I would like to suggest the ability to transfer characters to an account.
I started this game not sure if I was going to like it. I wanted to try out every class. So I made multiple accounts so as to not have to delete characters. I am liking the game and am willing to buy character slots and transfer characters to the same account. So that win I buy things like Hero of the North pack or Guardian of Neverwinter the items that are account wide will be on all of my characters.
With a cost of course PWE will charge for the service.
Little confused. I have never seen spam of someone with account for sale. I have seen endless gold spam, even if one reports and block every one, there is always a never ending supply of more. Besides I am not getting your point of why character combining to one account would make there be more spam? If there is a problem with people/bots spamming selling accounts, wouldn't this actually make that number decrease if said person or bot combines the characters to one account, then instead of selling 5 accounts with 2 people now they have just 1 account with 10 people to sell? Am I just looking at this from another angle?
If they give players the ability to freely move around characters from account A to account B then the bot companies that are now only selling AD / Gold and whatever else it is that they sell will also start selling leveling 60 characters of X class which results in more spam from bots advertising their usual sales + the character sales.
I hope that I explained it clear enough for you to understand my point.

lol, level 60 characters take hours to bot up and are worthless. There have been players who advertise their level 60/BiS gear/rank 10s/perfects/etc characters for sale or trade for equivalent in other games. This was happening even in open beta, and those characters are only worth about $100 USD.
There's really no reason not to allow character transfers, other than their infrastructure most likely cannot support it (would change your charactername@login) and it would take years for them to get around to adding it. But there's no issue concerning bot companies, just attach a prohibitive zen cost for the transfer that the transferring account must pay.
Eve Online does this, it costs $20 dollars to transfer a character from one account to another.

I am in the same situation as the OP. Wanted to try the other classes before spending money on places to put them.
I've already bought extra slots now, saving one for new class (And currently filled with a professions/praying char that will be deleted when new class comes.) Put the fifth existing class in the other slot.
So I have one fully leveled and geared char of each class, all at 18-19 level leadership, spread across two accounts.
My biggest annoyances with this are trying to explain to my guildies that 'Yes it's me, my other account,' and having to log into multiple accounts several times daily to pray and set prof tasks.
But as much as I would like to combine them, I think the second poster is right- it would be abused, big time.
I can't see the devs going to the trouble of coming out with a system for doing this, anyway. I already bought the account-wide tier 3 horse twice, and I am sure I'm not the only one who's done anything like that.

. . . . . I cannot agree with this. It just opens the door for people to sell "characters," which they have no legal right to or any legal ownership of. I have six PWE accounts, three of which I now play with Neverwinter. My guild has no problems identifying me among my accounts because I add to my Guild Notes for each character signifying that character is me and many have befriended me, probably adding their own Social Notes in the Social Menu to remind them that an account is one of my alt accounts that I am playing.
. . . . . Parhaps if the account system had credit card flags, real name identification, and the like (like EVE Online, which was mentioned), then I could stand behind being able to transfer characters among one's own accounts. Otherwise, as I said, this just opens the door for leveling botters trying to make a quick buck by selling characters on the virtual black market.

Agreed. The original post, even if well intentioned, is not a good idea. Too easily abused.

There are so many ways to abuse such a system it's really terrifying.
I can understand your plight but unfortunately such a system would be overly risky. As Zeb said the best option for you would be to simply continue to use your alternate accounts when you wish but continue to buy character slots on whichever account you wish to be your main.
"WTS lvl 60 cleric, 12.5k GS w/ full fabled illyiaburen set, greater vorpal, greater thunderhead enchantments and 1M ADs" (yes it's mine). Is that what you want to see on the trade channel?

you mean what we see already every day? You know how much those are worth? nothing.
You can't bot up to BiS/perfect enchants.
There is literally no risk of abuse, but from posting on these forums i've learned that the age old adage about arguing on the internet is truer here than most places.
Think this the first time I've ever disagreed with inthefade462 on anything!
In this case, it seems clear to me the benefit to the playerbase is not worth the effort or risks.

I agree that there's very little benefit of doing it, ie not worth the time (which i believe i said in my first post? idk) however, there is no risk unless of course the developers are completely incompetent. (which, ok ok, I guess there is some risk)
That is the only reason these sheep keep rattling on about why not to do it.
The reason they shouldn't do it is that there is little to no benefit for the time required to add the feature. It has nothing to do with risk of abuse since there isn't any.

The idea has worked in other games, and has worked well. Even though I voted yes for it, I question the need here.
I was In Eve Online for 3 years, bought one pilot and actually traded another with a friend, There was a $20 fee paid by the transferring player , and a verification trail to catch scammers. But in Eve what you were really trading was usually a very mature specific skill set. I wanted another Orca and mining pilot and he wanted one I had trained for dreadnaughts. Apples and oranges. Also in Eve each account could have only 3 pilots, so many of us had 2 accounts and needed to shuffle guys around here and there.
In this game, It's very easy just to buy more slots, up to 50. Start another toon exactly like the one you want, even with the same name. You can get to 60 here very quickly, or more casually level it with leadership. Leadership takes a few months, but has the advantage of letting the new character pay for itself and takes up very little of your time as it happens. After that it's just a matter of gear and customization.
Honestly I think it would be more trouble than it's worth, except possibly as an AD sink for those that are just too lazy to do it for themselves . Dire warnings about commercial character farming/spamming are unfounded as this kind of game business would likely be set up to take place over the web.
Well I am sure there would be a charge by PWE for the transferring of characters. Why would someone transfer a lvl 60 character to a blank account just to sell it, when they can just create an account and make that character with no charge for transferring. If there intent is to make a character to sell I am sure they wont want to pay money. Also like a poster above said, there is massive spam every day MASSIVE, I still do not think this would create any more spam. If people are going to make characters to sell them there going to do it with a free account, not pay money to transfer that character of to some other account first... makes no sence

Sounds like my favorite arguments from MMO's past...*sarcasm*
What some of you seem to have said reads similar to what has occurred in other MMO's where people basically argued to allow cheating since there's no way to stop it 100%.
My real life counterclaim example became: So since the world can't stop crime should be disband jails and simply let anarchy rule?
Of course not!
Sure some <mumbles> who need <mumbled> that should go <mumbles> will always break the rules. Sometimes they will even get away with it, but that doesn't mean the walls should ever be taken down to make it easier for people to break rules.
And Gek, I never played EvE. Everything I have ever heard about EvE makes me dislike the game even more and what you stated has to be the top reason I would never consider playing that game. I would never play or continue to play a game that endorsed or encouraged account sales/trades.
As per the rules you can't sell or transfer any character because "you" don't own the character, cryptic/pwe does. I can't find the quote so don't quote me. lol

Sorry for those that dont want it, but i used to have 3 accounts with 2 60's each, and i asked to a GM if there is a way to transfer my characters i leveled legally with my effort, to my account, just to have them all in my master account.
GM answered not yet, it will be implemented in the future.
So yes, it will be possible, in the future.
Had to delete all my characters cause i wanted to have all in a account and filled the spots with others from scratch to 60 characters, oh well.

I seriously doubt this. Considering it has never been a feature on any Cryptic game....Ever!

This really seems like the best way to do it here. Since character trading is something I've never seen Cryptic implement, if they DO initiate it here I expect the sticker shock from the price will drive most people off and stifle profits for any potential character vendors.

CCP has managed Eve beautifully. From being able to support populations of 50,000 plus players all in one instance, to having players elect an interstellar council that goes to Iceland twice a year for open consultations with the GMs, This game has boldly gone where no games have gone before. Their solutions to third party profiteering are lights out effective. After three years I just burnt out on playing it. This is their tenth anniversary year and Cryptic/PWE could use some of the lessons that CCP has taught the rest of the gaming world.
Eve is what it is. It's no picnic and it's not for everybody. Although very much an MMO it bears only scant resemblance to an RPG. And it is just what you would expect from a bunch of Vikings. CCP is an Icelandic company that grew from a bunch of code jockeys and their home made multiplayer space commerce board game with a new blade server concept 15 years ago. They proudly bill it as a 'sandbox', love their pirates, and encourage villainous players every bit as much as virtuous players. The game has the smartest, toughest, and scariest monsters of any other MMO - the players themselves. This, and the fact that you will either loot your defeated opponents for their hard won gear or they will loot you gives its PVP a kick that you will find nowhere else. I play games like NWO almost exclusively for the PVE content. PVP here is simply too lowstakes and bland to hold my attention for long. When groups of Eve players walk into rooms at game conventions you can practically hear their balls clanking. Whiners and rage/quitters are just laughed out of the game. You might find life as a moderator in Eve forums without so many crybabies to actually be much easier and more satisfying than it is here.
