THAT WAS EASY

    Oh, wait... you only want that invisibility in Moonstone Mask, but want all that info in the rest of the Neverwinter world? It must not be that important to you then. A good role-player can very easily ignore any floater text over someone else's head. You should practice harder at this, OP. :)

    You can turn off names in Interface options. It took me a while to find those options. As a healer who kind of likes seeing HP, I wish I had found it sooner...
