OMG This is just awesome .

Reminds me of dragon dice . I haven't gotten any sleep for three days trying to figure out the best 4 companions . Good news for people hording rust monsters , they going to be in demand .

I tried the gateway , back when it launched , but since I don't use a cell phone I had no reason to use it . Now its on my desktop constantly waiting for my party to regain stamina for another dungeon .

BTW we need to be able to train more then 5 companions at a time :P

It's indeed nice. I've been waiting for something like this for a long time and I hope they will add some more interesting content soon :)
I just wish they will actually fix that **** bug that resulted some people getting stuck on encounter roll screen ._.

I also hope there will be some other use for combat companions ingame. Perhaps, companions arena? :P

Its a great addon but gets completely boring real quick...and I mean quick. Same tier 6 dungeon going for the lightfoot thief, same battles, same bs rolls, same HAMSTER loot.

It can be quite amusing if you don't grind for that companion -_-

Please elaborate on which parts are amusing? Doesnt matter what tier, the battles are the same. Playing below tier 6 yields ridiculous loot thus the only tier you'd be running is 6. Takes about 20-30 minutes to run through a dungeon, during which at the same time ingame you'd get 10x better loot. There really is no point to SCA but to get the companion and maybe the invoke extension.

SCA would be great if it had the option of "leveling the upgrade rank", meaning upon completion of a dungeon, youd get upgrade xp that would lower the cost of a companion upgrade. All other aspects of SCA rewards are almost worthless.

Its very challenging if your companions are the recommended levels . level 4 dungeon is 16 - 20 and my 4 lazy comps can't get it done . Heck they still have difficulties in tier 3 . I need more stars , hence I am leveling a rust monster .
Its a great way to level up companions , and I find it fun .

^This and for no other reason. Full stop.
@Detoxnrelapse: If it's not for you, that's fair. For you. Beyond that: meh.

I think most people will play SCA not for the loot (other than the Tier 6 Companion). For me, and likely most other players of SCA, it's about being able to level-up multiple companions relatively quickly - while not in-game. And it's a simple amusement while doing it.

@OP: Please elaborate about Rust Monster. I have a couple of those I was planning to sell a couple months after lockbox change once the massive influx of them in the Auction House peters-out. You're saying they are kickbutt in SCA? LOL

. . .Just looking at mine now at rank 22, he looks like he will kick butt at rank 30. I'll let you know. I should have him to Rank 30 Tuesday or Wednesday. I find that the rank 30 Ioun Stone of Allure, Sprite, and Will-O'-Wisp also kick some serious butt, followed by the Sylph. My current rank 30's are Ioun Stone of Allure, Sprite, Will-O'-Wisp, Vicious Dire Wolf (Guardian Pack), Sylph (Knight of the Feywild Pack), and Panther (Hero of the North Pack).

I really like the Sword Coast Adventures. I treat it as a lunchtime or break game so I don't grind it, I just play ad hoc.

I love playing SCA. It can turn into a grind fest and become boring if you go all deer in the headlights. The rewards can be less than what is obtain for same time spent in game sure. If I can log into the game and have time to play sure that's what I choose to do. If I don't I can play SCA and if I don't have time to finish I can log in to SCA some other time and continue.

What I think they did is supply players with an alternative way to get your game fix when you cant get into the game. I think they did a fine job at it. I look forward to seeing what they do with this as Neverwinter itself is expanded.

I love that the winter festival had an SCA level. I ground out so many refine points from the crystals that dropped. I think its fun and have actually considered upgrading to/purchasing purple companions to do harder levels. I say way to go cryptic. If you cna make something fun that gets me to seriously consider spending money you did a good job :)

I think having its own section on the forums wouldn't be a bad thing, there is a lot of discussion that can be made for it and the possibility for expansion is there.

However, I was really excited about SCA, but ultimately feel it to be underwhelming. As others have said, the only useful thing to me is the Thief, but without 4 purple pets, I won't be able to get him. Maybe in the future I'll have whats needed to at least have a chance.

I thought it was great during the Winter Festival. Crafting the epic fishing pole was gated by getting rewards from the slalom and Monsters on Ice contests, but I was able to get the emblems through the Winter Festival SCA. That way all 6 of my characters had epic poles by the end of the second day.

I was also able to sneak in some companion leveling and Light of Simril gathering while watching hockey with my husband. :o

I wouldn't mind it, but I'm not seeing a huge use for sifting conversations pertaining to it apart from the other side of things. Now, having a gateway forum that included a Sub-forum for SCA, would make sense. So far, the only Gateway forum that exists is technically for the preview shard, not the live shard.

SCA is something that is an awesome supplement, but does not necessarily shine on its own. It makes for a great incentive to upgrade your companions... if only that was more affordable. Like many things, it's a time sink. But unlike fishing, it's a time sink I enjoy when my attention is too rattled to read or some such.
    contents to be decided

Is there any benefit (in SCA) for getting them to 30? From what I recall they unlock the last die at Rank 26.

I believe every level after 26 a die adds wild card sides to it.

    9 different advanced dice . White key / shield , Yellow star / shield , Red star / shield , Green roll / key , Purple roll / star , and Blue roll / shield . Each character will get 4 and they can be multiple copies . So the 4 that I am going with : beer chest ( W R R Y ) , rustmonster ( Y B P W ) , panther ( W R G Y ) , and sylph ( G P B G ) . Since my companions were about 16 when it started they each only had 2 or less of the extra dice . So I am leveling a rust monster to add . At 2 dice he adds Y and B , which is one of each result .
And his last 2 dice are P and W which add one more of each . So he is the exactly balanced companion with 2 of each result on his advanced die . Which means you can add him to any party . Add to that he is the lowest priced purple companion and I am guessing if more people play sword coast adventures , they surplus of rusty wallaces will dry up .

Crits at high levels , the dragon symbol gives the highest result on the die or ONE of the results not on the die .

Honestly, I've been disappointed with the amount of xp it gives you, I'd rather do dailies that you get 12 of a day that do something that has terrible loot. There's always foundries to I guess, but I'm not overly keen on those. The only point I see to SCA is to get the companion too. I do wonder if it's worth the investment though when you need multiple purples. Apart from that, it's different and something I've somewhat enjoyed, although I haven't played it that much since I've had to level my companions. My cw doesn't have enough theivery for t6 though and my dc still needs her companions levelled.
