Some additional changes to better change the divide between Iron Vanguard as a Tank/Control option and Swordmaster as a raw damage dealing option
Guardian Fighter: Weaponmaster's Strike: This power now deals ~48% more damage.
Guardian Fighter: Flourish: This power now deals ~55% more damage and stuns for 3 seconds (2 seconds on players).
These changes will bring the damage in line with what a GWF is capable of using the same powers. Great Weapon Fighters will be getting the reverse treatment on Iron Vangaurd powers (so they will deal the same damage a Guardian Fighter would with the same power).
Would actually be worth using weapon master strike. may even make up for the aoe damage loss from frontline surge, but would find it hard to find a replacement for it.

I am very concerned about my class, the sharing of paragon paths between GF and GWF was already realy bad. But the current efforts to change the guard/block mechanics, and the seemingly coming change to make iron vanguard the tanky path and swordmaster the dps path is even worse. If I want to be a GF leaning towards dps, I don't want to have to choose the swordmaster paragaon path, a path I never asked to get.
I want to stay an IV conq GF focused on some dps, some tanking and some control. I don't want to lose dps just because I raise my shield. I don't want unwelcome changes to my paragon path just because the GWF has to be balanced. I question the changes to enhanced mark, a class feat that many use precisely because it already is good while class feats like enduring warrior are hardly used by any GF. I don't want terrifying impact doing 3% the damage of what it normally does because the mob gets sucked into an arcane sing. I don't want to move forward while using agravating strike and thus moving beyond the group of mobs that is concentrated in the arcane sing. When I use aggravating strike not to guard while attacking, but just to make use of its taunting effect, I don't want my guard meter to go down and lose dps at the same time. As a european player with a high ping and lag spikes I raise my shield long before an attack occurs, and I lower my shield later than necessary, because the information about the attack impacting my shield has to travel first from the usa to europe, and I don't want to lose guardmeter and dps while guarding all that time. If I have temporary hitpoints which trigger a beneficial feat, I don't want to lose them to an attack, because my shield only mitigates 90% of the damge.
I want developers to finally listen to experienced GF players who advocate mainly for more dps (NOT by using the swordmaster paragon path), shorter casting times for some specific powers and a general, moderate threat buff. A good start would be to give GF class finally a seperate forum to acknowledge that they are as much worth as any other class.

You will not lose any damage in the IV path from what I read, only the GWF is being lowered in the IV path as all their abilities like ours do 3 times the damage! So you will be unchanged and GWF IV will have less Damage. On the other side however if you do choose to try Swordmaster you will have less aoe damage but better single target damage.
Its pretty awesome I think! Trying not to be biased as I play SM, but still give both paths some synergy.
EDIT: As far as the guard mechanic it needs to be changed back or boosted substantially!!!!!

Thank you for supporting the old guard mechanics, I appreciate any support in this matter! I don't want the new guard mechanics buffed though, I want it completely scrapped.
That's what I was refering to, I don't want IV to be the paragon path that deals less dps.

From what I read on Devtracker, Gentlemancrush has said the old system could not be tweaked to what they wanted to achieve and this guard is the future! Not sure we shall see....

Yea, they said they will increase its duration substantially so.... If it lasted 15 seconds instead of 4 and recharged in 5-6 seconds I think it could be ok!

I'm really excited about these changes. I play a swordmaster/protector build because WMS allows me to tag more enemies with my 10% damage debuff. The bonus to damage can only help me. I haven't been using flourish but I may find a spot for it now.

Yea I would use Flourish if the animation was way faster, but Weapon Master Strike now is sweet, especially if you slot Steel Blitz.

I play Sword master exclusively because its better single target DPS, and now it will more so.
The best single target DPS in PVP for a GF is (imo) KC-LS-BC/AoD/GW if feated and TR to keep pressure on Ranged people. The SM paragon doesnt affect this unless you feat WMS to boost Encounters( personally I think the 5 points are better spent elsewhere as the buff's duration is short ) and you lose the Rush. The only advantage of SM over IV as I see it is the 5 sec invulnerability.
Feel free to 'open my eyes' so to speak as Im willing to learn new tricks as a GF.

I assume you mean in PVE.. well you cant compare an aoe at-will to a mass prone ranged encounter unless that at-will does a TON of dmg and kills your targets so fast that you dont need to control them.

One more sign that the PvP side is ruining the PvE side of the game.
What exactly is ruined? Right now GWF / CW can destroy any and every part of the PVE game? Changing them will not change this, it will just take a few mins longer!

Honestly these changes are absolutely stupid and make no sense. They want to increase GF damage and decrease GWF damage so they do the same?? Tell me how this makes any sense whats so ever, a GF is carrying a tiny *** sword and a shield and does the same amount of damage as a guy carrying a gigantic HAMSTER claymore swinging with both hands? These devs are HAMSTER HAMSTER they haven't a clue how to fix anything, all they seem to know how to do is break stuff. What the hell is the point of the big *** two handed sword if I am going to be doing the same amount of damage as the guy with the tiny sword?

No you misread, the GF is getting more damage in the Swordmaster tree but not merely close to what a GWF can do. When the trees were given to each the GF tree for Sword Master was nerfed from what it was to a GWF so we still hit for very little using SM, however when the GWF got Iron Vanguard the entire tree was super buffed so GWFs got all the GF abilities but superior buffed versions of them.
Now they are reverting the IV tree for GWF down so its comparable to the Guardian Fighters version and buffing the SM tree for GF up a little bit but still not even close as our encounters only hit for 6k Cresendo with 9000 power only hits for 10k unmitigated.
Hopefully they buff SM more, maybe give the GF some more zeal!
EDIT: You certainly weren't complaining when GWF had better DR mitigation and survivability and the massive burst? Seems a bit hypocrite to me... Were you posting in here saying "Hey how does a GWF with no shield have better survival then a GF with a shield being a pure tank?

GF do about 1 tenth the damage of a GWF and after the changes that will be still true. GWF unstoppable giving 25%-50% DR while immune, and healing and speeding up attacks while building more determination was pretty ridiculous? GFs are usually around 45%-50% DR and thats with low deflection whereas a GWf was able to achieve almost the same DR but much better using offensive abilities. None of the GWFs complained they were more tanky then a GF. Yet you are here complaining a GF will do the same damage as GWf which is NOT what he said! Hell he only boosted 2 abilities...

EDIT: Weapon Masters Strike on a GF hits for about 600 damage add 48% and now it hits for a WHOPPING 888 damage! WOW!!!!!!! better watch out GWFS...

After reading that the only the only conclusion one could draw is they will be doing the same amount of damage as each other. Now you came back and stated that will not be the case but reading what you posted originally said it would. Thats where I became confused. And as far as DR I would have to say again the figures are off. My GWF sitting 2/2 titans and 2/2 Berserker's has about 39% DR. His dps is abysmal at best, once I specced out of destroyers and into sentinels for the supposed increase in threat my damage went right out the window and GF's end up higher on the chart than I do. And thats on live not sure whats happening on preview.
Also as for the unstoppable DR buff well that's been dropped considerably for GWFs as well.
Unstoppable: Unstoppable now grants 5~10% damage resist when activated (down from 25~50%)
Now granted a full spec Sentinel will get that back but here is the thing, your DR stays at 45 to 50% constantly, GWF only jumps up there for a few seconds then drops back down. And furthermore a sentinel GWF does not regen very much determination at all because they already suffer a huge reduction in damage by going the sent. route rather than destroyer and losing the feats that increase its regen. Instead they must gain it by receiving damage but as it sits they have a hard time maintaining aggro because of the reduced damage they do they gain much less threat and they have no taunt like abilities. With mod 4 determining shout is supposed to work like a taunt but its on a 16 second cool down so you will only have that aggro for a few seconds before its ripped away by some dpser. So with that being said the idea that GWF sent. will be able to maintain a DR higher or even equal to a GF for enough time to say they have better survivability is just not true. At least not because of their DR, if their surviving better then the only thing I can think of is because of the life steal that comes on much of their gear.
So now they do less damage than before and have less DR so what I was going on about is they already took away much of our DR why do they also need to drop our damage? You don't fix the GF by breaking the GWF. You just fix the GF.

Again I think your missing the point. Your running your figures off of the idea that a sent. spec'd GWF can keep unstoppable up non stop which is by far not the case. Because of the poor damage out put and the lack of feats that cause determination to build at a rapid pace the only way to gain determination is by taking damage. But since they do very little damage and generate fairly low threat and have a lot of trouble gaining and holding aggro they build determination very slowly. So unstoppable on a sent build can be used at best once every min maybe two. So your GF by far has much more DR in the end because yours stays constant where as the GWF will drop to much lower levels and everyone now and again spike but only for 5 or 6 seconds then its back to lower levels for another minute or two.
I also want to ask you if you have run with any sent spec'd GWFs? Because I have run with several GF's and I can tell you that at the end of nearly all runs I am at the very bottom of the dps chart in every encounter with the GF being usually in the 3rd spot so you do overall more damage than a GWF. Mainly because of your cleave I would suspect that thats your advantage, you were supposed to be the tank and generate threat and hold aggro on more than one mob at a time, and you do. The problem lies not with you not being equal to the GWF but with the mechanics written into the game itself. I want to reiterate that the GWF gear even their Def. stuff comes with much regen and life steal. If they survive better its not because they have way higher DR (which is not the case) and its not because they do so much OP damage they just kill everything so fast because that is not the case either. It would have to be because of the stats available from their gear that give them that little bit of edge.
And on a side note my wife runs a GF level 60 and she has no problem surviving at all. I took her out with my GWF and we ran dailies in all 3 areas, Shar, Dread, and IWD and she had no problems staying alive and I can tell you I did not take out anything any faster than she did with my sent build. We had to use pots of course but thats to be expected. I do however want to mention that she had no problem holding aggro and not only could she keep me from getting it but she could take it from me as well. So in the end when it comes to tanking the GF is superior. Maybe the problem isnt the GF not being a good tank, maybe its the way the game was designed so they arent needed. Which might be why no one really runs Sent. build GWF they all run SM Destroyers which I will say survive very well because they do a ton of damage (they are supposed to) and can stack **** loads of life steal.

with +48% damage on wms, you wont needto use cleave. if you are conqueror you will have 5 extra points to put into something useless :P
I'd also be happy with the new guard if it didn't decrease unless damage is taken. It changes the whole feel of GF gameplay making it drain.
e.g if im on a node in pvp i like to keep my guard up whilst i pan around for new threats, so no one can get the jump on me.

I assume you mean in PVE.. well you cant compare an aoe at-will to a mass prone ranged encounter unless that at-will does a TON of dmg and kills your targets so fast that you dont need to control them.

What exactly is ruined? Right now GWF / CW can destroy any and every part of the PVE game? Changing them will not change this, it will just take a few mins longer!

No you misread, the GF is getting more damage in the Swordmaster tree but not merely close to what a GWF can do. When the trees were given to each the GF tree for Sword Master was nerfed from what it was to a GWF so we still hit for very little using SM, however when the GWF got Iron Vanguard the entire tree was super buffed so GWFs got all the GF abilities but superior buffed versions of them.
Now they are reverting the IV tree for GWF down so its comparable to the Guardian Fighters version and buffing the SM tree for GF up a little bit but still not even close as our encounters only hit for 6k Cresendo with 9000 power only hits for 10k unmitigated.
Hopefully they buff SM more, maybe give the GF some more zeal!
EDIT: You certainly weren't complaining when GWF had better DR mitigation and survivability and the massive burst? Seems a bit hypocrite to me... Were you posting in here saying "Hey how does a GWF with no shield have better survival then a GF with a shield being a pure tank?

Well all the way up to your edit I thought hmm maybe I just don't understand the wording because it seems to read that they are bringing the GF damage from those abilities to levels of what the GWF is capable of. But then I get to your edit and you actually turn into a prick with your name calling all over a game. I was unware that a pure tank GF cannot survive in combat and its not the GWF's fault that is happening nor is it my fault. So name calling and trash talking just makes you look pretty low and pathetic in my view. Now let me ask you this does the GF gear come with life steal? How much DR do you get in T2 gear compared to a GWF? Maybe instead of calling me a hyprcrite because I dont believe a GF should do near as much damage as a GWF you should complain to cryptic about how your class is broken and not at me for failing to do it for you. And on a side note my sentinel GWF does nearly no damage at all compared to a destroyer GWF hell even GF do more damage that my GWF. I ran several instances with my GWF specced to tank and the 2 runs I shared with a GF they ended the runs with more damage by far than I did so your rant about massive burst is complete BS.
GF do about 1 tenth the damage of a GWF and after the changes that will be still true. GWF unstoppable giving 25%-50% DR while immune, and healing and speeding up attacks while building more determination was pretty ridiculous? GFs are usually around 45%-50% DR and thats with low deflection whereas a GWf was able to achieve almost the same DR but much better using offensive abilities. None of the GWFs complained they were more tanky then a GF. Yet you are here complaining a GF will do the same damage as GWf which is NOT what he said! Hell he only boosted 2 abilities...
Guardian Fighter: Weaponmaster's Strike: This power now deals ~48% more damage.
Guardian Fighter: Flourish: This power now deals ~55% more damage and stuns for 3 seconds (2 seconds on players).
Hardly going to make a difference actually!
EDIT: Weapon Masters Strike on a GF hits for about 600 damage add 48% and now it hits for a WHOPPING 888 damage! WOW!!!!!!! better watch out GWFS...
Old WMS = 1200 damage
New WMS = 1776 damage

These changes will bring the damage in line with what a GWF is capable of using the same powers. Great Weapon Fighters will be getting the reverse treatment on Iron Vangaurd powers (so they will deal the same damage a Guardian Fighter would with the same power).
After reading that the only the only conclusion one could draw is they will be doing the same amount of damage as each other. Now you came back and stated that will not be the case but reading what you posted originally said it would. Thats where I became confused. And as far as DR I would have to say again the figures are off. My GWF sitting 2/2 titans and 2/2 Berserker's has about 39% DR. His dps is abysmal at best, once I specced out of destroyers and into sentinels for the supposed increase in threat my damage went right out the window and GF's end up higher on the chart than I do. And thats on live not sure whats happening on preview.
Also as for the unstoppable DR buff well that's been dropped considerably for GWFs as well.
Unstoppable: Unstoppable now grants 5~10% damage resist when activated (down from 25~50%)
Now granted a full spec Sentinel will get that back but here is the thing, your DR stays at 45 to 50% constantly, GWF only jumps up there for a few seconds then drops back down. And furthermore a sentinel GWF does not regen very much determination at all because they already suffer a huge reduction in damage by going the sent. route rather than destroyer and losing the feats that increase its regen. Instead they must gain it by receiving damage but as it sits they have a hard time maintaining aggro because of the reduced damage they do they gain much less threat and they have no taunt like abilities. With mod 4 determining shout is supposed to work like a taunt but its on a 16 second cool down so you will only have that aggro for a few seconds before its ripped away by some dpser. So with that being said the idea that GWF sent. will be able to maintain a DR higher or even equal to a GF for enough time to say they have better survivability is just not true. At least not because of their DR, if their surviving better then the only thing I can think of is because of the life steal that comes on much of their gear.
So now they do less damage than before and have less DR so what I was going on about is they already took away much of our DR why do they also need to drop our damage? You don't fix the GF by breaking the GWF. You just fix the GF.
The only 2 abilities we have heard our getting buffed are the above ones, I/we have not heard any change in preview GFs still hit for ridiculously low damage compared to the GWF!
edit: I do not have a GWF and refuse to make one as of now anyway, I encourage you if you have a GWF and a GF to copy them both to Preview. You can compare encounters and At wills, and if you think your Sentinels damage went to hell wait till you see how much damage them same encounters do on the GF!
We do 1/3rd on everything! From Encounters to At wills even compared to your sentinel.The GF right now on preview is a weak poorly designed class with no synergy in the game other then threat! We cannot survive any threat but we can make it now... As for pvp we will be target dummies standing on nodes as meat shields running around as running stat padders for the dps classes! Crush REFUSES to give the GF any marginal dps increase other then quirky abilities that negate efficient play.

Again I think your missing the point. Your running your figures off of the idea that a sent. spec'd GWF can keep unstoppable up non stop which is by far not the case. Because of the poor damage out put and the lack of feats that cause determination to build at a rapid pace the only way to gain determination is by taking damage. But since they do very little damage and generate fairly low threat and have a lot of trouble gaining and holding aggro they build determination very slowly. So unstoppable on a sent build can be used at best once every min maybe two. So your GF by far has much more DR in the end because yours stays constant where as the GWF will drop to much lower levels and everyone now and again spike but only for 5 or 6 seconds then its back to lower levels for another minute or two.
I also want to ask you if you have run with any sent spec'd GWFs? Because I have run with several GF's and I can tell you that at the end of nearly all runs I am at the very bottom of the dps chart in every encounter with the GF being usually in the 3rd spot so you do overall more damage than a GWF. Mainly because of your cleave I would suspect that thats your advantage, you were supposed to be the tank and generate threat and hold aggro on more than one mob at a time, and you do. The problem lies not with you not being equal to the GWF but with the mechanics written into the game itself. I want to reiterate that the GWF gear even their Def. stuff comes with much regen and life steal. If they survive better its not because they have way higher DR (which is not the case) and its not because they do so much OP damage they just kill everything so fast because that is not the case either. It would have to be because of the stats available from their gear that give them that little bit of edge.
And on a side note my wife runs a GF level 60 and she has no problem surviving at all. I took her out with my GWF and we ran dailies in all 3 areas, Shar, Dread, and IWD and she had no problems staying alive and I can tell you I did not take out anything any faster than she did with my sent build. We had to use pots of course but thats to be expected. I do however want to mention that she had no problem holding aggro and not only could she keep me from getting it but she could take it from me as well. So in the end when it comes to tanking the GF is superior. Maybe the problem isnt the GF not being a good tank, maybe its the way the game was designed so they arent needed. Which might be why no one really runs Sent. build GWF they all run SM Destroyers which I will say survive very well because they do a ton of damage (they are supposed to) and can stack **** loads of life steal.
