Why do the GWFs you face never seem to switch to Roar?
I didn't switch to roar because it wouldn't have made much of a difference in this case. Trace spent most of his time off the point damaging me while I was trying to turn it. He'd repel me then get on the point and then entangle me. I also play a CW so I know how this goes. I had to hope for a prone and then get a stun and try to damage him down. That happened a few times but he is setup properly to keep me off the point and be elusive when he is on the point.
We changed tactics and started sending a rogue there and Trace didn't fare so well, which is expected. I then started holding our point and helping at mid now and then. EoA then sent their rogue over to me and that ended with me killing him or me getting killed by SE. In the end it was a well played match on both ends.
Also this matchup wasn't random, I was watching both of the groups you guys had running as well as a couple other guilds and Q sniped ya There were a lot of 5 man premades running yesterday. I'm a firm believer in not running a 5 man premade against pugs, 3 is really as many as you should have. Hard to get better when you're stomping pugs all day, it builds false confidence IMO.
My GWF is a newer toon and I'm still learning all the tactics needed to premade on him so I thank you for the fights Trace, you did very well and I walked away learning some things.

I'll do my best to get some videos up with Sents using Roar. It's an advantage, but not impossible to fight one.
Lemonade Stand does an amazing job at setting up the fights they want, and setting up 2v1s to quickly kill off opponents. After the first five minutes, I was put up against TRs or WCTRL (who hits like a ton of bricks). PWN beat me later in the match with a Daily.

I've used roar some but not enough. Going to practice with it more and get use to timing it out. Roar, Sprint, Takedown and then see what happens.
Hey Trace, any chance of you getting some videos 1v1 against GFs? I seem to be having a lot of problems against them, well against our own from EoA anyway lol
I've had some help from one of our GF showing me their ranges of their encounters, but I think my timing of dodges etc seems a bit off. I always play with a latency of 3-400, sucks to live in Australia to play this game, so I'm constantly trying to predict other player's moves (against another CW I can never pull off the first EF). So it'd really help to see your timing of the fight.
Have the gear and skills, but lack the friends to play with? Come and apply for Essence of Aggression. We have been here and strong since beta. (Immature, rude, and arrogant people will not be accepted)

Use Ray of Frost and in general the safest setup is Icy Ray [Tab] Entangling, Chill strike, repel. Icy ray will stop them>>ray of frost until frozen (push) >> freeze, entangling when frozen chill strike push, icy ray etc. You can change it up a bit but RoF is key against a GF. As for getting EF off first if you find they always beat you start with a shift or two to get them to waste it

I'll see what I can do about a video, perhaps start a new thread. But this is it exactly. Even open up with Icy Rays. They can block it, but the CC is still in affect, plus it gives 3 chill stacks on tab. So you're halfway to frozen, then Ray of Frost, then debuff, choke, and repel away. Rinse and repeat.

Okay, I was asked to post a video of a GWF using Roar. I had a great example during an PMvsPM versus Brotherhood of Irenicus, but alas, I was not recording! Gah! So here's a short video after an in house PMvsPM we did last night. Mind you, I did start with a daily up, but it's completely plausible to Sent duel starting with zero AP.
Also, if you have any videos to post of Sent dueling yourself, please feel free to post them. I'd love to see some Oppressors or Thaum videos.

I should have frapsed how I failed against gerftylog when all his tenes procced for about 9K damage from his briartwine enchant without him even getting close to hit me yet, it was epic

Yeah, Des and I have concluded time and time again that there is no CW/Tenny-GWF solution. Sent wins every time.

What about if you get 30K+ HP halfling pure PvP specced CW with perfect barkshield and 7 GTEs on the CW as well? Really curious if this basically ideal CW would have a chance.
Anyway we're kinda lucky that many GWFs don't even use roar when it's so effective.

Still waiting for ANYONE to post a video Sent dueling. I'm starting to think I'm the only one doing it. Fought a decent GWF today who used Punishing Charge to close the gap on me. Very good tactic due to the multiple charges. I'd say most of the better GWFs do use Roar. Many don't, however, because they're not used to 1v1ing CWs. It's also a great way to find stealth TRs.

From what I have seen Allt from Lemonade can do fairly well, but usually when he is fighting Gerfty its when Gerfty needs to stand on a point, so Allt can just nuke away. When Gerf gets there though it is usually lopsided.
There really is no way for a Cw to counter a Full GTenny Gwf with Briar. Directly counters us.

Tennys counter just about anything. And Allt runs Tennys too.
Off topic, our random pre-GG EoA group ran into Tankzilla during a PVP match. We dueled twice and I won the first (most likely because Tank didn't have Crescendo slotted). He cleaned me up the second match. Here's the first. Quite a long duel, actually.

Yeah it was so unexpected When you lose almost half your HP without the opponent even doing anything yet to you, the fight is completely lost. Not to mention you already know that if you last 20 secs, the tenes will proc again heh. gerfty must have the most annoying GWF spec I've met yet by far. I don't know if I met others with briar/tenes. Suppose it's hardly any good for other purposes but killing CWs, but it's sure nice to have an armor with it for when the need arises.

This took forever lol. I met Tankzilla a few times myself in some pugs but never got a chance to 1 vs 1, however he seems to have too much HP/regen for my CW, not to mention incoming damage. Also your Severe Reaction procced ALL the time, insane, so much free stamina. The difference between a CW that has it and CW that doesn't (like me, because it's useless in PvE) is that when they go unstoppable I just turn away and run since I need to conserve stamina, while you can still nuke them with at-wills and facetank a bit. Very big advantage.
Yet another reason for that stupid dual-spec to just come already, how long can it take to implement such a simple thing?

Yep, Severe Reaction is a must. It does proc like crazy. I had to give up Snap Freeze for it, but it's well worth it. I don't think you can Sent duel without it.

Well, you can, I'll try to post a video sometimes. But you need space to move, and you need to run away or around or whatever when they go red. If and when repel bugs, you're in big trouble. A fight against good GWF without SR is not a pretty sight to be honest, since most of the time you just chicken out and run, but it's possible, this is one of the reasons I never wanted to post a video since it looks HAMSTER and cowardly Did some 1 vs 1s when I was even called out on it "We started at 1 and we finish at 3" (a bit exaggerated :P) and so on, but suppose what counts is that I won. However in a normal match if you don't have SR and some HP to sustain you, you're better off going someplace else and getting a more suited guy to deal with the GWF.

They're gonna nullify your artifacts and HP and regen because they can get them as well.
However, very few of these melees are actually dangerous for a CW once you have the gear and damage to overcome their regen.
What about TRs? Any 1 vs 1s against good TRs you might have taped?

Roar is a necessity against CWs. Without it you can pretty much be kited endlessly.
