Let us have rank 3 Pigs already without spending 2.7mil
If you want fast and cheap I recommend to buy an account wide Stormraider Clydesdale.
If you want the looks, use your pig.
If you want both at the same time you'll have to spend either some money or a lot of time.
They have to make a living, too.
There is no disadvantage to the Stormraider Clydesdale, the pig is just eye candy. I prefer eye candy costing to usability costing much money (AD/ZEN/$/time).

i agree strongly with this tough it been posted like 100 times allready they dont seem to care + we only got a blue tome for upgrade we need a purple tome too ... i realy try to understand why they refuse to reduce cost of upgrade and add a purple tome so we can upgrade a green to purple ... the zen shop offers some green/blue mounts that actualy look pretty awsome , they could make more "money" this way but seems the game went wrong all da way they dont care that much i see and almost no bug fixes the patch notes are ridiculous

If they are ridiculous don't buy them.
It's easy, unless you are hooked! Then they did a good job.
There is no NEED at all to buy these expensive items.
When the cost of an upgrade to 110% is around the cost of two of the [b[most expensive zen mount in the game[/b] there's something wrong.
Don't get me wrong. I can afford it with just farmed AD. I just don't want to spend the equivalent of a rank 10 on my piggie.
I have no problem at all spending cash on this game, but I will still not waste AD/Zen on an upgrade. They really need to consider the prices they have set on a lot of things.

And there is my point. There is nothing wrong. You do not have to spend it. But you have to spend a few ZEN/AD/time/$ on a 110% mount if you want to be taken serious in PvP.
If you want that bells and whistles or that special freebee upgraded to purple it's your choice, but it will cost you.

If you love your White/Green/Blue mount* sooooooo much, then the current cost of upgrading it is worth it. If the current cost of upgrading your mount* is not worth it, then you simply do not love your mount* as much as you think you do.
I hate to say, but it's really that simple.
No one is twisting your arm to upgrade your mount*.
Either buy the Astral Diamonds with Zen (which is surely what Cryptic wants you to do, and that's a fair want) or take the time, make the effort to grind for those Astral Diamonds.
The question isn't whether it costs too much AD to upgrade a mount*, the question is really whether the time it takes fits within your level of impatience to do so. I am not intending to insult anyone here. If you stop, take a deep breath and actually contemplate what I am saying, then the truth will smack you upside the head, just like it did to me previously.
*Or your Companion, or your Artifact, or your Enchantment, or your Rune Stone, or, or..., ooorrrrrrrr........ Yeah. You get the idea.

You do realize that same could have been said about the insane costs of unslotting enchants and the massive amount of items needed to make high level enchants with the old refining system yet I've heard no one complaining about the new system being cheaper. Same goes for the old transmutation costs, they were also insanely high just to have a different look and yet again, no one complain when cryptic significantly lowered those prices.
My point being simply that while no one is forcing us to do anything in game it doesn't mean that the cost to do something they offered for you (and may very well expect you) to do in game isn't over priced and need to be revised. Lets not forget that when those prices were set finding epic mounts under 1 mill AD was unheard of and if memory serves me correctly I think you were lucky to find one for around 1.5mill. Right now you can buy an epic mount for 450k and that is getting to be a very common price so the idea of lowering the cost to upgrade a mount to epic is not unreasonable especially when you consider that it is cryptic that often gives players the means to get these green mounts.

Yes, I understand all this. I am simply asking people to remember: what is overpriced for you may not be overpriced for the person next to you and vice-versa. I'd love to see companion and mount and even enchantment upgrade prices drop (yes: the current refining system). However, this is the umpteenth thread on the subject. The neverwinter Devs no doubt already know of the complaints on this subject and I'm sure the (long, long approval) process is already set in motion to make an adjustment.
However, that adjustment won't be enough for many and the complaints will continue.
Whenever someone creates a thread on this subject (in-game costs associated with anything being too high) it is because they are frustrated. I get it. They want it *now* and don't want to grind away for it. Well, that's what the Zen Exchange is for: if you don't want to grind for it then buy it.
But then they complain that they don't want to spend any money to buy Astral Diamonds. Simply put: It's case of people's entitlement attitude: they want their cake and they want to eat it to, for free.
My answer to people like that: go take a long walk off a short pier. No, wait: Run, don't walk. Please.
I am unsure what the problem is here, given that no 110% mount performs any other. Cosmetics are, and should be, the ultimate discretionary spending in a game like this. No-one is forcing you to upgrade your OMGcloudyloldoggy to purple, nor is your performance in any way impaired if you don't. A cheaper option to travel that fast already exists.
Upgrading such vanity mounts is a luxury option; it is unsurprising and unimportant if it costs a lot. Indeed, it's the best candidate for costing too much.

I understand your point, and would even agree with except that even the zen store prices for mounts doesn't make sense. Lets take a look at what we have.
500z gives you a choice between 4 green +1 mounts.
800z gives you a green +1 mount (which Im guessing the fact that it's black is the reasoning or the extra 300z cost)
1500z gives you a blue +1 mount
1800z gives you a choice between a green +2 or 2 blue +2 mounts
2500z gives you a choice between a green +1, 2 blue +2 or a purple +3 mount
3000z gives you a choice between a blue +2 mount or a purple +3 mount
3500z gives you a choice between 5 purple +3 mounts
4000z gives you a purple +3 mounts
suffice to say that anyone saying the mount upgrade cost is on par with zen store prices makes no sense at all. I mean the prices are all over the place, 2500z for a +1 mount? really?
I agree that short of free there will always be someone complaining about prices. But seriously, I could point out numerous things in game that have high AD costs that really make no sense unless cryptic expected us to be able to earn far more ADs then we currently can. Just of an example, the traders in the market place, 57.6k AD for a lvl47 blue weapon with crappy stats? Who are they expecting to buy these items? What lvl47 player has 57k AD? Even a cash shopper with bill gate's cash flow wouldn't waste AD on stuff like that.
I have no problems grinding for items, I do however have a problem with being expected to pay far far more then the item/service is worth.
EDIT: just wanted to point out that Im not saying you were making a AD cost vs zen cost argument.

I'll make this quick, first, tell that to PvPers. A 110% can make a huge difference.....granted, it wont make up for a lack of skill and gear.
As for the vanity comment, transmutation is purely for vanity and those prices were lowered....alot
It's not an opinion that it is overpriced, IT IS overpriced. I mean the game has overpriced things anyway compared to other games, but when it's uncompetitive with itself, there's a problem. Atm they are forcing so many people who do want to upgrade their mounts to not pay the costs. Lets not forget that upgrading a companion applies it to 1 character and is non-transferable.
I can get any zen store mount account wide for less than the upgrade costs. I can get a freaking legendary mount with a horrible drop rate from the ah for less. Of course we can choose to not buy it, but it limits customisation that people in this game want. Personally I'm not too bothered, although an epic shadow wolf would be cool. Most people value their money and know the current costs are way out of whack and so a small minority of people will buy them and so the consumers suffer and probably cryptic too. I could potentially invest in many custom mounts if they were account bound and were somewhat reasonably priced.
Not only that, but it makes buying green mounts a terrible idea unless they are the ones with 80% speed and you really REALLY like it. There's a $25 one that is 50%... Also blue ones are also partially pointless to buy. You're best off getting an epic or nothing. Basically cryptic had no idea to price anything in this game, but at least they've been adjusting it and I hope to see them continuing to do so. It'll never be in line with what I think is fair, but it can at least reach the high end of somewhat reasonable.

"I bought this yesterday for full price, I am gonna sue you, I quit, betrayers, I'll never spend a dime in my life ..." just look in the lower depths for rants whenever something has CHANGED, especially when ZEN is associated with it.
But I agree that it is overpriced. That makes it something SPECIAL for others. Making it now cheaper would de-value their SPECIAL by fulfilling your "I want to be special, but don't want to pay as much as the other SPECIAL dudes".
As it is not at all important it is rightly overpriced imho.

I'll make this even quicker. If you need 110%, there are cheaper options. That is the entire point. Buy a Stormraider Clydesdale. Your special upgraded magic doggy mount will not out-perform it. The vanity mounts are luxury items, designed to appeal to those with more money than sense. Obviously, there is an edge case where people with very little money still qualify under that criterion, but by screaming injustice they just throw their special status into an especially unflattering light.

Allow for the ability to "re-skin" a mount (insert Reanimated Destrier joke here). This would encourage more people to buy a purple mount from the Zen store which would be unlocked across their account. Then, if they found or bought a lower level mount in game that they like for a particular character, they could pay a reasonable fee to re-skin their purple mount with the new one.
Encourages more spending this way as more people would be willing to buy a Zen store mount AND re-skin a mount or two on certain characters!
IMO, they would make more money by reducing the price of the upgrades to a level that made more people want to buy them. As it stands now I hardly ever see anyone riding a mount of white/green/blue quality that is moving at an increased speed (to be fair, I don't always pay close attention), leading me to believe that the mount upgrade is one of the least purchased/used things in the game. A price reduction would probably entice more people into using that feature.

That's not a reason to leave something overpriced, as witnessed in the past by reduced prices in the Zen store on other items. People are going to complain regardless, either about the price itself, or the reduction (because they already paid the original price).

On the contrary.
Now people who already bought an account wide ZEN mount will invest additionally a large sum of money to upgrade their Hellhound/shadow/whatever-drops-at-green mount to rank 3.

Not as a general rule, no, we will not. The cost is too prohibitive. I would think very few people, especially those that already have a purple zen mount unlocked account wide, would pay the current cost for what amounts to nothing more than a change in style.

Exactly. Much as I like the armored boar and the dappled horse (so pretty!), I stick to the armored war horse for actually getting around, and my slow mounts will not be upgraded unless I actually run out of absolutely anything else worth buying.

The fact that people who already paid complain about someone who waited getting the thing for cheaper is not a good argument for not making the thing cheaper, if it means even more people will pay the new price point.
Having your thing and using it for longer than new buyers *is* compensation, unless you're facing incredibly unfortunate timing like the fellow who bought a stone mere hours before the big companion sale was announced.
Imagine the whine, threats and tears if they would reduce the costs for upgrading mounts by 50%.

Well people whine too much. People think they have so many rights and can act like spoiled brats unfortunately. I don't see why that's a reason to keep prices artificially high for some artificial sense of being special. They shouldn't feel less special anyway. People can obtain that mount and use it anyway. Having the prices out of most peoples price range is just bad form. It's not like it was the only thing ridiculously over priced, some of which have been corrected.

-Sits back, chomps popcorn, grins-
Oh HAMSTER, this popcorn is *way overpriced*!
Here's the thing:
1) "Overpriced" is a relative and subjective term. What's overpriced to me, may not be to you and vice-versa.
2) No one here is going to change the others' mind. So don't bother.
My comments are strictly from my own point of view. I present them not in an attempt to change someone else's view, but rather so those with opposing views might gain a little insight into why my view apposes theirs, and vice-versa.
Upgrade pricing for anything in Neverwinter is what it is. The Neverwinter officials necessary are, no doubt, fully aware of the issue and complaints. If there is any change coming, it will take a while because there are a lot of department heads, and studies, and all kinds of typical commercial-company "red-tape" that must be dealt with before a final decision is made.

There's a slight difference between the cost of popcorn in movies (that I wouldn't get) and the up to $50 cost to make a mount you may have already bought for cash faster. It wouldn't take much effort to have made the tomes, yet it does take a lot of effort to make an entire standalone game that can easily be gotten for less. Of course value is subjective, but you can compare value with similar offerings elsewhere and within the game itself, and this is bad value. If you actually get the tomes, you obviously don't actually care about value, but you'd be in the minority. I see no reason why it would have been released at such a high cost or why to keep it at that price. There has been other things out of peoples price range previously that they somewhat changed.

It'll never be in line with what I think is fair, but it can at least reach the high end of somewhat reasonable.
Imagine the whine, threats and tears if they would reduce the costs for upgrading mounts by 50%.
Encourages more spending this way as more people would be willing to buy a Zen store mount AND re-skin a mount or two on certain characters!
That's not a reason to leave something overpriced, as witnessed in the past by reduced prices in the Zen store on other items. People are going to complain regardless, either about the price itself, or the reduction (because they already paid the original price).

Having your thing and using it for longer than new buyers *is* compensation, unless you're facing incredibly unfortunate timing like the fellow who bought a stone mere hours before the big companion sale was announced.

There are actually MANY of those threads... just search for refining.
Complaints about costs associated with the new system, yes. Complaints that refining is more complicated than fuse-four, yes.
Complaints from people who made their perfect enchantments under the old system and used a ton more resources than are needed now? Not so much.
Complaints from people who paid exorbitant amounts of AD to unslot enchants when if they'd waited they could have paid 2.5 gold? Not so much.

-shrugs, eats more popcorn-
There's a slight difference between the cost of popcorn in movies (that I wouldn't get) and the up to $50 cost to make a mount you may have already bought for cash faster.
