Will an ability score respec ever be implemented into the game?
I'd love to avoid re-rolling my TR with an awful strength roll since I assumed DEX would lead to the highest damage bonus since its the classes main stat; so I would gladly pay $10 to reroll the dice.
After looking around the forums I haven't found a definitive answer, and I'd love to get a response from someone on the inside!
Yes. Absolutely.
Now you have hope.
(Good thing you didn't ask "when?").
~cough~
Now on a serious note: don't hold your breath. It's likely a very technical thing with big hurdles to overcome. I am sure they are focussing on more pressing matters for the time-being.
Oh, and I am on the inside. (I sit here comfortably inside my own skin, at my desk inside my office, which happens to be inside this really big building. So I qualify, yes? Just asking). -wink-
I still don't see why this should be any sort of substantial technical hurdle, since they already implement resetting of all the ability score increases, and thus clearly constantly remember what your starting scores were.
A simply pop-up box just giving you a choice of all the "random" possible starting scores would be fairly straightforward. It wouldn't even have to be particularly pretty or elegant, since it's pretty obvious exactly zero dice are involved in starting score allocations.
Not sure this is going to happen. And if it does, without a gamebreaking glitch that lets you overinvest all your Wisdom into other stats or something along those lines. Seems like too much risk and potential bugginess to introduce a mechanic that incentivizes players to create fewer characters.
you can already buy a respec coin in the zen market, adding an ability score coin would make a sound business choice for Cryptic, I mean this is a FTP game and adding another money making pathway only makes sense and everyone wins

I think a stat-reroll should be added as either a token purchaseable via the Zen store, or have it cost ADs like feats.

Unlikely to be implemented. Ability Score resets are one of those "frequently requested never implemented" things, like disabling visuals on pants and shirts for the *cough* per- I mean *cough* people who like to see more ski- *cough* give their characters a natural feeling!
Coming back to the point, if you really need to re-roll ability scores you can roll a new toon and farm all your stuff again, you spend more Zen that way, know what I mean? And in all reality, the difference ability scores make on your performance is less than 5%. Skill matters a lot more really.

The issue here is perfectionism. While i feel that my Ability and Feat builds are good (i dont want to change any point there at the moment) - i simply cannot forget about the stupid initial roll. Why on Earth it even exists? It is such a HAMSTER mechanics, adds no value for the player at all (in fact, works the opposite way). So was it designed to make players buy character slots, roll new characters, grind for stuff and pay money for something special over and over again? As for me - nah, thanks. Too much work, i won't bother with it when there's so many good games coming live.
