This sounds true, but has nothing to do with the first statement.
IMO: The way price went up means that only a few bought alot of it in a very short time and they;ll sell right when the new module comes for a huge profit. I think someone should consider limiting the amount of zen one can have at any given time. There is no reason for someone to accumulate so much virtual currency unless they plan to sell it for real cash or have some mental illness.

I am sure staff know but staff can not tell people outside of the company. Not even the mods.
The effects of such a few people is...yeah conspiracy theories are comical at best.
Not to mention I am sure if they want to keep their jobs they wouldn't be abusing that knowledge in such a direct and obviously traceable fashion.
Unless it is a random generated event this is false!
He meant apart from members of cryptic obviously. No need to take what he says absolutely word for word.

Why? People play the stock exchange, people play the exchange here in game. All people need to do is not buy zen if they feel it's too high and it will fall back down. Plus there was a pack at one time for 10000-12000 zen so it's possible to want that.
---
Anyway I personally bought 15k zen on my main for 440 and sold yesterday for 492 since it was too good to miss out on. It looks like the hero of the north sale injected some extra AD into the market and rebought 20k zen for 452. I did miss out on selling my zen on my mule which had 5k zen but I'm not complaining. I don't usually try to play the exchange personally as sometimes it can be hard to predict. Such as this time you couldn't predict another key sale would happen, and you couldn't predict the hotn pack going on sale (bringing prices down?). However before the next module is something you can predict will probably make prices rise.
It cracks me up when people say "The Zen price cap at 500/1 is way too high and needs to be lowered".
To which my response is "The Zen price cap at 50/1 is too low and needs to be raised."
I sell a helluvalot more Zen that I ever sell AD (I never buy Zen, only sell it - you're welcome). This just happens to be my week. If you think the price is too high right now then sell your AD at a lower price. You do not have to wait for the rates to change, you can make the offer now. And when the rate hits that point it will sell. But no, rather that do this you prefer keep your AD in your purse and whine about it.
If you're planning to sell it, then sell it, just choose your price (it does NOT have to be in the range currently trading.)
Seriously, kiwtcherbichen and just sell your AD at the rate you want. You can always cancel the listing and get *all* your AD back if it doesn't sell when you want it to. But no, it's just a lot easier to complain about the uncomplainable.
Nobody knows ahead of time.

Not exactly true. There has always been a key sale preceding every new module or lock box release. This has been a consistent pattern from the very start of the game. With module 3 so close to release it was a given that there would be a key sale at one point. The exact date, was all but spelled out when the lock box resurgence was put on the calendar.
So while there was no formal announcement or leak. Savvy players had all the clues they needed to know this was coming weeks ago.

Actually, that's not true either. There was no key sale before module 2 and there was already a key sale not too long ago.
But you're suggesting putting a cap on zen, which is ludicrous.
While this is a fairly gross exaggeration, you can mostly boil the exchange down to two major forces:
1)Freebie players farming AD to turn into zen to get cool cash shop stuff
2)Paying players buying zen to get cool cash shop stuff or to turn into AD so they don't have to farm it
There is a small percentage of players that could possibly be considered as
3)people who follow the market and profit from buying and selling AD/Zen whenever it's favorable
However the contribution of group 3 to market behavior is minimal at best, because 1 and 2 will always exist in very large numbers, and zen and AD are constantly created from nothing. You can't corner the zen market because people can always buy it and undercut you.
And the important thing to remember is that group 2 is the group that the game wants to court. Group 1 exist purely so they can still claim to be a free game. If everyone was in group 1, the game would collapse. If nobody was in group 1, the game would do just fine. Group 1 is not terribly important to the health of the game. Group 2 are important, and group 2 are doing just great out of the current exchange prices.
i am saying this price on the 5th= 420 6th= 440 =>> 7th = 478 as this forum starting price. Price of today is 440! I do agree some people bought zen ahead of time for 420 or less preparing for the new module. Is not hard to understand that for the few days zen will go up, but there was no reason that price went up so much on 7th as of today price is again at 440 and module 3 is not out yet.

stock market patterns are something that traders look at and if something is likely to happen, they might take action based on that. its considered more of a risky move for short term gains than safe long term gains, but then again the long term investments in NWO have more to do with sitting on rare BoE items and nothing to do with zen trading.

Yeah I usually play by the long term gains. It involves a lot of waiting/hoarding but with the right items you can easily at least double your income and can even get 5 times as much which is a huge step up from the 10-65% gains from the exchange rate against (65% from if you invested when ad/zen was 300 and waited what's likely months for it to be 500, 10% being from 400 investment to ~440). I actually made a spreadsheet and recorded the market prices of ad/zen however it for the most part had little differences apart from some rare spikes or drops. I never felt the confidence to actually play it on the small time scale but maybe that will change, though it'd be for mostly small gain and I only recorded it during the period where the price was gradually increasing as opposed to the time when it went down. It does have the advantage of having easy access to all of your AD though in case you want it now. 2-4 was the most common daily change at the times I recorded it (though limited). Sometimes going up, sometimes going down.

The ones sitting on RoGR and other pristine quality BoE certainly make more than this.
£20 = 2991 Zen = 1,286,130 @ 440
£20 = 2991 Zen = 1,435,680 @ 480
A difference of 150k refined in the space of 24hrs, this was a big day for some, but not all.
If you look at the Key Sale £20 = 2991 zen = 31 Keys = 1,550,000@50k each - 10% = 1,395,000
or
£20 = 2991 Zen = 31 Keys = 1,829,000@59k each - 10% = 1,646,100
A difference of 251k.
Expect to see fervent reviews of the new lockbox :P

I'm guessing the new lockbox will be quite popular ,it has a really cool looking Legendary Black ice warhorse in it (prolly super duper rare drop) and the new black ice ioun stone companion , no idea if it has a epic version of the mount like the beetle lockbox had a legendary and epic version.

For traders it's apportunity for earn more money. Less concurency, more price value. Monopolism :P For me it's a good situation. I wait a good exchange course for spend my AD.
Yeah, Zen sales went to ZERO (No Zen being sold; now at 500/1) - I've never had so much Astral Diamonds in my purse *ever* (8 Million). Now I wonder how this might affect pricing in the AH. I suspect the ZAX will recover in a couple weeks or so. But right now it's a Zen Seller's market for sure.
What's up with the AD/Zen rate being pegged in the 499-500 range, and Zen sometimes even being sold out.
Is something about the new module creating a huge demand for Zen?
Most likely - if no players are offering Zen for AD, then there won't be any on the market. With the new lockbox, coupons, and other stuff, I don't totally surprise me...

Yeah the Zen MArket has definitely been a Sellers market since December.
Zen was around 330 AD. Shot up to 440 and never went down past that (figuratively).
Was going to make a post about this myself - but I will state it here.
Does the Zen market have the capacity to go down again?
Realistically the seller does not need to go below posting for 500 ever. At the moment offering to pay is at 498 and those desperate for the zen will eventually pay the extra 2 AD per Zen.
I can not see the Market dropping to a reasonable rate anytime soon.

Its pegged at 500 before. More then a couple of times, in fact. And each and every time it has come down again, albeit slowly. There is no reason to believe it wont do so again.
TL;DR: The pro way to do it is to not watch the exchange at all. Just post your offer (example: 350/1) - the moment the market hits that rate your AD will sell, even if it's in the middle of the night for you and you are dead to the world in wonderful dreams. Your money is not locked-up because you can cancel your listing offer at any time if you need AD.
