Fashion items that should be

A friend who likes to run around in the fashion get-ups recently bought my male toon some fashion items, which I dyed and run around in sometimes. It was the first time I looked into the fashion items selection. There is nothing oralmost nothing. Tribal sleeve tattoos, leather trench coats, sun glasses...people would actually pay a decent amount of money for these things if they were available.

What fashion items would you like to see be available?

Do they have leather trench coats and sunglasses in the Forgotten Realms? I think the only vanity wear they would ever add is stuff that is lore friendly .

Well leather trenches would technically be lore friendly. Leather clothing of all lengths and style have been around for as long as we've been slaughtering poor woodland critters, so a leather trench wouldn't be stretching too far. Other lore breaking fashion though would be bad though. Things like sunglass, top hats and suits, various childish weapon skins like pots and pans swords or bread roll bows

Well, rather than a leather coat a leather cloak (wrap: think Sherlock Holmes) would be lore-friendly. You only need think media-eval-ish to make it work. I concur about the lack of fashion items available, but either way the Z prices are too high so it's probably just as well as it is.

They had gunpowder weapons according to The Cleric Quintet, and some mention in Drizzt books (though they were kinda huge and unstable, more similar to using c4 as explosive than gunpowder since they did break weapons) so getting guns wouldnt be so unrealistic.

sunglasses, at least the old style ones wouldnt be so off, though i would like to get some aviators for my gwf
Sunglasses made from flat panes of smoky quartz, which offered no corrective powers but did protect the eyes from glare were used in China in the 12th century or possibly earlier. Ancient documents describe the use of such crystal sunglasses by judges in ancient Chinese courts to conceal their facial expressions while questioning witnesses.

I'd like a full length black leather trench coat , chunky black boots and goggles with smokey lenses for my CW , that's if goggles are around in the lore . Watched The Matrix too much I think..... still a cool look though xD

    * More proper hats. I'm actually using the fey regalia leaf dyed black to make a cap now which is sort of silly.
    * Goggles. One of the promotion codes gave a cool single monocle with a monster's eye in it but it only covers one eye.
    * More outfits that a mid-wealth city dweller might be dressed in. We have a lot of stuff for wealthy folk and some peasant wear but I'd like more of the stuff that a shopkeeper or farmer might have.
    * More masks like those from the Halloween event. Let people run around with the face of an orc, goblin, or kobold. Maybe some could build a RP community out of them like back in UO.

While at it I want to repeat my desire for the following abilities:
    * Display fashion hat in armor mode, or armor hat in fashion mode.
    * Allow neck items to be displayed in fashion mode (major example: The new scarves).
    * Option to disable shirt and pants display in armor mode.

I second everything serpinecoh said, and add:

Warmer/heavier-looking clothes (big wooly sweaters, dresses, boots, etc.), to balance out the lightweight stuff like noble finery and sun elf regalia. The clothing for guys is mostly all-weather but the ladies' clothing just makes me chilly when I see someone running around in noble finery in Icespire.

Less-frilly clothes for male characters. Even clothes that look simpler on women are pretty ostentatious on guys. My two male characters don't even wear fashion because they just can't rock the frills. I'd much rather go for a sleek, normal-looking outfit with a cloak or something instead of big poofy sleeves and shiny silky fabric for them. Something like Sunite-garb levels of simplicity, except without the weird plunging collar on the shirt for it.

Idk but those items do not sound like a D&D's stuff. Every single fashion item is related with the game's context.
I really want a maid fashion to mix it with the nekomimi from Halloween's event but is not possible cuz it breaks the context.

I agree there should be more fashion items. A few things I'd love to see:

    - Hoods
    - Robes (not dresses, but full robes. Maybe as chest armor?)
    - Cloaks and capes
    - Open jackets
    - High-heeled shoes. Screw realism, I want to look my best. And hey, if it works for Batgirl, it works for me. ;)
    - Backpacks
    - Pouches that hangs on your belt, or over your shoulder Indy-style. (where do we put all the junk we collect anyway?) :)

Well for me the Apparatus of Kwalish is a sure genre buster, it and similar things in NWO definitely cross over from high-fantasy to steam-punk. I am sure anyone could reference title and verse of some officially licensed FR/DnD media which makes these genre-busters "official" but to me that is splitting hairs. And I don't really care personally, NWO is not so atmospheric or story driven as it is action and visuals driven. Make a pair of sunglasses and call them "gnomish inventor goggles", doesn't really matter. The trenchcoat, call it a great coat over over cloak or whatever.

My own cw is a female steam-punk version of Feyd-Rautha (Stings character in the first movie adaptation of Dune).

Or hooded robes? How cool would that be? And how could anyone say a traditional cowled robe falls outside of FR or the genre in general?

More PANTS for female characters. No skirt/loin-cloth drapery pieces attached. Preferably not silly pantaloons or shiny disco pants.

More non-poofy-sleeved shirts and tunics that aren't "going to the fancy ball" clothing.

At least one more "casual clothing" slot, two more would be better. eg, I was disappointed the Winter Scarves were only usable with the fighting-armor.

More hats to wear that aren't "masks"

And to repeat myself ... PANTS on both male and female.

The closest I can get to something like plain pants is to double-dye the patched peasant pants to be almost pure black - using just black dye doesn't work, you have to dye it with a dark dye pack (like Moon) first then use black on top of it. But they're still not ideal with the "patch" edges still visible in certain lighting. But at least black goes with everything. ;)

They should make a fashion profession which makes everything from plain/casual clothing up to extremely ornate and detailed noble wear.

A lot of these items can be pulled almost directly from what the peasants and nobles in PE are already wearing...

How about just getting rid of the floor length loin cloths. They aren't realistic in fashion or battle.

The mastercraft fashion items could have been a nice money maker for the game, but the DEVs decided to gate em behind a mostly pointless grind so they're just useless.

Think the management don't realize cosmetics are a huge money making for MMOs. Was a pretty stupid thing to move them all to the tradebar store.

So is not all that leather's stuff most ppl want, leather never was a real thing, how ppl r taught in movies, especialy not the tough motorbike-like kind (yes, it was used, but if u think it was common or even seen in most of periods of times we see it in moves, get back to books) with spikes and stuff. Gambeson and other kinds of padding was much more common. Tbh as far as i like DnD, they did crappjob while creating armors and weapons for this realm (starting with 1e till now), which was created on false-base stuff (like spear slower than sword mechanic) and stuff which looked cool, but was a creation of modern imagination and not historically accurate.

Agreed, this thread is way too old. Having said that, the Courtesan's Attire for ladies would look so much better with six-inch platform stiletto heels :)

Necromancer robes. ;) Actually I'd like to see:
Eyeglasses (perhaps in lieu of face tattoo)
    Monocle (same as eyeglasses)
    Eyepatch (already exists?)
Drow Fashion (Spider themed *hint, hint, wink* @strumslinger)
    Dwarven Fashion
    Fashion Cloak slot
    Temporary Hair Dyes
    Permanent Hair Dyes
    Mount Barding/Saddle dyes

    Among other suggestions...

I think that the Icewind Dale fashion sets were a good start, with regard to being able to access some fairly casual-looking stuff. I'd like to see some simple pieces/sets added to the regular crafting professions, (heck, you could just pull pieces from the various humanoid NPCs we encounter throughout the game).

I'd also like to see some fashion pieces added to the campaigns - Feywild and Dread Ring sort of had pieces added, (but usually via the Zen store or AD/Tradebar stores).

They probably haven't been in NW because of the very small selection and very little change. Those people who wanted the zen fashion got it early in the game and by the time new players came the fashion no longer seemed unique. To effectively market fashion in MMO you need a wide variety and new options for customization to be introduced. Supposedly cryptic has a good art team, put those people to work.
