Star Gauntlet Theory

Yep as you guessed it i put a few copy's of my char onto the test shard to see the chances of the new Gauntlets to get the artifact, And as you guessed once again only 1/104 will get you the artifact. appalling to know a BOP item has such ridicules chances. Not happy at all Cryptic.
What do you guys think about this it'd be interesting to see your guys inputs on this.

Just thought id point out that i opened 40 before i got the artifact so maybe it might be a case of you can only have 1 per char and once you have one you don't get another but even then 1/40 to get one is still a bad chance since you could only open 1 per day before this recent update

    104 sample size? WAY to small a sample size for any meaningful statistic.

    You probably need a minimum of 1000 pulls to really try to get the percentage, and even then that would be a small sample size with a large factor for error.

    Well that's what i have and it took a fair while to set up i am sorry i didn't have more at the time but you will have to go with what i have gotten unless you want to test it yourself with more of them

    I have 10 toons, 3 already have 2 artifacts, 3 have 1, 4 are still blind to Lathander.

    Open the quest with most toons on most days, since they can open those.

    I know a guildie used over 500 before pulling an Eye of Lathander.

    Have just finished using one in Dread Spire and got 2 Peridot ffs. :(
    So anyone that gets any better than that is lucky, in my book.

    I'd guess that it isn't intended to give better chance of a artifact drop ,its probably been made available to allow players to run the lairs more than the one time per day that we could with the Adamantine gauntlet.

    Then why would they make it legendary if the drop chances were the same? On the other hand, confusing everybody on the real value of items seems to be this lockboxes trademark. Maybe the Gauntlet is only legendary in terms of rarity and appearance (orange border ftw!).

    It is "Legendary" because it allows you to open more than 1 Arcane Coffer per day. That's it. It is simply a small bonus item to go along with the scrolls and script that you get with the relic turn in, nothing more.

    I agree that calling it a "LEGENDARY" item is rather confusing because there is nothing really legendary about it.

    NO luck with artifacts for me either. It is nice if you have multiple sacks, you can open w/star and reg gauntlet, and then keep opening with other stars, and ya don't have to redo the dungeon.

    I thought for a moment that the drop rate for Lathander had been reduced, I got 3 in 3 runs on my gwf (I bet someone starts another "nerf gwf" thread), but now I'm back to the land of the peridots

    I just realized I could have saved a lot of time in the last two days...

    Does it only work in this particular order or can you interact with the Chest as long as you have Gauntlets?

    Pretty sure it would be a moot point, unless the game actually allows you to choose which gauntlet to use when you're holding both kinds.

    The message on the arcane coffer is to the effect of "you need a gauntlet to open this". If holding multiples, just keep clicking until they're gone.

    Yeah Beckylunatic is correct , I used 5 that I had gotten plus the Adamantine , when I interacted with the chest it automatically used the Star metal first (because it was first in my bag I guess ) then the Adamantine then I had to open the rest of the Thayan sacks one at a time because you can only hold one legendary gauntlet in your inventory at a time , I ended up getting 3 Aquamarines and 2 green marks from the Legendary gauntlets but got so sick of waiting on the artifact that I caved and bought a Water , no doubt I'll get the stupid artifact tomorrow now that I bought the Waters one -.-

    That is good news at least. I'm eager to put the Dread Ring campaign to rest on some toons and the Artifact is the only thing missing on most of them.

    1% drop rate sounds about right. Completely ridiculous and also disappointing that it nets the same loot and drop rate as the epic. There's a reason why it costs less than a quarter of a key. How legendary...

    Guild member dropped 250 before getting it. Yep, not a good drop rate at all.

    Next thing you know they're come out with a Legendary Mount that has no different stats than the Epic ones! Imagine that!

    I have a guildy who has 5 toons that he has run everyday with the adamantine gauntlet from about day 3 of the event (he leveled up his gauntlets with stuff from lockboxes, he also buys the star gauntlets quite often). I estimate maybe 250 coffers until he got an Eye.

    Well then OP better edit his title and his post because it states and heavily implies that the chance is near or close to 1/104 (in fact, he stated that that is the exact percentage).

    Again, too low of a sample size to indicate that the chances are somewhere around 1/104.

    It is "low" yes I think we all got that OP, it is SUPPOSED to be low or else its value would greatly be diminished.

    i have used over 700 star metal gauntlets and still have not been awarded the eye to date. so GL people. :(

    just used another 150 and no luck total to 850. ill update when i do receive it :/

    Well, you might be unable to determine the exact % with the data given in this thread, but 700 consecutive misses rule out a wide range of possible numbers. This would set the drop rate well below 1/104. Yikes.

    Lucky *******! I got mine after 562 Star Metal Gauntlets. And chances are far less than 1 %. You were just lucky. I base it on the experience of multiple friends who all got it after about 300 - 500 gauntlets. One got it after 610.

    If you're referring to me, it was 350, and before that 230 (from the unsuccessful straight opening before the 350). So, basically, 580 Gauntlets. I got the Eye when I had 18 left.

    - Put the artifact in sale for 2k scrips.

    - Leave the drop rate as it is, and call it a miracle if the artifact actually drops (since it more or less is).

    - Kill 2 birds in 1 shot.

    - Win.

    I can't believe you guys are using hundreds of gauntlets...how are you even getting that many? There's only around 100ish fragments up on the AH at any one time. And buying those would cost millions and millions of AD, far more than the artifact is worth.

    Otherwise, you must be spending thousands of dollars to get something that's...just ok.

    Wow and I thought I was unlucky getting it after between 150 - 180 didn't keep an exact count.

    With me it became an obsession ,I kept buying batches of 30 - 40 and kept telling myself this is the last time lol , still Tymoras gift should more than make up for the AD I spent buying the Gauntlets.

    On the other hand: It's still easier to obtain and cheaper than Seldarine and the Shard.
