By far the best module they've released yet and I'm hoping it will be the stepping stone for Mod 4 and future updates.

Open World PVP - Awesome. Sadly more people would like to complain about it then actually take part in it. The age old saying of "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" comes to mind here. They couldn't have made this better and I can't thank them enough for it. It adds a great lvl of excitement to IWD. The PVP campaign was also a great addition to MOD 3 as well.

PVE - Heroic Encounters...OMG wow. It's so nice to see something that adds an element of randomness to PVE. Such a welcome change. Makes going in to IWD a little different each time. I also can't thank them enough for the high lvl monsters in IWD. I finally have some content that can actually kill me and therefore makes the encounters a challenge for once. That was always my biggest pet peeve with the earlier Mods. Once I lvled each alt I would then have to grind out the dailies for the boons and to unlock the new DD's. There was never anything challenging at all to it. Nothing in Sharandar or The Dread Ring could ever possibly come close to killing me. At least with The Dread Ring you only had to do the daily lair. Sharandar actually made you do the same daily quests over and over and over again. IWD...beautiful. All you have to do is the daily reputation quest which takes all of 5 mins and the rest is 100% optional.

Gear - Personally I love the BI Gear. The look is fantastic and original. The stats allow you to be a jack of all trades for everything. This allows regular gamers that don't have the time to grind out a full T2 PVE or T3 PVP set to actually compete with those that do. The addition of the overload slots is a great idea and I hope they build on this in future Mods as there are a lot of different things they can do with this. The best thing I like about the new gear sets though is that one piece in both the weapon and armer sets can only be acquired by random chance via Epic Encounters. Finally some top end gear that can't just be purchased of the AH for once. Something that actually makes you WORK for it. For me, one of the very best moments in any MMORPG is when you finally get that last piece of gear that you've been trying so hard to get.

In closing I'd just like to say that I honestly don't get why people don't like this MOD. The only thing missing from this game right now is a few challenging DD's and a few more PVP modes with some new maps. Once they add that this game will be pretty much perfect.

The complaints now stem from the fact that there aren't any wars going on. Most instances are dead most of the time.

Also I disagree. They could do a lot of things to make it better. Disallowing instances changing, having very little incentives to participate and making factions trivial contributed to people not being invested/not caring about open world pvp despite the great work they've put into it.

As a pvp:er I must say best mod so far due to opvp, leaderboards, bi armor etc.
Pvp campaign is fun but is tough to complete (25/30), gg npc kills are hardest.
Some people say there is no opvp action, and I agree its usually no action, but sometimes when there are a lot of players on both sides its way better than gg pvp, and you can advance really good in the campaign.
Problem with the opvp is the lack of players due to there is no real reason to enter opvp for non-pvp:ers, except for quests. But those players usually dont fight back and complains in zone chat about being attacked while doing quests...

Considering Sharandar is just a grindfest for a few boons and Dread Ring is a little step above it, I'd agree to that. This module is a huge upgrade. BOP loot made Valindra's Tower and Malabog Castle not as replayable as Castle Never was back in the day.

Problem is, huge 20vs20 wars only happen once every other week and those were the initiative of some guild leaders. The devs seem to be playing defense against this

I enjoyed most of the mod 3 content.

The only thing I would have changed is that whichever faction wins BI domination gets a "bonus" to their BI gear drop rate for any heroic encounters completed for a period of time (possibly up until the next BI domination).

I believe this would have facilitated open world pvp as well as solved the poor drop rate for gear.

I was not fond of it.

The mob density combined with the density of HEs made it difficult to navigate the maps doing quests. I tried to avoid getting tagged for HEs that I had no intention of doing, but many times it happened anyway which could limit the rewards of other people who tried to do those encounters at some point. While the quests themselves were generally ok, the mechanisms for some were poorly implemented - the troll idols being the most noted offender. Also, unlike previous modules, the quests seemed to be randomized each day as they would frequently repeat. The normal mobs on the maps were both stronger than those in Sharandar/Dread Ring and there were more elites in each encounter. My damage dealing chars still didn't have much problem taking them out, CW and GWF ran through them almost as fast as the previous mod encounters, my TR and HR took a bit more time but not that much. My GF and DC took forever to run quests. If certain classes are going to be 'support' then they need to take that into account when designing the solo content.

I gave up pretty early on trying to get the BI drops from HEs. The set bonuses didn't interest me at all so there didn't seem to be much point grinding the armor out. The times I've run KR, I only equipped the two pieces of BI gear long enough to get in. The HEs are a decent idea, but either they got zerged by people seeking BI drops or else they got ignored. So you're either stuck with disappearing mobs and no chance to get decent drops or else you have a nearly impossible task (for the majors) unless you can make your own group to start.

I didn't like that the faction balancing mechanism affected both PVP and PVE players. The PVP zones should have been separate instances with some sort of gating done on that, rather than split up all players regardless of their intentions. Ultimately this led to the nuisances of not being able to switch instances, forcing people to wait before starting dailies or else switching sides and being unable to group up with friends or guildmates for content - even just to queue for dungeons outside of IWD.

I really detest Winter Wolves though, that CC attack makes me nauseous and even if you're immune to it the obnoxious visual still plays. Between them and the Death Wave of Chillborn Zombies, Biggrins was not a favorite of mine. They could have removed the boss and just had you run a gauntlet of wolves and the difficulty wouldn't have changed much.

All of that said, I liked the look of the new mobs and the maps. The quests were often multi part, which helps to make them feel more real. The boons weren't that bad. It's mostly the fifth one that is disappointing as in every module the fourth is bad. The first three are ok and it's good that they DON'T grant GS/stats and escalate the already rampant power creep.

All in all, most of the things I don't like could be fixed pretty easily, but it's doubtful that they will be and they added to a pretty dissatisfied experience.

    What I liked about m3:
    1) Open PvP zone (Idc it's broken. In fact everything is broken so why not broke it more?)
    2) Kessel's skirmish, probably best I found in m3 and the only instance I run for FUN.
    3) PvP campaign and it's rewards :3
    4) New gear which brought some variety to current pvp builds.
    5) Laughing skull. (YOUR MOMA WASN'T HARD ANYONE? Nah, I know that's your moma was an orc but still :D)

Things I really hated about m3:
    1) Rubberbanding and laggs in the first days of the release (okay okay let's be honest, the first days of the release and 3 weeks after that -_-)
    2) PvP leaders board (Though no, false, I actually liked it because it clearly shows me what race and class is clearly overpowered)
    3) Probably AD inflation
    4) No dungeons. I wish we could have more dungeons like the initial t2 we had *sighs*
    5) Yeti. Yeti isn't impressed.

To sum it up. I more liked it than I didn't.

Some problems with module 3 are:

    (1) Players are free to change to one side. That killed open world pvp the same way it killed gg pvp. Everybody just goes to one side and hope some random noobs on the other side jump in and get exploited.

    (2) No epic dungeons.

    (3) Distribution of rewards are obviously biased. The strongest players get the best rewards. The newbies without good gear can only get "thanks for helping out".

    (4) Forced pvp to get the complete Black Ice set. There should be another way for non-pvpers to get the belt.

    (5) Overall rewards are junk, maybe except the Beholder artifact, to non-pvpers.

In a nutshell. Module 3 was clearly designed for open world pvp but it just flat out failed because there is totally no activities.

Module 3 was the first module that got me to stop playing the game.

What they need is a new set of dungeons without BoP items and perhaps instead of what they try to pass off as T3 gear, just drop a component that allows you to upgrade T2 gear to have better stats.

Lets face it, none of the gear they came out with after T2 (except the fallen dragon and fomorian weapons) has been worth using. Not much thought has gone into the design of the new gear.

I enjoyed it, I mean it was monotonous but it was ok. If I could just get my BI main hand all would be well!

I liked the tougher enemies and the Heroic Encounters. I liked the design of the zones and the visuals. The problem for me was that the gear didn't really seem worth all the effort required to get it and the boons were rubbish, so I rapidly lost any sense of accomplishment or progression.

    I second this post.

....and i wonder if the Devs choice on creating black Ice gear that is amazingly weak ( not to mention when worn it makes you look like you've contracted a very bad skin disease) was to comply with so many players crying about OP this and OP that.

    Pros

1.Its not a massive grind like sharander, sharander is way over the top honestly.
2.Boons are ok, not great, but thats ok, its freebie modifiers for going through a easy campaign. Last boons shouldve been better then they were.
3.Instances such as need for meed are kind of fun, the hammer of the quest is a open world individual instance , that was nice.
4.Black Ice Armour was either a minor upgrade, stat rebalancer or useless depending on your setup and class, for MY CW is really re-balanced my stats out much better then profound Thaum did.
Black Ice weapons are the second best set in the game behind the crafted ones, if your not grinding that pve content to get them, these are solid choices (only caveat is that profound might have better stats for some classes)
    5. Kessels skirmish is actually pretty fun and you die if you just run in first, of course it doesnt really require strategy either, it just requires a more shared effort. Which is nice.

    Cons.

    1. HEs.. great in concept terrible in design, due to the limited factor of gear drop. EITHER make all HEs above minor ones into herioc epics to able to drop at the same right for people to get thier gear. All considering this ONE failure is enough to say its a fail. You cannot simply ignore this, its terrible. ALLOW people access to their gear.

    2. Stolen quest objectives, its a issue, a major one somedays.

    3. Lack of people to do HEs in instances, you have too many spread out to prevent lag, but you are preventing people from doing the HEs, ive been in some like 10 man instances, seriously!

    4. Cost of Black Ice Equipment is fairly high, considering they need to be crafted up and empowered, its alot of black ice, you eventually get sick of getting black ice. Lower cost , lower rate of black ice destruction or remove it. IM fine with the enchants fading, that should be enough.

    5. You needed to make the town have everything PE does, including daily quests, HATE to run back to pick up quests from domination master and Lord Nevember.. as the game progresses, you need to allow them into one screen for pickup or give ambassadors in new towns rights to grant them.

Conclusion? They are about even.. Rating 2.5 out of 5 stars or a Meh, its ok rating.

...does "most beautiful landscape" and "least aggravating voiceovers of all modules" count for something?

Yes, I think it probably does!

It's probably a vote of confidence that I can't remember much about the voiceovers- which are just generic American out of work actor fare, but not at all grating. Heather the Alchemist (or somesuch) in Blacklake, in the base game is probably one of the worst attempts at an accent I have ever heard.. in anything (and I am an amateur film maker, so that sets the bar low).

That said, some of the "Scottish" (I use the term lightly) dwarf voices made me wince- they were Mike Meyers as Fat B- terrible. However, the density of awful awful accents is a lot lower than before. It's too bad that we can't get some video game voice acting royalty like Jennifer Hale in der haus, but it's pretty good.

The maps, I admit, do mostly look great. That said, the environments have never really been a weak point in Neverwinter. Other than Mount Hotenow, which looks quite sloppy, the game is often stunning to look at- and it seems like the environment art just keeps getting better. That is something I won't criticise, at least.

(..and I really want a ceiling like the one in Celadane's tower.. all those soft points of light...)

    (1) I have not gotten it from KR and it is not mentioned in any game guides or descriptions so I may be wrong. Anyway, thanks for the correction from Vasdamas an hour ago before your post and it was just 2 posts up from yours. Perhaps you should the posts before you made yours.

    (2) Giving my opinions doesn't constitute whining.

    (3) Perhaps you should tell us more on why is HE more "challenging" and "fun" to make your post more meaningful. Personally, I would rather have less HE in terms of frequency and quantity but better rewards.

was an extremely unfortunate release from a pve perspective, like op said, all is really very tedious grind and there is really nothing worth doing, and all the pieces have exactly the same stupid power... It (together with no respec for classes they changed) was what made me stop playing the game, waiting for m4 and some actually good pve content.

they also should make all zen items bound to account. so the market would become fair again.
