Let's have a seat. And talk about Grim sets <pours coffee>

So being a "Blue 60" and liking pvp (for the main reason it is dynamic, versus the "boring" PvNpc), I searched ways to improve my toon, aka PVP GEAR.
And I scrutinized the Brutal set and I saw in it great loss for a bigger glory loss. So I went onto Grim sets: let's see.

MY EQUIP (excluding enchantments and belt/jewelry for comparation purpouse), so we are speaking about the 4 standard armor slots:

Power: 1484
ArP: 1484
Defense: 720
Deflect: 594
Critical: 308

No regen, no recovery, no lifesteal: but again, it's all blues (oh I am SW archer spec)

Reminder: with a Brutal Set I gain 450 Regen/lifesteal +700 Critical, but I lose 1000 ArP and 400 Power. Seriously, 400 ArP in a Pvp Set. Ah yeah, tenacity (+656): I'll entertain more who's facerolling me atm..

Again not counting belt, neck and rings. (Belt is blue, neck+rings are Aboleth, btw)

Not let's see the costly Grim Sets: (tenacity for all sets is 738, a "whopping" +82 from Brutal...)

Naturalist Grim Set:

Power: 515
Critical: 0
Arp: 0 (+400 for 2-set)
Recovery: 1144
Defense: 1912
Deflect: 515

Combat Grim Set:

Power: 1144
Critical: 0
Arp: 515(+400 for 2-set)
Recovery: 0
Defense: 766
Deflect: 1144
HP bonus: somewhat 2k?

Archery Set:

Power: 0
Critical: 1144
Arp: 1144(+400 for 2-set)
Recovery: 0
Defense: 1170
Deflect: 0
HP bonus: somewhat 2k?

No regen, no lifesteal...just more tenacity at the end of the day? Just that?

Honestly, if I compare any set to my blue equip I can only see slight, really slight improvements for major losses, like improvements in secondary stats for losses in primary. What the hell guys, just what the hell. for 25k glory (not even speaking about weapons, omg)?
Meaning 200+losses (pug at 60 is way more than 50% loss with this elo), or just straight fireproof way FORTY days with the pvp daily quest (+540glory).

I mean, how could someone get to have the 4-set bonus, HOW? With 0 power in one and 0 crit in another (archer/combat). Everyone says for example that 5k power is "base", so how can you achieve it with pvp gear, while even Profound is not that different from Grim?

Please, share your thoughts: even if they are plain insults, it's ok. I need to UNDERSTAND, not to be pitied :|
Cause now I am wondering if people go in pvp with pve gear, really.

Tenacity is the bees knees in pvp together with regen, you have no idea how much it affects you as a HR. You are also the wrong path for pvp. Every pvp set is better then the pve sets because of the 4/4 setbonus and tenacity. Not even talking about blue items at 60..
Please, share your thoughts: even if they are plain insults.

Do whatever you want and own us with your blue gears you **** :)

HRs that use the Profound Combatant set will have Radiant Enchantments on all Offense Slots. Buy rank 7s and turn them into 8s and above. More Power can also come from artifacts. 3 artifacts with the right stats at Epic level will net you a 900 Power bonus. With all rank 7s and all blue artifacts with Power bonus, you should be a little over 4k Power.

You also want Radiant Enchantments in your Defense slots since the bigger your HP pool is, the bigger the regen ticks.

It's relatively easy to get 1500 Glory per day by doing the PVP Domination Victory and GG Daily Quests alone. The Glory from the quests alone should get you to around 1100 Glory per day. Slot Silvery Enchantments in all utility slots for a boost in Glory gain. Trade your Grym coins for Glory. 10 Grym coins = 500 Glory. Farm Fardelver Crypt for more coins.

Don't bother with the Profound weapons. Try and get the Ancient Trapper set from Castle Never or the Fallen Dragon set from Valindra's Tower/Weaponsmithing. Meanwhile, you can use the Epic bow from the cache reward from Phantasmal Fortress in Dread Ring.

Regen for HRs come mostly from Rings of the Noble Beast, which can be purchased with Seal gotten from doing normal Dread Vault. 7 seals for one ring. There's also an epic belt and a blue neck that comes from Frozen Heart that have nice regen/lifesteal bonuses. Forgot the names and server is down for maintenance.

Thank you for the heads up, ->much<- appreciated. It remains the loss of Critical power though? Or is it covered by Legendary arties + some particular jewelry o.O

I know exactly what you mean, tho i don't do much pvp more pve and i'm a glass cannon and want to be, and damage wise the purple gear just isn't as good as the blues. For example i haven't be able to find a epic belt with a offensive slot it in, but yet you find them in blues all over the place and not just that the epics don't have any with all damage stats they all have +life. Look at these bows for example:
    5_lethal_warden_s_longbow.jpganicent_trapper_s_ornate_longbow.jpg

Keep in mind that the epic is the best in the game and the blue sells on the auction house for less then 100AD. Ya the weapon enchant will make it better then its blue rival (if you have the 3mill to spend on vorpal) but other then that lets add up the stats. The +5 = 1540 total stats and the epic = 1351 total stats, not to mention one of the stats on the epic is deflection, and its not just weapons but all items are like this. The only thing that makes epics worth while are the set bonuses without those equipping them will just reduce your damage significantly.

You're sort of overlooking the +200 increase in base damage.

You'd think that matters as much as the power but if you look at the attack/healing it only decreases it I've tried various experiments although haven't gotten a trappers bow yet but any of the other pre mod 3 bows only decrease damage not boost it. They don't even have set bonuses either. Wepons might not be the best example see these items:

I'd never really paid attention to this; I just thought the epics were better due to the increased damage and the weapon slot. Did you actually use the bow in combat (and not changing anything else) to see if you cranked out more damage?
    I aim to misbehave

i thought the same thing but after trying many bow's (not the trappers bow tho) the damage is actually almost insignificant in compassion to the power, ap, and crit. Even the game says the blues are recommended see below. I'll only change my weapon once i acquire a weapon enchant or get one of the mod 3 two sets with the bonus. If i were to equip purples where i have blues my power will drop 1-2k.

That's precisely what I was talking about: that I could'nt find almost ANY set that had, piece to piece, better stats than my blues. In the end though I see all these "ubermensch" going around in purple, somewhere there must be pieces that make them go almost 3k average (and 5k+ power)...
Because if it's enchants, I have r5s and r5-r7 I don't see THAT MUCH of a difference: so if we are talking about r10 and legendary items, well...that will be another story, completely overriding whatever equip you might don :|

I mean, I always read "It's easier to obtain Profound if you go throu Grim (instead Brutal I guess)": but how being "less squishy" will save/help me if my DPS/CRIT output is way way worse? o.O

When you start fighting players that have tenacity gear on, you will find that fights lasts a bit longer. Killing opponents will require many more power rotations. If you on the other end cannot survive their power rotations, your dps will mean very little. Especially if they get to jump you and you have less than half hp before even using a single Encounter. That is without including the scenarios where you find yourself outnumbered.

That's why many HRs will look into defensive stats as a trade-off for all-out DPS.
