Idea: Craft new artifacts through Artificing profession

Previously the idea "empty artifacts for crafting" was considered game-breakable by many players so I guess that isn't going to happen.

How about crafting new artifacts through Artificing profession? I just noticed that the icon of Artificing profession is very similar to the default icon of artifact (you see that in empty slots) and then came up with this idea.

It would be good to have more choices of artifacts. And we don't need to worry about they could potentially be game-breaking because devs have the control over what could be crafted.

I will say i agree with this since every artifact goes up to 1000(total,300,300,400) it could be like customized only issue is the use of the artifact like that could be a issue with it

That's possible they could make the materials drop in a module 3 or 4 dungeon and require the assests (can't remember the name of them) just like current weapons from mc or vt.

    That would be kinda neat.

It would also potentially introduce yet another horrific profession levelling grind to every character that is not a DC or CW, assuming that crafted artifacts would be BoP. (Alleviated somewhat if BoA for anyone who has at least one CW or DC with their artificing already levelled up.)

What about the idea of having a crafting task to help add RP to a artifact?
    or to create RP stones?

They had this in the Midwinter event crafting and the implementation was awful because it involved first doing (what felt like) a gazillion micromanagement tasks you couldn't step away from, culminating in a final task that took iirc four hours to finally result in the RP equivalent of a single peridot. It simply wasn't worth the trouble of doing.

Cool idea if they came up with a better system for it.

Just my opinion, of course but... By definition (game-wise, I think,) Artifacts are to be the rarest of the rare, and they shouldn't be churned out in the basement artificing shop. =)

But what if they added a new artifact that was able to be modified... that is, a blank as far as the stats go, but with some innate properties built in that can't be changed?

In addition to the built in property, you could add the stat bonuses through crafting based on what components you placed into it. Enchantments for example? I mean it just adds the capability, the end user would still have to refine it to get the full points value.

It could be protected from becoming OP, by the Power, Stability, Union limitation... would have to be decided during crafting which of the three you wanted to use, with each being limited to a specific list of stats from which to choose.

That could work, I think, if they cared to work it out...

Edit: (You would have to get the artifact blank by whatever means they determine.. not something you fabricate.)

Another edit: (Maybe each of the types P,S, or U, could have a different built-in property...)

Has anyone gotten an Artifact maxed out yet?

Does anyone really know what the most powerful ones are like?

Even so, who is to say, that an Artificer couldn't, in the future, after gaining a Boon from a future Expansion, be able to tweak said Maxed Out Artifact, to accept a Enchantment of Rune Stone slot? (With a boat load of crafting mats thrown in for good measure?)

    Just saying.
