Could anybody please explain to me (or point me to proper link where to read) how detection mechanics work in neverwinter (mostly this is because I want to try create rogue specdific, stealth, thief type quests in foundry).
1) How big is visibility zone of mobs?
2) Do mobs see 360 degree?
3) Or mobs see some sector before them if if you came from behind then they will not aggro?
4) Through what objects mobs can see (what can be used as cover) ?
5) Does mobs have some alert mechanism to call each other for help?
6) Or mobs are separated in dumb groups and those groups will not be (can not be) linked to each other any way (only group members will fight together)?
7) Is there some "hiding" and "silence" implemented in any way (I did not located anything similar except invisible type stealth that is activated by tab for rogue)?
8) Does lights in room somehow affects detection (if there is dark then mobs dont see you but if there is bright light then mobs found you immediately)?

In brief, the mechanics aren't nearly as complex as you'd like them to be.
There does seem to be a certain amount of line-of-sight cover, like a solid wall will prevent you from being seen and attacked. But if there are no obstacles of the sort, being behind a mob doesn't make any difference.
Aggro radius is fairly tight, but might be adjustable in Foundry (never played with it). You can become very good at slaloming your way between mobs with a little practice (or be terrible at it and pull the entire map).
Never seen anything resembling a call for help, but there is patrolling behavior which has the potential to dump more mobs into an ongoing fight.
The only hide is rogue stealth, no silence, and light levels don't affect gameplay beyond maybe the player's screen brightness.
(I'm afraid the original NWN toolset was excellent for making the kind of quest you seem to want. In fact, somebody already made one, called "A Dance with Rogues".)
Hi. I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge.
1) How big is visibility zone of mobs?
- I don't have the solid numbers but ithould be within 30' - 40'. Once the mob starts looking at you, even if it has not attacked you yet, you are within its field of vision.
2) Do mobs see 360 degree?
- Yes.
3) Or mobs see some sector before them if if you came from behind then they will not aggro?
- 360. Swear.
4) Through what objects mobs can see (what can be used as cover)?
- Mobs cannot see you when you're behind a wall and it is on the other side, but if you have the aggro of the mob and you try to hide behind a wall, the mobs will still find you as long as you are within their aggro area.
5) Does mobs have some alert mechanism to call each other for help?
- AFAIK, nope. Would be awesome though.
6) Or mobs are separated in dumb groups and those groups will not be (can not be) linked to each other any way (only group members will fight together)?
- Yep! Separated in dumb groups.
7) Is there some "hiding" and "silence" implemented in any way (I did not located anything similar except invisible type stealth that is activated by tab for rogue)?
- Only for the Rogue and HR's using Forest Ghost.
8) Does lights in room somehow affects detection (if there is dark then mobs dont see you but if there is bright light then mobs found you immediately)?
- Absolutely not. The Stealth mechanics for this game isn't too complicated. As long as you are in Stealth, mobs can't see you. But some mobs can see through stealth, and most, if not all epic dungeon bosses can see through stealth. You may also notice mobs trying to attack you while you are in Stealth. As long as they have the purple "?" above their heads, they can't see you. But if their attacks seem to be following you, that doesn't mean that they can see you. It just means that their attack has an auto-target mechanic that targets the nearest available target regardless if the target is in stealth or not.
Thank You kind gentleman for Your answers
Although its a bit sad as there is very limited possibilities for stealth gameplay (but probably I will try create such mission anyway after a bit investigation and planning)
