I click on the Nvn icon, type in my login and password, wait for any updates (none since the module update) and click "play". At this point, the game tries to load, a black window appears but shuts down immediately afterwards.I get the CrypticError:Oops window with 27599923 being the error ID. The game worked prior to module 2 update.
I use a netbook so I realize the crux of the issue might be the hardware:
Windows 7 Pro
IntelR Core (TM) 2 DUO CPU 1.33 GhZ
2GB RAM
Mobile Intel(R) 945 express chipset - meeting the bare minimum, i'd say

in crash.log are several lines that says:
131206 16:48:12 12 Client[0 [NOENT]]: GSM_Quit(). Reason: emEditorMain or utilitiesLibShouldQuit()
i also have this bug i tried the first day to get in crashes as soon as i hit play
i even uninstalled and reinstalled same exact issue.to bad i like this game and hate to not be able to play it
Had same prob in DoTA2, which PWE also published. So one would think that they would have a known fix for the issue....or did they leave those players stranded as they have left us?
I've tried launching through ARC and the standalone launcher (in the Neverwinter program folder), and using safe-mode. The only change today from previous attempts is: when I select "run game with lowered settings" the client crashes immediately; and when I select "run game with default settings", the client freezes/times out loading a black full-screen (likely the Cryptic title screen).
System Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor 2.09Ghz
2.87GB RAM
MS Windows XP Professional (v.2002) with service pack 3

If need be, I have full specs available via DxDiag.exe, just let me know.
It also happened to me while doing the Phantasmal lair quest and since then whenever I attempt to log in back my games crashes. Weird thing tho, it works if I make another character.

48 hours since customer service's first and last reply to my ticket regarding my crashing issue (even though I replied to their answer after about an hour). It wasn't really helpful either, they tried giving me fixes that I had already tried. I have kinda given up hope playing this game again any time soon.
I've yet to get a response. I just want them to tell me what the Error Ticket ID stands for really to see if there are any possible work arounds.

Well, considering that it was obvious that there were all kinds of problems with the server, not including these crashes and they seem to have walked away friday nite and went home for the weekend, I rather doubt I will continue with this game even if they get this issue fixed. New computer in the mail already hooray for early christmas presents to myself. Poor job from the developers, if there are going to be big issues with your release delay it. The number of rather glaring bugs reported in the forums is quite amusing. Glad I only invested 5 dollars into the game so far and approximately 3-4 weeks of playing. A tip for the devs, you're not charging for expansions therefore there is no reason to make big expansions all at once, try adding one new feature at a time as soon as it's completed(i.e. just adding the artifacts, dealing with any issues, then adding the new class, lather rinse repeat) instead of a whole chunk of features every 6 months or whatever your timetable is. It'll keep your playerbase steady instead of only coming back from when new content is released, burning out on it and then gone again. As well as being easier to tweak, streamline, and fix bugs. Good luck folks. I'm deleting this, happy hunting or whatever you folks do.
I have found a solution to the push play then client crash.
1) At the NWO login screen before logging in, click on OPTIONS at the top.
2) Scroll down to FORCE VERIFY check mark it.
3) Press SAVE.
4) Now login and the launcher will check for any errors in the client and fix/re-patch. This may take a few minutes to do.
I did this two hours and it work for me. If anyone else having that login problem should try it out and let everyone know if it worked or not.

I tried with all the options in the launcher, force verify, safe mode, etc and always that error 27599923. The problem seems to be in the Gameclient.exe

I wonder if it would be something in the version of windows. As I, many of the players who reported the error, they have windows 7. I wonder if this error happens in Windows 8 or 8.1.
It would be nice if someone from dev. team would just acknowledge our 27599923 crash issue, other than just an "auto" response to our tickets telling us to do things we have already tried. Even if it is just to say.."we are aware of the issue and are looking into it, please be patient as we are overwhelmed with issues at the moment and had to take the weekend off to attend our annual christmas party". Trust me PWE/Cryptic, I have tried all the suggestions you have recommended in the forums and even some you haven't suggested. Just please let us know that we are not sitting in a black hole and/or being ignored.

Sorry to see people still having problem. Post patch blues.
Yes it is the gameclient.exe. The Force Verify seems to have done trick for me, five logins so far no problem, but in game problems are popping up, had a fatal error crash in Dread Ring and an odd crash saying "bad RAM detected" which fun because I had my RAM sticks replaced last week.
Hopefully the dev-team in charge of bug fixing can hunt the problem(s) this week.

Can you please provide us with more info about your system specs, including CPU, GPU, and OS? We'll need a bit more info to investigate.
Edit: Also! Can you let us know if you're launching the game through the standalone launcher, or through Arc? You might also try launching the game through Safe Mode (click on "Options" in the launcher, then check "Safe Mode"), because some graphical settings may have been reverted to default.
Thanks!

Hello everyone, I seemed to suffer from the same (or at least similar) issue as most here, however, I managed to fix it in some way.
I post here as I thought it would make no sense to create a new thread featuring the same or similar issue if there is a thread of such a scale on this forum already.
It's not a real crash with error message on my end.
First, some data about my PC:
I'm using AMD hardware, an AMD Athlon II X4 processor (3GHz) and an Ati Sapphire 5770HD graphics card, 4GB RAM, my OS is Windows 7 and the game runs via Steam (I installed it on Steam in the default directory, Steam/SteamApps/common/Cryptic Studios at first).
I'll explain what was going on here in case anyone is curious:
I start the launcher, log in and the update starts (patching the game to the latest version). Then I can click play. Everything works as it should, but then, when the logo Neverwinter shows and I get the message "Material files reloaded", it simply freezes with no error message, I can wait as long as I want, nothing is going to happen. The resolution was incredibly low if I may say so. I don't know why it was the case on my first run (I did not even use safe mode at that point yet).
I can't minimize, I have to terminate the task. Safe mode and windowed didn't change anything either. When retrying and restarting the launcher and logging in, it downloads the patch - again. I doubt this is supposed to happen. When clicking on play the same happens as before and with any retry the patch is downloaded again.
Unfortunately, I tried everything that was suggested (safe mode, verify game files, disable patching, dns flush and various other stuff, even completely illogical approaches like compatibility mode - who knows? It could have been working, I experienced weird stuff with other games by now) but at that point I found no working solution regarding my problem yet.
I was very disappointed not even being able to get into the menu.
My guess was that it was Steam with its usual bugging behaviour (killing mod support in games is no news for example).
So I reinstalled the game on a different partition (my Steam is installed on my D partition, so I chose E:\Neverwinter as the target). After reinstalling it on my E partition, I lauched the game through Steam and it installed the patch after I logged in and crashed at the materials again. I tried to tab out when it freezed, and tried to get back by accidentally clicking on the gamelauncher.exe popup on my taskbar above my icon, it showed an error message that it cannot find game files. I realized it was a stupid idea to start it through Steam to begin with if it is not directly in its "library", so I started the exe directly from the installation on E, I logged in - it did not want to install the patch again - and it pointed out that my installation could have had defect files and suggested a check. after that I pressed play and hurray, it works! The resolution was also fine after installing and trying on a different directory.
It might sound confusing (and it was in fact a confusing experience) so I'll summarize it: In short: Steam was the issue, I installed it outside of the usual Steam directory, lauched through the direct exe and could finally get into the menu to create a character.
I seriously hope those who face a similar issue also suffer from this Steam issue so they can fix it at least... It was very frustrating at first.
Okay, finally I will be able to play... I hope it will fullfill my expectations. I played Neverwinter Nights and it left a very positive impression, I hope this game will be like its "MMO-big brother".

It might sound confusing (and it was in fact a confusing experience) so I'll summarize it:
In short: Steam was the issue, I installed it outside of the usual Steam directory, lauched through the direct exe and could finally get into the menu to create a character.
Cheers,
Sly.
