Is the use of a 3rd party program like <removed> or <removed> used for the purpose of invoking automatically every day against the EULA? I don't even know if it would work, but I was wondering if anybody tried it or if you would get banned for automating invoking?
I'm fairly sure that the use of any 3rd party program that automates actions for you wouldn't be allowed. There's a slight , very slight chance that I may be wrong but I haven't played any MMO yet where it's oke to use a 3rd party program to do things.
Pure multiboxing (not automation) or purely graphical (like improved anti-aliasing) is the only instance I have heard of being permitted to use 3rd party programs.
Even those are normally covered in broad language in Terms of Service, but unofficially permitted in those instances.
This would clearly be a case of automation and I know of no MMO that would allow that under any circumstance.

The games are designed for play only as offered through our Services at the Website. You agree not to access, create or provide any other means through which the game may be played by others, such as through server emulators. You agree not to use any hardware or software, including but not limited to third party tools, or any other method of support which may in any way influence or give you an advantage in the use of the Services which is not authorized by PWE, including but not limited to the use of 'bots' and/or any other method by which the Service may be played automatically without human input. You acknowledge that you do not have the right to create, publish, distribute, create derivative works from or use any software programs, utilities, applications, emulators or tools derived from or created for the games, except that you may use the Software to the extent expressly permitted by these Terms and the applicable EULA. You may not take any action which imposes an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure.
No you may not use unauthorized third party software and absolutely nothing which automates actions within the game. Now you can dictate key combinations (such as having a single key act as Ctrl + I) but you must directly apply every key stroke in order to not violate the Terms of Service.
I agree being able to invoke from gateway would be the ultimate solution.
I understand 3rd party tools that give you an advantage are illegal but automating invoking doesn't really give you an advantage. It's just reducing the tedium.

From the recent IRC Q&A with Andy "The Squez" Valasquez.
[21:08] <%QuestionServ> any chances of making it possible to invocate via the gateway?
[21:09] <%TheSquez> Hey Nemesis [21:09] <+Nemesis_the_Warlock> Hey [21:10] <%TheSquez> yeah...hmm naaaah...hmm maybe
[21:10] <%TheSquez> haha
[21:10] <%TheSquez> we've talked about this a ton [21:11] <+Nemesis_the_Warlock> I have 5 toons and I need a faster way to do it please!! [21:11] <%TheSquez> i dont think we'll ever go down the route of just "there is a button that you can press to invoke from the web" [21:11] <+Nemesis_the_Warlock> awww [21:11] <%TheSquez> but what we might do is have some way to do something to have your invocation count
[21:11] <%TheSquez> somethign with a minor gameplay element
[21:11] <%TheSquez> or something on gateway
[21:11] <%TheSquez> similar [21:11] <+Nemesis_the_Warlock> nice [21:12] <%TheSquez> but likely there wont be anything in the short term
[21:12] <%TheSquez> know that it is on our radar for sure tho [21:12] <+Nemesis_the_Warlock> great I'll let my G+ people know [21:12] <%TheSquez> i know i've been bummed when I needed to be away for a bit and i couldnt figure out a way to invoke for the day
[21:12] <+Nemesis_the_Warlock> me too
[21:13] <@Dragostini> Thanks for the question Nemesis_the_Warlock
Being able to invoke once every hour is made to make people login to the game. If you can do professions and invoking from an external site, many people wouldn't log in any more. I guess that's not what the devs would want.
So I guess there's little chance of it happening.
PWE: We want to see more people logged on to your servers!
Dev Team: AGH!! OKAY! Hmmm maybe we could make some automation tools to log you on in hours where you might not be home or awake.
I don't expect anything to be done about it. I was simply trying to argue the point that using tools to invoke didn't give any advantage and is not at all the same as someone using tools to play PvP better.

Being able to invoke without you actively controlling whether you do or not is an unfair advantage.
Doesn’t give advantage? But of course it gives advantage. If your fellow is invoking while you are in the other room watching teen wolf, that is an advantage. No one else can do that unless they too are using third party programs.
If it doesn’t involve you sitting at your computer pressing a key with your fingers then it is verboten. I know that sounds a little pompous coming from a user such as myself but the “are you sitting there pressing a button” test is the one I hear most commonly used to visualize the strictures of the agreement.
Don't see what all the fuss is about anyways , they have nerfed the chance to get a Coalescent ward into the ground and the only other thing worth invoking for is the Angel and that's not exactly an earth shattering companion really is it?
If they want to force us to login, then why have the Gateway at all then?
the gateway is a great way to manage auctions and professions while you are away. honestly, the intent of invocation is an incentive to play, not an incentive to log in, invoke and log out. but that is what some people do. sometimes you have time to play and sometimes you don't.
that being said, i doubt that they'll every allow invocation from the gateway. if they were going to do that, they might as well get rid of invocation completely.

Agreed, lets get rid of it completely. Some of us don't play 7 days a week and with the change to Coal wards, this is going to be a show stopper.

. . . . . 3rd Party Apps that provide unattended automation are against the ToS and EULA. Raising dead threads is considered Necromancy per our Rules of Conduct. Just to note though, they may be able to add the ability to invoke via Gateway. Check out the Preview Gateway forums and give feedback on that wish.

i dont think so, see server activity sells well to investors. if you login every day to pray for all your toon's you are generating server activity.
