Trade Scammers and how to avoid them

Just the other day, I was offered 3 coal wards for one of my items, the deal was clearly in my favor (Keep in mind I knew how the trade scam worked.) so I met the person, we both put our items in the trade, then at the last second, the other guy removed his item, just like they all do. Luckily I was waiting to see if he'd do that or not so I didn't accept, like an idiot he did remove it and try to scam me.

To avoid this, I suggest you hold off on any form of player, player trading until the patch that protects players in trades goes through.

Imho the trade system can be improved like this to protect players:

When both players have their items in the trade window and player A had pressed "Accept" button, if player B changes/removes his item, then player A's "Accept" button will be reverted to unpressed stat.

a second trade confirmation window fix was listed in patch notes that went live on october 29th, but apparently the fix did not. it's been confirmed that this fix is present on the preview shard (currently patched with the shadowmantle preview), but not on the owlbear shard (currently acting as the normal preview shard). we have provided this information to the community managers. please continue to use the in-game reporting feature: gm help > behavior - or use the support website: customer service > report violation. and please exercise caution when trading in-game until the fix goes live. thank you.

There is a patch that will be happening that will make a confirmation window appear after each player has pressed accept, we just have to wait for that patch to be implemented.

I see. That also works. Though that requires one more step.

!. email customersupport@perfectworld.com with your complaint, making sure to give the name and handle of the person youtraded with. Not sure they'll be able to do anything but you can still try.
    2. private message a Dev here on the forums. You can get their names in the DEv section threads. Be polite, concise and in detail.

unfortunately, there isn't anything that the moderators or the community managers can do with the account names of individuals that are involved. this information needs to be provided through in-game reporting or using the support website.

or the email address provided above will work as well.

Confirmation windows? really? Why not cancel the trade window entirely if a player removes an item

. . . . . There's some trickery involved the scammers are using. The fix is working on the Preview Server, as Melodywhr mentioned, but hasn't made it to the live servers yet.

. . . . . Folks, if you're the victim of a trade Scam, please contact a GM immediately through in-game GM Help ticket or through the Support Site. To do so in-game, press H (by default, or Escape then Help) and choose GM Help then choose Behavior as the category and fill in all the requested fields and as much information as possible. We cannot offer Support for such things on the forums and player reports of such naming scammers is considered Naming & Shaming, which we cannot allow. Alternatively, you can email them at customerservice@perfectworld.com, however an in-game GM Ticket is the best way to report this.
