Traveling Entertainer active bonus

I just peeked at his active bonus, and it appears to give +100 Critical Strike on damage taken (and, for an unknown amount of time, as usual).

I feel like I'm missing something obvious:
  • The average green companion bonus is a flat +100 stat, and the Armored Orc Wolf does exactly that.
  • There is actually a "conditional" +stat active bonus, that is the one from the Swashbuckler, and gives +200 (not +100) Crit Strike bonus on suffering a crit.

Traveling Entertainer's active bonus seems terrible compared to an average green companion (especially for low threat ranged classes that can't use it consistently). It should be either a flat +1% crit chance, or a minimum of +200 crit... am I wrong?

You aren't wrong regarding its viability but companions have always been severely imbalanced between themselves.

Most of their active bonuses are utter trash. This one is probably far from the worst plus it could be viable in future pure crit PVE builds

its practically free. Though its not optimal, im sure it helps newer players fill in those empty slots.

I can see your point but, yeah, most freebie Active Bonuses are very much in the "better than nothing" category.

+100 flat rate is pretty blegh. This is definitely worse but if it was bumped up to +200 it would still be well within blegh territory for me.

While I hate to be a stinker and I do truly see your point in the grand scheme of things this companion's active bonus is probably best overlooked no matter what. Should it be +200? Probably, but even if it was it still would be something I would only advise players use for the fun factor or because they don't have anything else.

There are plenty of either free or reasonably priced companions with far better active bonuses. That doesn't necessarily mean this companion should stay as is but to me personally it's not something I feel worth pleading to change.

I would say this guy is strictly a novelty companion. The only way I could see someone wanting it for the active bonus is if they have decided all their companion actives must increase crit somehow and they've run out of other options. (I'm not presenting this as a good idea in any way.)

Think of it this way... if you wanted a bunch of other stuff from figurines, your decisions about what to get just became a whole lot easier.

FWIW, I just bought one, and the bonus appears to be static (it gave me +100 immediately) and to NOT stack with itself (i.e. if I get hit a bunch of times, same +100 bonus). I was hoping it would actually be "on damage taken" and stack with itself! :>

So the description is simply wrong and it is basically the Armored Orc Wolf? Thanks. I was wondering which one to give for my GWF from my stash until I get some better companions for her.
