Run Speed Bonus vs Mounted Movement Speed

  1. I currently have 60% run speed bonus.
  2. My free horse increases my movement speed by 50%.
  3. My run speed bonus has no effect on my mounted movement speed.
In this situation, does this mean that getting on my horse actually makes me slower by 10%?

In other words, are "run speed bonus" and "increased movement speed" the same type of bonus, or are they different bonuses that simply override eachother?

    Buy a 80/110% mount ;)

That's hardly relevant to my question.

Seems like a rhetorical question to me. Unless you don't have a firm grasp of basic math.

Since I don't know if "run speed bonus" and "increase movement speed" are the same thing and scale the same way, I don't see what's wrong with the question. My first assumption is that they do work the same way, which is why I mentioned the 10% decrease, but since they're listed separately I can't be sure.

And seeing as how no one seems to be able to give a straight answer to a simple yes or no question, I'm assuming I'm not the only one who's not sure.

    The answer is Yes.

Movement Speed is the stat rating for Run Speed Bonus stat. Motion under a mount is capped to the Run Speed Bonus of the mount (despite value showing otherwise in your Character Sheet tooltip), though it does also state in the tooltip the same thing.

You can test this yourself with good use of map and its coordinates (M key) and a stop watch. However, you may need to stack a lot more Movement than an extra 2.6% to notice a difference with such manual testing.

I'm amazed you could get it that high! What total movement bonus did you need, and which pieces of gear and enchants did you use?

I meant it as a theoretical situation. I don't actually outrun horses. Even slow horses. :P

I think the max you can currently get is somewhere between 10% and 15%.

. . . . . Run Speed does not affect Mount Speed nor vice verse. They are two separate stats with their own run speeds. A person on foot will never out-run a mounted person, even on the slowest horse. Unless of course, the mounted person is in "++walk" mode. Special powers (like dash) aren't a factor in this because they are not a constant.

TR can get higher than 50% mount speed. In stealth speed boost + flat speed increase. Both class features. While one is relative to being in stealth, it can happen.

... and I have outrun people on their slow mount, on my TR. :)

I believe the "% Speed" indicator on mounts is based off the standard "unmounted" movement speed.

So - if you are not mounted and just running: that is the baseline of 100% - for simplicity let's call it 100 miles per hour (MPH).

So a purple mount is +110% - which is your baseline 100 MPH, plus 110% of that = 210 MPH.

It would be the same calculation for blue, green and white-level mounts. Hence, a mount with 80% movement speed will be your 100% run, plus 80% of that added on-top for a total movement speed of 180% (or as in the silly example above: 180 MPH). Thus a Blue mount is not quite twice the speed of a runner, and a purple mount is just slightly twice the speed of a runner, etc.

Well, my stealthed TR runs faster than a standard mount. It is not constant, but using Bait and Switch and Shadow strike, it lasts for a long time (15 seconds).

There's different quality horses, each with their own movement speeds. If you think that a mount movement speed affects non-mounted speed or even stealth speed, then I don't know what to tell you except for that you are the one who is mistaken, not I.
