Dragon Egg prices have tripled in the past 2 weeks. Time to hunt dragon eggs.
The item description says they "can be found by completing 'Skill Checks'". What skills drop dragon eggs? I have level 20 professions and have never received a Dragon Egg.

Everywhere and no where.
Basically, skill nodes and occasionally enemy mobs. Very rare obviously.
I've found them sometimes during the profession event (the 30 minute window after Gauntlgrym IIRC) from random skill nodes, but they mostly come from profession packs.

Guessing, but I think they realized that they flooded the game with these during one of the events.. Tymora, I think. It may be that they temporarily made them really hard to get and they are waiting for the item to become rare again, before setting the drop rate back to normal.
I really forget where else I used to get them, because I have not seen a new one since that event. And I used to get them pretty regularly before it. I still have a stack of 10-20 on each character who existed at that time.
Of course, I haven't seen a single new coalescent ward since the last big module patch.. so I really have no idea. Maybe it's just too much stuff in the loot tables now? haha

I must have terrible luck then - i have 15+ characters at level 60, always make a beeline for any profession node I see and have never had a Dragon Egg in any of them *cries*
I've never gotten one from a node. The only ones I've ever found came from the Tymora and Waukeen events.

I used to get them primarily from either profession crates (Leadership Task rewards) or from praying, and I can't remember which. Either way, haven't seen one since the Dread Ring was born. I'm pretty sure I did get at least one from a node. Might have been during an event that helped it to happen, I don't know. I remember being very surprised, wherever it came from, because I wasn't used to seeing it.

Same here but with 10 characters but according to wiki they do drop from skill nodes during profession event very rarely , I've never seen any purple resource drop from a skill node, I still have a nice stash of them from the Tymoras gift event , hopefully we will get them to run that again someday .
Yeah, Dragon Eggs come primarily from the Events.
Secondarily from Resource Packs (I.E. the Zen Store and/or the Prayer Pack).
From there they can be found more rarely in the Purple Boxes from the Leadership Profession. I you have a whole bunch of toons running Leadership you can farm enough to take care of all of your Crafting Needs with maybe a few left over to sell on the A.H. when the prices go up.
And, rarest of all, Skill Nodes. I've only seen a tiny handful of these drop and I've been playing regularly since the beginning and all three Beta Weekends.
'Wen considered the nature of time and understood that the universe is, instant by instant, recreated anew. Therefore, he understood, there is in truth no past, only a memory of the past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, he said, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.' Terry Pratchet The Thief Of Time
So basically it's another item that is essentially no longer obtainable by the common folks playing this game (just like coalescent wards).

They have always been rare. If I recall, when I started playing last year, they were selling on the AH for 100k, so they are easier (cheaper) to obtain now.
Apparently there was a bit of a buying spree late last week (at one point there were less than 20 listings).
Prices had been previously stable for a long time around the 30k mark.
The supply has rebounded (100 listings currently), so I think people are just taking advantage of the lingering scarcity-demand and making some fast money. I expect the price to slowly settle back down to what it was before.

Any idea why there was a buying spree? Doesn't seem to make much sense as we are probably 2 modules away from another class release.
No idea why.
Maybe someone with a lot of spare AD logged in and thought the prices were phenomenal?
It could also potentially be market manipulation; even if you were spending 30-50k each to buy all the supply, the price is still around 60k currently, so that's a decent profit. It doesn't take too many million AD to buy a ton of eggs, hehe.
Well I have played 9 characters to level 60. I have almost all maxed at leadership, the armor trade of their class, and weapon master. I have one with alchemy. I promise you I have never seen one. All my toons have 99 stacks of all node kits.
As a side note, making the eggs more expensive may raise the prices for plate and chain? Maybe I can start making that stuff again without a 60% coin toss of making 50, or losing 10 to 15. Those none slotted failures they do add up by golly.
I kid you not, when I say I got one a while ago
on an alt, from a skill node.
Even more astounding, was the node was in the Town Hall,
in the Tower District.
It was the node next to the flag that's lying on the ground,
that tells you lore when you click it.
it was the gifts of tymora event that caused prices to drop as every player and they momma had a chance at one or more and they farmed them during the event.
it was a while back though you can sometimes get them from the professions packs and skill nodes more prevailant through profession even.

Not necessarily true. There is a big chance that they will have a future event that causes to drop this item. In those cases, "common folks" will have just a big of a chance in gathering them

Buy Lockbox keys and professional kits. The only place I've seen them.
Other than the Gift of Tymora event, the only other place I have received them from is the purple leadership reward chest. An extremely rare occurrence, two or three times over the past 4 months.

By the time that happens (if it happens) at least half the currently active common folks, won't even be playing anymore.
I have big issues with drop rates being tweaked due to bot farmers. At this point in time (with very rare exceptions), these items are essentially only obtainable via the AH from bot farmers.

One thing worth noting is that dragon eggs can drop from Leadership Special Packs ("one epic or rare profession resource"), which have been replaced by an alchemy pack in the current crop of lockboxes.
Ergo, supply is going to drop unless/until something brings another influx.

Didn't the dragon egg drop from a event ages ago ? is there no chance that event will ever run again?

There were dragon eggs in the Tymora gift boxes and at a lower rate from one of the prize boxes you could trade up for in the Waukeen event.
I've already seen at least one person miffed that there were no dragon egg drops in the Challenge of the Gods gifts.
Any as-yet-undisclosed future event would be included in my mental list of things that could bring another influx. Repeats of events are possible but not guaranteed, likewise whether the actual drops would even be the same.

Dang, ok maybe ~50-60k will be the new stable price. That's going to wreck havoc with the prices of pants/shirts; I don't envy anyone having to buy one in that future. Also seems like the Artificing & Weaponsmithing Pack was retired too? Maybe Assets for those will finally start gaining some value over the next months.

As mentioned above: the Tymora event last year (I know I racked up ~20 eggs during that and didn't farm it TOO much)
