Playing as a Hunter/Ranger can glitch the Doomguides mission.
Specifically, the part where you're sent into the rift to find the FIRST Doomsguide. You enter the rift, find the camp, enter the crypt, battle your way through it and you end up at the last room, where the Red Wizzard is located.
As a Hunter/Ranger, if you chose the Passive skill which increases the range of your Ranged attacks, you have the range to aggro the Red Wizzard (and the trash) while still outside the room. This lets you finish the Task 'Eliminate the Red Wizzard and his Allies' before you got the objective to do so. This leaves you with an unfinished objective (kill the Red Wizzard), without the possibility of doing so. The cut-scene will still trigger (without any actors in it), but there's no way to end the objective.
This is because the last objective is triggered upon ENTERING the last room.
A solution would be to trigger this objective halfway through the last hallway, rather than upon entering the room. Another would be to trigger the objective upon killing the last mob before you enter the room, but this might take more effort than relocating the trigger 10 feet into the hallway.
On a side note, while I was unable to reset the quest myself, when I logged in again after a couple of hours, all the actors were reset in the instance, which leads me to believe I can try again. I've not had the time to go through the instance yet, but I'll report upon completion. (I did make a Request for help from a GM, but it was not yet answered, which leads me to believe that the instance reset was automatic).
I hope this helps, and I look forward to your response.
Regards,
Ganoda

If you leave an instance incomplete and don't log in again for a while (even if say the game crashes and you take your sweet time recovering it), you'll be placed back outside and everything will be reset.
So you should be able to finish your quest, even though it means some repetition.
Yup, I figured that out. Still, if the trigger location is moved a couple of feet down the hall, it would prevent future players from getting in the same situation.
I had the same thing happen when my CW did this dungeon - started the fight outside the room, but was not able to complete it. However (as you found), on exiting then re-entering, all the 'actors' were reset, making me realize I -needed- to trigger the FMV before killing the 'boss'. Personally, I doubt that Cryptic will change anything - after all, a simple way for you to avoid such problems in the future would be to step into the room, trigger the FMV, then hurriedly retreat out.
Another way of circumventing the problem would be to kill as much trash as possible from the door, then enter the room to trigger the FMV and engage the boss. (I do this when running the Quickling Den in Sharandar.) Don't worry about getting killed when the FMV triggers - all action stops (despite what it may sound like!). This way you have less mobs pounding on you whilst you kill the boss, but still will get the 'mission complete' when the boss goes down.
