im not bothered, I actually found it pretty funny which was why i posted.
All im really saying is, if a chest suggests a rare item then at least make it a rare item and not something i can simply buy from vendor for a few coins....

The blue chest contains better stuff than the green barrel, which contains better stuff than the little white box. The purple chest contains slightly better stuff. None of it is omfg amazing (except when you get a blue mark of potency I guess). Their loot tables are spelled out on the container item descriptions.

Save up until you get a stack of 99 potions, sell on the AH, and start stacking again.

Some of the chest contents are hilarious from a roleplay perspective:

You open a chest and find: THREE REFUGEES!

Neverwinter's seedy underbelly of contortionist slavetrade, I assume.

    My favourite, however is:

You open a chest of goods and find: TWO SIEGE ENGINES

....I mean, dang: siege engines are huge. I guess they come as flatpack self assembly models?

I know people buy healing pots on the AH but can anyone tell me why they would do that when they can get them for gold instead of AD?????

Ooops did I let out a secret???

It's not a secret. A lot of players find buying things for AD rather than gold more easily affordable, especially at lower levels, or for people who die a lot and need tons of injury kits.

Also, people who swap enchants between PvE and PvP gear regularly need to save gold in every way possible.

Before I capped my Leadership, I used to buy cheap skill kits on the AH to facilitate node farming during the Professions event, because I was gold-poor. Now I get so many from opening containers that I have to sell the excess. It cycles.

They come with a nifty GnomeCo 3D printer. The purple siege engines come with an upgraded RedcapCo 3D printer that also prints severed heads you can toss (reference for those who like to wait and see what certain redcaps say to one another).

Once you get several LvL 20 Leadership Toons going at once you will start to see those things pile up. At that point, wait until you get a hundred (or more) per Toon and go on an Opening Frenzy. You will get enough LvL 4 Refining Mats. that you can put a real dent in a Sub-60 Artifact or your Sub-7 Runes/Enchants. I owe much of my Characters LvL 60+ assorted Artifacts to this process. Just remember, the RNG around here is streaky as all heck, so opening large numbers at once will do you better than a few at a time. I just wish the things were Account Bound so I could combine my Stacks from various Toons.

I prefer the green barrels of goods - they give you 3 items form the list, instead of one, like the blue box grants...

As jorifice1 pointed out, once you get a bunch of leadership tasks running, you'll churn out tons of potions and other kits...
