I don't understand how you can have such a <horrible> system. What's the point of having a timed auction...but the auction just stops permitting bids at some SECRET time?
I bid on an auction at 10 minutes left. Someone outbids me at 1:00 minute...but I just get to sit there and stare even though there is supposedly 59 seconds left????
So <horrible>. So counter-intuitive.

I've tried using the Gateway, but it loads the listings so **** slowly the auction will be long gone by the time it gets around to displaying anything.

Check it out for yourself. Between the horribly slow AH interface and the profession thing that has a better chance of eating your rewards than giving them to you, you're really not missing much by not using it, in my opinion.
Just another case of the rich getting richer and the poor staying poor, in my book. One more nail being driven into the coffin that is Neverwinter. I wonder why I even still bother with this steaming pile.
The trouble with both instances is they don't update the highest bid fast enough. When you know you are not the only person trying for the last bid and it is for an item you really want, the safest thing to do when bidding in the last minute is to ignore what the last highest bid shows and throw a proportional amount on top to stop people outbidding you.
There was a piercing berserker belt yesterday for a ridiculously low price like 150k ad current bid (usually 350+)
I've bid 160k when 1m 02s (roughly) left, and for a minute I was happy that I've bought it for that price watching the timer counting down from 59s to zero. The button "place the bid" was grey for me.
I was outbid in the last seconds for a minimum possible outbid value like 161600. The button was still grey.
There is definetely a some kind of exploit or feature, whatever you call it

If you think that is <horrible>, I've lost bids I placed and at minus two minutes I was the top bidder.
Strange. I've never had the button grey out when bidding from the Gateway.
gateway allows you to bid up to 10 seconds after the timer expires in game i believe

then when I try to bid on my own item, it puts a bid on something different!!? How can I cancel that bid and get my own item back?
1. Once anyone bids on an item, its locked in until the expiration time or until someone buys it out.
2. This is a necro, you could have easily asked in a new thread.

Please fix the AH. It does shut out a huge section of the game with it being so utterly at the whim of the gods. I keep getting "Your bid was unsuccessful. Please try again later" messages, which are almost mocking in timed auctions.
