What hapens with the game industry?

Hi neverwinter question but not just neverwinter related, it have become a huge drama for all the game industry!

My question for my fellow users is:

WHY GAMING COMPANIES CAN'T BALANCE ANYMORE?

Lets see at neverwinter for instance. Neverwinter is my favorite game, EVER and i mean it, its not my favorite F2P MMO, its not my favorite MMO, its my favorite GAME, period.

That being said why Cryptic can't balance ANYTHING that have subjetive values? It remembers me of Relic that released Dawn of war 2, the best RTS, EVER and failed to get even close to balance it, and in the first patch of the community driven mod "elite" the game was already balanced. What happens that companies can't balance?

What is the issue?

Look of neverwinter, it have the most talented team EVER, look at each model, at each animation at each skill, ALL OF IT IS beautiful!!!

They can even cordenate the huge team and deploy patches in both the live and test server with so much competence!

So with that being said... Why they can't have the subjective eye to "judge" things properly?

And i am not talking JUST about CLASS balance. Everything that need some balancing in this game is pretty much screwed, for instance.

AD price to upgrade mounts and companions:

- Did Cryptic never tought why people don't buy blue horses? I LOVE most of the blue horses models, but i am unable to enjoy it in game without severely hurting myself, why would anyone save a few dolars buying a blue horse if it costs me 40 dolars in hard capped AD to make it moves as fast as a purple horse for EACH CHAR?

- Exacly the same goes for companions, why would anyone want to buy a blue or green companion? and the fact of then being useless is just and added problem.

- Life steal vs regeneration! In less than 2 weeks of open beta it was obvious to everyone that Life steal was plain better, still not balance about it.

And sure i will not even get started in class balance.

So i will ask once again for you guys. Why several game companies can't balance? Well, actually somes do, but several of then can't and it does seriously hurt their game.

Cheers! :D

It's simple. With the shift to cash shops, downloadable content (at a cost) and the likes, it's much more profitable for a company to not spend (much) resources on balancing and instead focus on stuff that will be a direct financial gain.

In addition, with the now widespread use of internet, it is easy to just put a problem on the side and fix it later (if ever). You can just promise it will eventually be fixed and focus on what makes money instead.

The result is a decrease in the quality of games and an increase of money grabbing games.

Btw, the devs are generally not the ones to make the call. Most of them don't care much about making money but rather to make their creation as good as possible. Sadly, the ones that pay their salary only care about one thing, money.

    - I like my green gelatinous cube mount :D, I bought it even though I already have epic mounts because it is fun. That's just me (and since I have seen a lot of those mounts around, maybe it's not just me that loves it!). I think they want to make it green so that they can sell it cheaper so that more people will buy, just for the fun of it, not for practical reasons. Maybe that's the same for other green/blue mounts. Don't want to spend your hard earned AD to upgrade green/blue mounts? No one says you need to. But if you don't have a single epic mount yet, maybe you should consider upgrading that green/blue mount. Or pay extra $ for the epic one, your choice. The key word is choice.
    - If I'm not wrong the Ioun Stone of Allure is blue as well, that's a popular companion that many players buy. Of course that's just an odd one out. Some blue/green ones give nice stats and people buy them and then upgrade them. Some just buy them for the looks. Not everyone is going for killer stats, imo.

At the end of the day, a vendor e.g. a car manufacturer will sell a range of goods that appeal to different people, say from a cheap small and compact car to an expensive luxurious one, and it's up to the consumer to choose and buy whatever they like. No one is forcing you to buy or upgrade.

P.S. A lot of players are able to get enough AD to pay for the upgrading in just a few days of grinding/AH selling/Leadership without spending real $. So the devs have already considered that and price the upgrades accordingly. Saying that it cost an equivalent of $40 real money isn't exactly right when it is actually free, but effort is required.

I think it's a little on the expensive side in general, whether it is intentional or not. When AD look like a 3rd world currency. Sorry about your blue horse situation there. I buy purples and throw them away. I don't know why I just said that but it's true.

Most of the games nowaday are designed on the economy point of view.
