Looking for a new game to play, is this one any good?

Hi I'm looking for a new game to play and wondered if this one would be good to start playing? Are there new people joining or is everyone at max level already? The game itself seems pretty interesting I just don't want to be the only new player in game.

Judging by zone chat on any given day, there are new people all the time.

It is easy (and fun) to get to the level cap at level 60, and not hard to get good enough gear to complete any dungeon in the game.

However, the current public Looking For Group queue is badly broken at present. In addition finding parties in /Zone willing to take a new player (especially with low Gear Score) if you are not a Devoted Cleric (DC) healer is going to be tough unless you manage to find a guild or use the Legit Community channel.

It's a lot of fun, but if you think of it as another WoW or EQ2, you will likely be disappointed.

Think of it, instead, as Diablo 3 with 4E D&D rules. You'll get farther with your expectations, that way.

It's a free game, so why not just try it for yourself?

    Definitely worth a shot.
There are enough new players to give you a nice community and enough veteran players on their third or fourth (or tenth or twentieth) character run throughs to round things out with some experienced voices in low level areas. A good fair number are willing to give advice and a little helping hand freely.
Like any game there are goods and bads and the only way to see if it is for you is to try it for yourself.
You have nothing to loose except a little spare time.

I highly recommend Neverwinter. It's a game that's easy to pickup, but difficult to master.

I will probably be cursed for saying this but I don't recommend it. I do recommend making an account, playing through level 60 and then leaving the game until module 7 or 8 comes out. By that time the end-game should actually have a decent amount of content that isn't just repetitive grind and maybe Cryptic will have made more quests like the Lich's Phylactery in the graveyard (making level 1 to 60 much better as well).

I suppose I do agree with this, the game is plenty fun, but it's not there yet. From what I hear Cryptic will inch the game along and eventually it'll be amazing. It's worth playing purely for the ultra smooth combat that imo is better than other action offerings like Tera or Vindictus. However, 60 is just a handful of dungeons, some immensely unbalanced pvp and daily quest grinds.

Its free and easy to enjoy even solo to 60. What the heck no harm in trying it. I like it until the end game when repeative and story line slows. Most games do that tho. Think of it as a book. Do all the stuff don't race . If you are a level end game racer its not for you.

Roll up a Half-Orc Thief (they renamed it trickster rogue to be PC I suppose) and you will dominate everything.

They have been called rogues since 3rd edition and Trickster Rogue was one of the two builds for rogues in the 4th edition player's handbook (with more options added in the Martial Power and Essentials books).

That doesn't make it an actual class, that's a build. They're just being plain weird with all this naming.

    Thief hasn't been a D&D class for 14 years.
    :p

Of course, when I started Dwarf was a class...

Its pretty much what everyone has already said here.

-Super easy to reach max level 60 with a companion by just following the quest lines(took me about 3 weeks max).

-PvP is horribly unbalanced at the moment with only a few different modes to it and gear plays a huge role compared to actual skill. There is also no penalty at the moment to punish leavers from PvP match. Which causes most matches being horribly one-sided, there is also no matchmaking currently, so it lumps people with few years into the game against fresh level 60s.

-End game is a grind of dailies to get Astral diamonds(Currency for AH and certain items). Due to
gold being only usefull to remove enchants from gear and buying potions, kits for dungeons.

-Only a few end game dungeons which are only doable with a guild of dedicated people, the built in queue system is broken and usually there are instant leaving, if you wipe even once.

So in short, its fun till you hit level 60 pretty much. Then it becomes a grindfest, like most MMOs, but there honestly aint much to do except for daily grinding to get necessary boons/enchants/gear for your character.

I suggest trying it. Cant lose much.

Honestly for whatever reason Cryptic games are pretty heavily populated, I also like the pvp to a point (at max lvl it can be kinda a annoyance vs high geared players but thats any f2p) I say give it a shot...try out the new-ish Hunter ranger for a easy pve class for newbies, though control wizards are kinda the main dungeon class

since the game is free to play, you have nothing to lose to try it out.

since we do not allow flaming in the forums, we're going to close this thread to prevent that.

    thanks and welcome to neverwinter!
