AD Sink Suggestion: Discounted 2nd Mount Upgrades

The basic calculation behind the cost of a mount upgrade is that a "free" mount (basic horse or event mount) + the upgrade cost is somewhat on par with the Zen shop price of an equivalent mount.

That makes sense, as far as that goes.

Unfortunately the price deters players from upgrading "cool" mounts especially when they already have a top-tier mount on that character (or on their account, from founder's packs).

Suggestion:

If a character already has a mount of a given tier, significantly reduce the cost of upgrading other mounts for that same character.

I would love to ride around Icewind Dale on my winter sled. However, for 768K to Rank 2 and another 2,064K to Rank 3, I'll just keep riding my Guardian pack mount, thank you very much. Were the cost perhaps 1/4 - 1/3 as much for characters that have "unlocked" a given mount level, I would certainly part with some diamonds. I bet many other players would too.

There you have it, an AD sink that has zero impact to game balance and would keep players coming back to spend AD for vanity purposes.

What do you think?

Yeah, I've got three epic mounts available to all of my characters which makes the price of mount upgrades even less desirable. If they gave a price break for that, it would be great. Lowering the price to the point where more people were likely to use the AD sink would help the economy as well.

Who will open the boxes if you can go 110% speed without them ?
    Think about it ...

    I'd love to ride a 110% ghost horse ...

You buy lockbox mounts for looks, not utility. If you really want to a 110% speed mount, but a zen mount. They're a better deal.

ZEN mounts are account unlocks, so that's a huge advantage over upgrading a single mount for the same price. If the upgrades were account-wide as well, I'd definitely take a hard look at upgrading some event mounts and such.

Judging from PVP I'd say nobody minus a few have upgraded mounts so far. Shadow Wolf comes to mind though, maybe a few from Midsummer and the Cube.

The... same people who open them now when you can buy a 110% speed account-unlock mount outright... ?

I agree. I think it is very insulting to the players to see the disproportionate costs of upgrading a mount and purple mounts on the zenstore.

Upgrading your mount has a lot to do with wanting a cosmetic change, I think it should cost cheaper

    Agreed.

Did people forget or not know that you can buy an ACCOUNT-WIDE, BIS, PURPLE mount for 1.25mil?

Every single toon you have now and in the future will have a rank 3 mount for a single purchase of 1.25mil or 2500zen.

And if you were smart enough to realize this weeks ago, you could've gotten an account-wide purple mount for 800k just like lots of people did

Or better yet , when you upgrade a mount it works for all of them . My Ranger just HAD to have a cube . And even with the spider or unicorn choices I upgraded the cube to 110 . None of my other toons use the cube though , they would if it was unlocked to 110 speed .
