I was a little disappointed that after all the talk, his main mechanic is adds (you'd think that the first boss in the new module wouldn't rely heavily on adds) but this isn't my primary feedback.
My request is simple: make the dude a little larger, or make him glow more, or something - with all the adds running around, the biggest problem I have during the fight is that he looks too much like his adds, and I lose him in the crowd, which is a pretty silly mechanic as he's supposed to be, you know... the boss.
I had this problem in Epic Pirate 1st boss. As a GF, I just marked the boss, then kited the adds away to separate them. I am not sure what the layout is as i haven't done Root of the Problem, but it is a tried a true tactic that works.
As a TR, I also found it necessary to kite the adds away and deal with them separately to avoid getting burned out of stealth with their AoE.
But see, that's an example of a dynamic I appreciate - rather than adds, there are things to think about in how you fight, based on knowledge you get over time of the different mobs and what they do. I wouldn't even mind adds, if the adds were strategic in some way, i.e. "a healer will appear in an alcove, you have to get him, but this other mob has a push-back" and so forth. It's the crowds that are goofy.

I play TR, well geared I suppose. I just bust LA and dump my
DPS on him. When he hides in roots I then go to the nearest grouping of mobs and pop smoke, kill a few, then get back on boss when he uncovers. Rinse an repeat until he dies and then finish remaining adds. It makes for a pretty easy fight.

It always amuses me when I ignore these giant trolls to use my encounter powers to quickly wipe little healers.
