Why? How would it improve the game? If you are about to say something about some rare case of harrassment, report that player then, don't nuke the system from orbit.

Please give us the option to prevent us from being inspected.

You realize that some players were able to hack extra primary stats (this was fixed very recently).

If people weren't able to inspect, then the chances of stuff like this being reported would go way down. The devs don't have a clue in what is going on in the high end circles and for something like this to be missed for over a year does not surprise me but rather proves my point.

Get a clue on what is going.

    I say don't change it.

    How about no...

What the hell does this change? It's not like you have a popup similar to the loot screen saying "RANDOM PERSON IS INSPECTING YOU" in caps.

Being inspected usually means you caught someone's attention, and that person is admiring you / wants to know what armor/weapon/dye/transmute you're wearing.

I have found some very cool looking pieces of gear via inspecting someone else's character. Not everyone is willing to stop what they're doing and tell you what each piece of equipment is that they're using.

Unless a logical reason can be given as to why someone shouldn't be able to inspect your character, I see no reason to remove that ability...

I see his point as some times groups only want people with uber gear and the optimum build to be grouped with, but in the same case if there like that I would not want to group with them anyway. I am a 60 GWF and do not use the perfered build or have purple gear and do just fine on my own and have taken down end bosses in dungeons solo and never need help on all but on mission boss due mostly because I was not in the mood to try more than twice. I use everything to my advantage the monsters slow movement or getting it confused by the terrain, what ever works. I got this one to chaise me enough that I could down a few potions before it caught me, he then got stuck in an area that he could see me and the ai could not cross the barrier but some attacks could hit me so I would step out hit it for a bit and duck back behind the rocks heal and then do it again until he was dead. Had seen my brother back up in a small rock crevice and kill adds as the end boss was too big to fit and get to him.

I think you must consider that every person is an individual,
    with different thoughts and values.
As in real life, some may take some kind of offense, to being inspected/scrutinised,
as it invades their privacy or their comfort zone.

There may be many reasons why an individual may not like the inspection.
Myself, I don't really care and anyone can look at me how they want.
However I think you have to recognise others feelings about this.

No. Others have pointed out very valid reasons that inspection does good things for the game. Someone getting their feelings offended by the possibility of an action that they can never ever confirm, should never cause the limitation of player ability.

I didn't say anything about limiting player ability.
All I said was I think you have to recognise,
that some folks do feel differently about inspection.

it could be the hate people get when people see you have a low gear score especially in pvp its kindof discriminatory maybe not change the ability to inspect but limit what most players see unless their friends or something

i would love to , now that's becoming more pvp its rediculous to be inspected , hide our stats , armors and enchants will be very welcome ,and show only the sum of the gear score .
players copy a lot , and frankly i don't want to be copied .

I like being able to inspect people. Being a new player its something I can do to determine if someone is better than me and then see what they did and think why that might be. I would never hate on someone for building the way they did or their lack of good gear. The only time I'll complain is if I am in an epic dungeon and the bosses aren't dieing.

Like most characters are that unique. Each class has one, maybe two viable armour sets, everyone knows that there are really only 4 or 5 viable weapon and armour enchants and it is so easy to find the best values when it comes to your stats. Seriously, what are you trying to hide?

And when it comes to PVP the variety is even slimmer, with cookie-cutter builds and FoTM classes all the rage.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.

It's NOT the responsibility of the community to do the developers work: not even snooping on possible cheaters.

In a utopic world, yes. In real life, no.

Whatever the checksums, backups, hashes or stuff, if you somehow find a way around them, nobody would ever notice, since noone would be able to inspect, and Cryptic doesn't even remotely have enough manpower to keep an eye on everyone in the game (no company actually does).

I already find it annoying that I can't check the gear of the enemy in pvp after they stomped me. I would like to get a better look at good specs.

I disagree with the opening premise. It is akin to walking into a public place and requesting that no one be allowed to look at you. If being looked at so offends your sensitivities then you should not go into public places. An MMO is the video game equivalent of a public place.

Amazing most all MMOs don't have such a feature and did fine, yet in NW it is a needed feature? The latest "hack" had been around for a long time. It didn't get "discovered" until some guy spammed the zone/trade/LFG chat one night for hours exposing the hack. Obviously gear check wasn't utilize in being the hack catcher in that case....

Anyway, being able to gear check has been a problem for most PvEers just simply trying to advance in gear in their respective GS content. namely in PUGs, because people think they can predetermine the outcome based on GS alone.

In this case, it would be like someone not only looking at you in a public place, but seeing a credit, health, bank acct, SS#, etc report.

Not really, My stats make me a video game mandingo. Someone used a RL example, I elaberated in rebuttal in a RL setting, problem sir?

But I just can think outside the box and see how inspect can ruin peoples game play, as in the sense i posted above. I'm sure the ones that would have the buthurtz of not being able to inspect, are the very ones that vote boot alot in dungeons.

There's this guy named SneakyPeeposXXX who happens to passed by, in Protectors Enclave while I'm doing my Service some of my patrons tried to throw him away but he kept on inspecting me thoroughly, I think I might send this complain to the devs its really bothersome to have someone inspecting you while you're expressing your self though /dancesedu. I feel molested!!! this is freaking me out! help plox!

on a serious note: its really a good feature, I try to stea- understand the concept of another player's build when I lose to them and approach them differently when I see them again in domination.

How about no? I like reviewing people in pugs to get an idea of how effective they will be and if they will need tones of help or not.

Also I want to be able to see people with hacked stats so I can report them.

In-game stats aren't the issue for me, player reporting is.

If you remove inspecting, you are removing the only form of player reporting from gear/stat exploitation.
