In my opinion, the game has improved. The game is constantly changing, patches, expanisons and what-not keep the game always fluent. And I know, there's a lot of whine about the new refinement system, exploits, glitches, unbalances and all that nonsense, but tbh, I like the game a lot. I've tried many MMO's before that (WoW, Rappelz, Metin, Aion (or what it's called),...) and the farthest I got was lvl 30 until I got so bored that I had to quit. Now I have 2 lvl 60 Chars and 2 new ones in the making and I'm thrilled.
And yes, there are some issues that I'm not completly happy with, and some stuff should be changed, but the pro's outweigh the con's. The game is a work in progress, so if you don't like something you have two choices: Report it and it might get changed (which takes time since you - not meaning anybody in perticular, just ANYbody - is not that important and Cryptic is not a small corp.) or quit. Nobody forces you to play.
As for me, I think there are some things that could bve improved (more customizability for instance) but right now, today, in this game and with this game, I'm pretty darn happy

. . . . . Since Neverwinter is free to play, I strongly suggest to check it out for oneself! There's been far to many changes to recap in detail in a single post, and opinions of the game vary greatly from person to person. Because of this and threads like these ending up as a pit-fest of extremes, I am closing this. Please just peruse the forums for topics that suit your fancy and check the game out to make your own opinion. Indeed!
