Unbinding Mounts and Companions

If you could unbind a mount or companion for x or y cost would you?

Maybe you're like me and gave a Nightmare Mount to a class that you started and ultimately decided you didn't like, or possibly just want to gift it to a friend.
Regardless of your reasons, if you could pass that epic mount or Ion Stone to another character would you want that option?

On the one hand, it'd be a really nice convenience feature, but on the other hand, this would lead account hackers to be even more aggressive with their attempts, as they could rip off all your companions and mounts, too...

Sort of... I'd rather Zen shop companions just be account-wide with each character getting their own copy. (Like Zen Shop mounts and companions from the Packs.) Of course I'd use it if it was an option though.

I am relatively certain that the rationale for ultimately deciding to keep this feature out of the live game is the account-wide companion unlocks from packs. If they can be unbound, there is no mechanism in place preventing people from claiming infinite pets and selling them.

Successful implementation would require designating certain companions as possible to unbind and others not. I'm not saying it could not be done, but it isn't as simple as it initially appears.

Look at the black market that was operating for selling transmuted pack fashion items prior to the changes that would make them remain bound. If people can find a way to exploit something, they will.

As to whether I'd use the feature, no, simply because I've never bound anything I wasn't 100% certain about keeping.

I would love to be able to unbind my companions. Of course if this feature was actually added to the game the price would probably be HAMSTER and you would be better off just buying a new one. If they could add it without being as greedy as they normally are it would be a awesome change.

Honestly though I think the best change would be to make the companions account bound. I wouldn't mind it one bit even though I have 5 of the same companion and this change would make 4 of them a waste. It is a much needed change and I wouldn't complain at all. It would also make buying different Zen store companions more interesting. At least then if you picked a bad companion for your class you can use it on one or all of your other toons. One thing though, making them account bound should not increase the price. They are already overpriced even if they were account bound.

Unbind companion was a feature that was promised to us from the beta stage of development. Now PWE are saying they are not considering it at all.

I have characters with low level companions that I seriously wish I had on other characters. I spent a LOT to get a cat when I was working on a cleric (a class I find I now hate) and would delete the character that it is on. Another example is a character with a Lillend. The Lillend is no longer accessible from any box or item, so deleting the character would remove the companion forever. Similarly, I am not going to save the AD necessary to purchase another cat.

Let's get real here. Account bound companions (such as the sylph and panther) stay account bound. But others should be able to be unbound and moved to another character within the account, as was originally promised.

This company takes a huge amount of our time and money to run and they don't seem keen to keep their promises to their players.

(Sorry if this sounds illogical, it's 3am here.)

Obviously unbinding mounts/companions from purchased founders accounts wouldn't be viable. I'm speaking specifically to those that are specific to only ONE character. Not your entire account.

I have a GWF that is just used for praying because I found I preferred playing a GF. His Nightmare Mount is useless to me now.

You will be able to get a Lillend in a week or so because they are going to have the event again. Even still, I do agree with everything you said. Companions need to be account bound, all of them, including the lockbox/special event ones. The Zen store pets need to be given to all characters on your account and the lockbox ones need to be reclaimable after deletion on one character only (that means if you delete the pet or your character you can still reclaim it with another toon).
