I have a question about the rank 3 result, i created a mithral crucible and thought this would be the rank 3 result but i didnt get the slot. can someone explain how do i get a rank 3 result?
See those "rare" mass jobs (multiple potions/dyes) that have 3 possible outcomes?
You have to use that mithral crucible (along with other blue/purple stuff) to craft something and the outcome needs to be the best one possible (tier3).
I got it by accident... I had purchased three Mithral Mortars (Purple) from the AH so I could go for maximum number of dye packs when crafting them. When I used all three of these purple mortars to earn 6 packs, rather than just 2 or 4 I hit it. I didn't realize achieving this qualifies for that slot unlock. I know there are probably easier/earlier ways to unlock the slot. Just thought I'd mention how I did it.
Funny. Now I know how to do it I'll tansfer those mortars to my alts and have them all craft some GF or Wizzie dye packs! LOL
Side note: use four Blue "Master Alchemist" to get the 100% speed unlock. All that's left is to get three professions up to level 20 and I'm in like Flynt.

There really aren't easier/earlier/cheaper ways to unlock the rank 3 slot. *Any* of the rare batch brews of potions or dye can qualify, so making anything at all in alchemy that you think you can find a use or a market for will work. I don't think it's taken more than 5-6 tries on any character, but usually 1-3.

Wait... you mean I was doinitrite? LOL Well I'm happy, then!
Eeenteresting, I should get off my bum and do this. Thanks everyone, including the accidentally helpful sprite

Yeah, I just get Alchemy up to level 3 and then do a rare task (some batch of potions). I have two blues and two purples and that gives me a 28% chance. Once the rare task pops, I select it and then also click finish early. Since it's only rank 3, it cost 4k - 6k to finish early. I then repeat until I get the rank 3 result.
The alchemy tools are quite cheap right now. 120 - 130K for a purple Crucible or Mortar and 25K for a blue Crucible or Mortar. That's about 300K AD for 4 assets which is pretty cheap. You can save them for alts or just sell them back for a slight loss.
Also 4x Blue alchemists is probably the cheapest way to get the 100% speed bonus right now too.

Not only this, it's also one of the absolute fastest ways if you're just starting out with alchemy, as the first research task only takes 15 minutes with no speed bonuses.

Check all of them, but isn't alchemy stuff usually the cheapest?
